After a lot of consideration about this thread, I think that there may well be some mileage in fans coming together as an informal group who are not constrained like the Trust.

I understand that the Trust are meeting this evening and I wish them well - I would love to see a proactive approach to try and elicit a change of behaviour from the owner and his  brother that would save the club from the untold damage that the current behaviour is creating.

My idea is that we act as something akin to a pressure group, no attempt to divide us will work because we would act as a group for the good of the Oldham Athletic support base. I feel that if 500 (maybe 1000) or so like minded, completely cheesed off, disillusioned supporters of OAFC pledge to attend games at BP only if certain conditions are made such as some of or all of :-

    (a) The owner/ Landlord and FLG or whoever resolve the current issues that blighted the North Stand and others on Saturday and that a compromise arrangement is agreed by all parties

    (b) That the owner ensures that all supporters of Oldham Athletic are not subject to unfair treatment in respect of which part of the stadium they choose to sit in

    (c) The club will make clear its management structure on and off-the-field and articulate exactly what role the owner/ Sporting Director/ Barry Owen/ Banide etc etc play in the recruitment, selection and coaching of the players

    (d) All club employees and creditors will be paid promptly and in full in accordance with EFL terms

    (e) The owners and commercial Director will provide fans with an update of how they seek to attract commercial income into the club and supplement the existing funding streams available to OAFC.

I envisage that this group would work with the Trust and the Club if mutually beneficial and be a positive as well as potentially negative force. Obviously within our powers is the potential to withdraw our support / boycott games etc.

We are all still OAFC supporters whether we attend or not / we are only a group that has come together to act as a catalyst for change - any thoughts??

    5 succinct points.

    Well worth consideration and discussion.

I hear so many times , dont read to much into friendly games,  but you get a bloody good indication as to what's in store for the new season and I believe its going to be a long hard season unless we add abit of muscle and leadership to this team

I'm usually Mr Optimistic - but I have to agree. - watching this afternoon's shambles on the OS called "highlights" ?? I seriously fear us seeing anything above 24th all season 😞

The worst thins is I missed it by like two or three years! Worse than that, back then it could be done . Oldham could compete with Man City , Leeds, now we can’t compete with fucking Salford. I won’t tjrow the towel in, I won’t become a city fan. But that’s the sad reality, I will hang in there For a promotion. Or England winning something , even tho the reason oldham will never rise, is the same reason England will never win anything ! We need the premier money to run out, run dry and reset button needs to be pressed!

    I know it's hard going.

But like I said at the end of last season after relegation - Latics are in my blood. Dad gave me that, and I'd still rather have this for all it's troubles than be City or United.

When it's going well - it's out of this world - think Fulham this year. Then it's followed by Doncaster away where the ref cost us about £750k, and who knows what in broken dreams.

Then the play-offs were possibilities again with our own Pete Wild (another local hero)

But...… every once in a while - it's Neil Redfearn 92nd minute penalty - - and I still cant watch that without filling up  - even at the age of 52!

Hang in there 22 - we will come good again one day!

    That's why we're all still here 😀

I literally have no happy days ! It’s shite!

It might be at the minute, but us that remember hang on to the "good old days" - when we can .

I know you youngsters don't like it, but before anyone starts moaning that we're harking back to the "old days" - we had to wait a long time for them to come around back then as well. It's only happened in one period of my 45 yrs supporting Latics I'm afraid :( - so we make the most of it  when the "anniversary " comes around again.

I live in hope in hope that it'll come round again before I pop me clogs - but I'm not holding my breath!

But it's Latics - and anything can happen 😀

Sadly this is where our problems started.

When we were in the prem we had a small minded div 4 board of directors. Their attitude was , Wow never thought I would live to see this so let's just enjoy it whilst we are here.

There was no attempt to try and sell the club or attract investment,  it was a bunch of old men with no foresight. When we did eventually get relegated our then board were just celebrating the fact we had 3 glorious years in the prem. The first thing they did after relegation was to clear out anyone earning more than £500 week.

Inevitably another relegation followed and the rest is history.

Look at the teams that finished below us when we won the old div2.

WHU, Newcastle, Leeds, Southampton, Wolves to name just a few and look where most of these are now. Also look at the stadiums they are playing in and the investments ploughed in.

I know their fan bases are much bigger than ours etc but teams like Burnley & Bournemouth have proved this doesn't need to be an obstacle.

I know people slam the likes of Moore's, Corney  and now AL but it all started with a group of very small minded business men who made one very lucky decision ( based on taking a cheap option ) by appointing Joe Royle.

We can only prey that sometime in the future whoever the owner is makes the same very lucky decision we did back in the 80s.

And then gives that manager some time in the hot seat to re-establish the nucleus of a squad

oh god I don't think I could cope with a Birkett exposure this time of night....well not in person.(shiver)

I genuinely have no idea what he is going on about nor have I had the opportunity to address what ever it is as I/or the Trust have done.

You shouldn't have to be subjected to this Tracey. No way!

Unfortunately there is always an extreme element appears when there are times of trouble. Bunch of Cowards - the lot of them!

Hope you are okay now. Hopefully in the ideals of James Bond - maybe shaken ,  - but not stirred! KTF and keep up the good work. SL

  7. Fair play to all those who went today. Proud of you with such a great turn out. Just watching MOTD and those at top of PL ain't perfect listening to the pundits.

We're L2 - we ain't going to be perfect either. Much as it frustrates us.

I love my job ( sad I know ) but I ain't always perfect at it either. Let's have a bit of perspective. Sometimes it's good (ie Fulham) and the rest of the time its just another day at the office - much as we wish it could be different.

Let it go peeps, if you think you can influence the ownership and direction of this club then you are misguided...observe the football and enjoy the game...the cycle of individuals taking out what the fans  have put in is not a new gig x

    Agree to a greater degree.

However, the worry now compared to previous years is we have no board - running a multi million pound business. In which other walk of life would you find this? ( and I'm usually the eternal optimist!) And you have you ever seen this turn out successfully?

Crowds are much improved this season. When was the last time we got 4,100 home fans against an outfit like Crawley Town?

Just had a look back (sad bastard ) and the attendance was 3,924 against them when we were going well under LJ in 2014.

    Impressive stuff.

    I'd say that's impressive tbf.

4 yrs later and a league lower - and I believe they only brought 62. COYB.  ?

Don’t get the secrecy about all the injuries. Who do they honestly think they are..? It’s not MI5, society will not crumble due to the fact the club revealed Andy Taylor has broken his ankle or something. Just be fucking straight and tell us. No one had any idea Miller or Surridge were injured until today. Why are they so obsessed with secrecy? Why won’t Sam the media bloke ask some proper fucking questions... The clubs a joke. Pains me to say this but as much as Corney was a total c***, i’d rather have him right now than Abdallah who seems hell bent on being an ego maniac suspending players when he feels like it. Setting up and scraping a point at Forest agrees f’n Rovers. Jesus fucking wept.

I know everything isn't rosy in the garden right now, but bear with him. FB says he's in to rebuild, and this will take time. He's asked fans for patience. We haven't got the fully fit team out there yet.

Seem to remember Joe Royle's first season we survived on goal difference over Derby. And look what happened after that.

Also, remember Wigan coming down from Championship not so long ago?  Did nothing up to Christmas, then flew up the league. This is a rebuild from the inside out and is going to take time unfortunately.

Hang on in there. This is Latics. It can, and will happen again for us, -  one day :)
