  1. A fine idea - perhaps those who want to join in should send their funds to PlayerShare.

Standing orders or one-off payments to:

BENEFICIARY NAME: Trust Oldham PlayerShare Save-Scheme

SORT CODE: 16-27-11 (RBS Oldham Branch)

    ACCOUNT NUMBER: 10176108

And remember to shop online via the PlayerShare WebShop.

Vodafone have just been added and pay up to £90 for a contract, including £45 for a SIM only deal.

Apologies in advance but is the Playershare Webshop similar to quidco?? Was just thinking that a quidco account could be set up with all claimed cashback going to playershare. But I guess this is already happening here?

    Cheers

  2. From what I could see Jarrett give a dubious free kick away and the ref was not going to take any further action until Parkinson ran out shouting he'd already been booked. The ref then decided to show him a second yellow. And the ball was definitely booted at Parkinson.

Will wait to see the replay but thought Parkinson was out of order!!

  3. Another good performance tonight. Started where we left off on Saturday.

M'voto started off a bit dodgy giving the ball away early on which should have led to a Scunny goal but there foward mis-hit the shot giving Brill an easy save. Got better as the game went on but I wouldn't put him ahead of the other 3. Great play for our goal with Lee eventually crossing for the little fella to head in at the far post.

Their goal looked sloppy on our part from where I was sat. Flick on which should have been dealt with by JJ, which he missed giving their forward a run on goal who put it past Brill. The second was unlucky. Three or four shots were cleared with last ditch defending with it finally ending up with a strike from the edge of the area into the bottom corner.

Stephens hit the post via a deflection at 1 1 and we had a couple of late headed chances.

Dean Kelly and Bembo Leto had a tough job against their big centre halfs but showed some nice touches. Allesandra looked good again but faded in second half. Furman and Stephens good again in the middle. Black and Lee just get better and better. Even saw a bit more from Jones tonight.

All in all a thoroughly enjoyable game and great to see the young ones getting their chances.

  4. 14000 something, 600 ish from oldham.

Played the best I've seen us play in the first half. Good passing. Creative. Battling and desperately unlucky not to score. Then we lose one to more shoddy defending from hazell. Second half pretty much a non event until near the end when lee was sent off harshly. I only remember him making two fouls all game and he got booked for both of them. A lot of pressure from us at the end but not really looking like scoring then they score on the break. Surely taking Abbott off for Colbeck can't have been a tactical substitution. Was he injured?

Think thats a bit harsh on Hazell, headed away only for the ball to strike one of our players on the back.

  5. Encouraged by tonights perfomance. Definitely deserved a point at least.

In a nutshell - Hit the bar at 0-0 just after Hazell had a free header which he sent straight at the keeper. Their goal came in from the wing Hazell headed away and it hit the back of one of our players and fell straight at the feet of Robinson. Great finish to be fair. Thought Lee was unlucky to get sent off both fouls but never two yellows. Second half pretty much the same but Huddersfield did start to come into a bit more. Their second they caught us on the counter after we were pushing for the equaliser. Players looked gutted at the final whistle!

Can't see them going up if they play like that going into the playoffs, much better teams in there, but hard to judge on one game.

  6. injuries cancelations and lack of budget dont make it ok to have a team with a lack of passion comitment and effort. am pretty sure if everyone was puttin in 100% every game goin in for every 50/50 or even 40/60 and showing they wanted the ball and they wanted to win then most the fans would be happy but under penny there is none of that its just turn up go through the motion then go home. highlight of saturday was goodwin giving there left winger some stick just because goodwin was actually showing some fight and some passion

I agree some what that the current crop don't look like they want to play for the club but disagree on the passion side. I want to see a bit of skill out there as well as the passion. If I ever donned a shirt then I would give everything I've got but basically I'm crap. Doubt the fans would be happy with me!!

I know the league we're in we're never going to attract top quality but players who can pass and shoot would do me.

  7. I've still be going to every home game this season hoping that we could get all three points and must admit have found myself having to drag myself there for the last couple of games but if Penney does go how long will the next one get?

Gone are the days when managers/players stay at clubs for years (there are some exceptions) but we need someone who is going to have the chance to mould his own team.

I can't help thinking that we'll be in the same position come May!!

  8. Think you can tell he's still lacking match fitness and the first touch is not the best atm. But from what I have seen so far would like him to stay on.

Agree with OAFC1955 and hopefully we'll sign him for longer as I think with Heffernan and Pav up top it will be better than what we've seen for a good few years.

  10. Really happy now about getting Dave Penney after watching todays interviews.

Penney talks about us finishing where we have the last 3 seasons as "something to build on" so his brief/personal target is to improve on this, i.e. play offs or better.

He talks a lot about "attacking football", "fit, hungry players" , "promoting youth"".

Either him or SC said there would also be the odd "marquee player". So there are still going to be some decent signings by the look of it.

Yesterday many (me included to an extent) seemed to greet this appointment as if TTA's were putting a stop on any major spending and were going for a bargain basement manager who'd hopefully find some bargain basement players, however, it doesn't look like that now.

Didn't know an awful lot about him before today but the things he's said so far have got me really looking forward to next season and the comings and goings pre-season.

Excellent choice of manager TTA's

    Thank you yet again.

    Agreed.

I'll admit when I heard the rumours I thought Dave who? Then with reading his background and seeing his interview today I'm starting to get all excited again.

Hopefully a few decent players will be coming in and we could be up there again challenging. What a difference a day makes eh!!

And was it just me or did anyone else wonder as soon as DP said players from the Premiership if Paul Scholes name has already been mentioned to him. Just a thought

  11. For me a great choice.

Hopefully "Big Joe" the legend can work his magic again at little Oldham and have us playing quality attacking football in the Championship next season.

There will always be doubters on any decision (which is fine or the world would be a boring place) but from reading a few posts on here and speaking to my fellow Oldham mates the buzz is definately back.

    Thanks Si

  12. Any players even done this?

Someone asked the question in the Guardian a few years back and fans wrote in. Don't know how accurate it is though!!

"Judging by the response from our readers, quite a few players have notched up the full set, among them current Weymouth gaffer Steve Claridge, Trevor Hockey of Birmingham City and Sheffield United, and former Shrewsbury Town player-manager Alan Durban. Interestingly, Shrews fan and self-confessed pedant Andrew Wilson points out that Durban (and presumably everyone else) failed to play on one League ground in England: "To whit Scottish League side Berwick Rangers, whose ground is south of the border."

Joining Andrew in Pedant's Corner is Dave Cohen, who correctly points out that although there are 92 League clubs, they are not the same every season. Dave believes that the record for League-grounds-played-on is held by Rochdale assistant manager Tony Ford, who notched up over 1,000 senior appearances as a player. "As far as I recall he played at 100 grounds and the only possibilities he missed out on were White Hart Lane, Adams Park and Boothfield Road," he says. "
