I didn't think we played well today. gave away too many silly balls and didn't look that comfortable on the ball. But, to go to Peterborough, not have a great performance and get a point, that's the signs of a good team. There first was because we,stood watching him, the 2nd seem to take forever from the free kick to go in. It felt as though we had lost at the end, but I'd have taken a point any day from this fixture. Not pretty but job done.

First game for me this season, as live just down the road from Notts. lot better than last season, some good football and just need that last bit when we in the box. Only criticism, need to sort out corners. 14 and never threatened once from them. Git to get the ball over the first man. having said that, so much better than this time last year. Atmosphere : fantastic noise all the way through, you all deserve credit for that.

Should have taken him off at half time. Not that he was bad but you knew the ref was giving us nothing. It was on the cards. A bad ref and linesmen today they got away with a lot. he got a second yellow but before and after if it was mk he give nothing.

Should never have made the subs he did. Harkins held it up. After subs it just came straight back. Jch needs to spend time in the gym. Way to light weight. Potential there. Bad subs today but at least lj tried something.

Slightly baffled by LJ's team selection in the absence of Korey Smith, a 4-5-1 with a midfield of Wes, Harkins, Dayton, Worrall and Philliskirk left an isolated Stead up top.
Winchester and Rodgers can't expect to be here next season if they can't find a place in a five man midfield when the skipper's injured.
Quite happy with Kusunga's selection, although I couldn't help thinking that our best centre back pairing was being wasted at full back.
Kusunga got a yellow card for an innocuous challenge on the touch line. He'd earlier been penalised for a nothing foul on the keeper and irritated the referee for trotting back to his position when a repeated whistle was making it clear the man in the middle wanted a chat. The walking away routine was repeated again when the yellow card was produced.
Still, despite MK starting the sharper they only created one decent chance, nobody gambling on a cross along our six yard line. Latics on the other hand became more threatening as the half move on, Stead missing a great chance, easily cleared off the line after he'd taken it too heavily around the keeper.
As Harkins got more into the game the threat grew and a simple ball in to Lockwood saw what appeared to be an easy back header loop over an exposed keeper and into the net. There were chances to add a second before half time but Philliskirk was unlucky.
To go in 1-0 up was a success of the manager's tactics and, on the balance of play, deserved.
The second half saw Stead have a good shout for a penalty ignored but it was MK starting stronger and, when Stead lost the ball cheaply just inside his own half he compounded it by missing the chance to win it back. Their lad rode three or four powder puff challenges before hitting a decent shot past Oxley.
Latics responded well and Harkins created a great chance that he put just wide while Grounds and Philliskirk snatched at chances when they should have done getter.
Kusunga's red card changed the game. It hadn't really crossed my mind that he'd get sent off. Even after sliding in and missing the ball I didn't expect another booking. But it came and off he went. Some Wycombe fans in the Row in front of me thought both bookings harsh. The BBC live commentary attributes him with five out of our eight fouls in the game though. I think that's a two match ban.
Brown came on for Harkins, which removed our main creative outlet. JCH replaced the hard working but disappointingly ineffective Stead (numerous wasteful offsides) and Latics rarely looked dangerous.
Brown got given the runaround and Latics survived a few hairy moments with Oxley looking solid with an impressive mix of saves and cross gathering. Then, in injury time, he made what appeared to be a decent save before spilling it into the path of their match winner.
We got a lot right today, although it wasn't pretty. The red card killed us. I'm still underwhelmed by Dayton and couldn't tell you what Worrall's contribution was from his deeper role.

Way to much long ball tonight as we didn't win a header up front.
Not sure why we tried to play that game.
Trouble was, we didn't have a plan B.
Disappointed tonight and we looked like a team with no idea. There where the odd spells but they where over just as quick as they started.
Missed a couple of players tonight who would have made a difference. Defence looked dodgy all night and Nott's knew it.

