I think Lewis has suffered from being a first team regular a bit too early, if he could've been used a bit more sparingly then he might have had a better season. The hat-trick against scunny shows he can find the net (the first took a big deflection but the 3rd was a beaut) if he had been able to keep ticking over in the Ressies an come off the bench when needed he might have flourished a bit more.

Wasn't Wolfy, Allessandra and Chris Hall prolific at youth/reserve level as well. As we all know the step up is a big one for a lot of players. Maybe worth a punt but unlikely we would as im sure DP is looking for a bit of exree transferperience in that department as we are woefully short of it!

Wolfie and Black will be on buttons, hardly going to be a make or break if they are kept on. I think it would be a mistake to let Black go, we have seen how difficult it has been to fill the left back spot since Griffin/Tierney (Charlton, Bertrand, Lomax, Jones, Golbourne, Coventry bloke, Hazell, Stam, Taylor) Regardless that Black isn't Maldini yet it doesn't make sense to get rid of a young kid who at worst can fill a shirt and stand near a touchline for 90 mins.

Allott has been offered a new contract. Do keep up!

I agree in principal, but, he has been released from an average Championship club. To get the same pay structure, he would have to go to another Championship club. If there are no takers, he will have to drop down a level, and that's were the manager's connection may prove influential.

 

You can see the usual 'wait until the last minute' fiasco happening again, but hopefully we will have all of our squad in place by then.

I would agree with most of that, not sure about Wolfy. I think JR will have suggested keeping him.

Northern Echo update. Penney reckons that are "a couple" of players that may interest him. Needs to decide which of the Darlo squad can do a job at League 1 level and where Latics need strengthening etc.

According to Darlo fans, he's off to Poland.

Would absolutely love to see us sign this lad, it's the sort of player we've needed since porter. Decent in the air, better on the floor, knows where the net is and actually puts the ball in it more often than not.

 

I cant remember him ever playing against us and not looking really dangerous.

Darlo fan here. I'm gutted we've lost DP, but I'd like to wish him all the best. This is his first season where every squad member was "his" player, and had we not been docked those points, I'm certain we'd have gained automatic promotion. I've also heard one or two players will be joining him, as well as MArtin Gary and Andy Collett, (who I rate very highly as a goalkeeping coach)

 

Anyway, all the best next season.