Posh weren't spectacular but they showed why they will be up there by winning that game today. However we didn't shame ourselves, some of their fans were praising us on the way out of the ground, which doesn't happen often
A few spoke to us and said 'oldham deserved a point today and being honest, played the better football'

First game for me today this season, due to living in Loughborough.
OK, we lost but I didn't come away from the game feeling as down as the last couple of seasons.
A huge difference to the style of play from under previous managers.
What stood out for me is that we played it forward from the back.
Any chance the keeper had to throw or roll it out, he did.
Peterborough, one game plan all game HOOOOFFFFFF it up to the front two.
I haven't seen that for many years from Oldham and to be honest, you don't get many teams in the 1st Div or championship playing like that.
I was impressed with the team and to say Peterborough who can spend 1.5 million on a player are one of the favourites to go up, we matched them but they had the luck today.
The football was good and Grounds and Tarks where great today, playing it out to feet rather than booting it,
It will come, it will just take time.

The first two remind me of 20 years ago. We use to put great crosses in and the quality of strikers with their head to put them in the back of the net.
-
I was concerned last night but after reading the posts from the meeting (thank you for feedback) I am feeling a lot happier about the appointment especially if he kicks the players up the arse. We may loose some of the players but so many of them don't give a toss what's the point of having them
Best bit is about smith in the championship. I hope I am proved wrong but he isn't ready yet.
-
Where he went wrong was not getting rid of pd before the end of 2012. Can't complain about everything else he has done.
I hope he doesn't jump ship when we go down. He would be the onlychance of having a club.
-
35 years of supporting this club and today is the lowest.
Ok, we have three games in hand, win them 3 and we are in a good position.
We have the best run in if you look at who's left to play
BUT
We haven't got anyone with the balls to fight. Most of them will walk away from the club in the summer.
I would give a better fight than anyone in the squad, even with my dodgy knees.

. Sums it up ?Paul Dickov was just a really :censored: manager, simple really.

So, three wins in a row that we haven't seen for a long time, so why the change. Has tp got us playing how we should have done all season with the team we have or has the few additions that pd brought in just before he resigned made the difference. I personally think its down to tactics that pd struggled with. When you are in front, attack.
-
Only if we stay up. If we go down it will all be forgotten very quickly.
-
We have proved we can play well, Liverpool, Mk dons last week and now today. Putting the other team under pressure and not sitting back is what we haven't been doing all season. Attack, attack attack.
-
It's dragged Preston and shrewsbury nearer to us. The more down there with us the better. There are a lot of six pointers in the next 15 games. 7 more wins and we should be fine, as easy as that ;).
-
A good point was made on another thread. If / when we go down, how much difference would it make to the numbers at the ho me games? They aren't great as it us, tbe ones the do turn up now will more than likely turn up in div 2.
-
you Cheeky monkey, not all of it smells. Most of it but not all of it.That's just the midlands.
-
We where saying the same thing during the warm up. Our pitch is in a great condition compared to theirs.
-
Notts county was the worst I have seen for a long time. We have the players we just need someone to get that performance out of them. Still not convinced its pd.
-
. Got to be out. Been supporting the club for 40 years. We have had some bad years but this year I can't see us staying up . Let's be honest, its not a surprise as we are just carrying on from the poor 2012 performances and results. If my performance at work was as crap as this I would have been out by now. I think pd does try but he is in his third season, on paper we have good players but something just isn't working.Judging on tonight's performance and what else you've seen..
Dickov in or out?
-
Absolute shocking performance. No one has a clue. I cant think of anything positive from sitting there tonight freezing my nuts off. Not one bit of excitement. The worse I have ever seen. How on earth a manager with his record can keep his job is beyond me. I don't think it helps when the players don't seem to give a toss. Things have got to change quickly as I am not wasting any more money watching that crap. Some of the play tonight was that poor, It's embarrassing

At least spell his name right ffs

What a prat. just let it go, enough damage has been done this week. Why can't he keep his mouth shut. He needs to go ASAP.
