  1. He does / has split opinions; your right about that.

I felt Eardley showed all the signs, when he was here, of being able to play at a higher level than L1. He's obviously gone on the show that with Blackpool.

For me; if you look at right backs from mid to low Premiership teams - IMO Eardley is no better but certainly no worse than them - I'm talking about the likes of Phil Bardsley, Sam Ricketts, Emerson Boyce et all.

I think, when we sold him, we should have looked to have put another £100K on his fee; to make nearer the Half Million mark I and plenty of other rated him at.

Since when is Neal Eardley as good as Phil Bardsley?? Also why keep using semi colons especially where they shouldnt be...

  2. You clearly dont listen to the guardian football podcast.

I think we will finish bottom 7 with the current squad.

I had a feeling that part would backfire. Still, i dont expect us to be challenging for promotion but Im certain we wont go down. Regardless of who he is the content is pretty inaccurate in my opinion. Especially his contradictions i.e. Chesterfield

  3. that really irritates me. The person involved clearly has no knowledge of division. to think rochdale will finish in the top half and we will go down! Finishing beklow the likes of Yeovil, Hartlepool and Wycombe!!!! Its laughable at best. And although Huddersfield are promotion candidates I very highly doubt they will win the league. Plus its a bit contradictory to truthfully acknowledge our reserve team chesterfield will struggle due to losing players and then tip them for the top half!!!??

  4. Sunderland must be mad giving him a new deal. I know they will be paying him less than pocket money compared to other players but whats the point. Three words can be used to sum him up, despite his hard work: Touch Of Rapist. Nobody, despite other strengths, could possibly ever make it in the premier league as a centre forward with such a poor first touch, never mind the horrendous inability to take chances. Dont get me wrong I like him, and as I say he works hard, but he is a million miles away from ever cutting it with Sunderland. Nearly every player has that "moment of magic" in them.

  5. I'll be honest Lags, I think we're nailed on certs to go down. We've shipped Brill, Hazell, Stephens, Jones, Tonk, Evina, White etc… and promoted kids from the yoofs and signed more kids. We need quality and experience but don't have the money for that. I admire PD's optimism but players will not come here and play for brass buttons. JYM is the exception.

As it stands there's no goals in the team and no creativity in midfield and the defence is shockingly young, not necessarily a bad thing, but who's going to lead out of Cisak, Lee, Black, Tarky and JYM? I know there's time to get the players in but I simply do want to see another team top heavy with loanees that fails year after year, usually because after a good start the loanees start to go through the motions.

Complete bollocks. Were only at the start of July, why would you asses our position with this squad when we are obviously not going to be stuck with it? What sort of a fan, before transfrs have even been made, dismisses the season as guaranteed relegation, especially conbsidering its not going to happen!

  6. I wouldn't mind him (or anyone, providing they are good enough) making our midfield tick either. But there is about as much chance of him making a midfield tick (in any decent standard of football) as there is of me going to Tokyos tonight and pulling Scarlett Johansson.

He is a poor player. That's why he wasn't good enough for us, or Hartlepool. He gives the ball away in midfield far too often, and he is massively lightweight. The reason he was often played out of position is that he wasn't good enough to play in the centre of our (or Hartlepools) midfield.

Agreed. One of the least penetrative midfielders I have seen in a long time, wasnt good enough when he played, creativity zero. Whoever said we were better when h played is talking rubbish

  7. In all honesty I think its fair enough that it only applies to those 21 and under. The idea of that is that they are still financially dependent upon their parents; a 28 year old shouldnt be. Th fact that thy are still in education is irrelevent, money will b tight for lots of people in Oldham, but regardless, still worth a punt

  8. Admittedly im not sure who it could be, but I think we can rule out Warner- looks nothin like him in my opinion, but yeah theres no better shouts as yet. Something tells me its not a keeper- looks more the build of a centre back or forward to me, plus thee are v limited half cast keepers , let alone that tall, also if it were non league I dont think goalkeeper is a position youd take a punt on with a goalkeeper. Plus, I know its not necessarily true, but Paul Gerrard said he had noone to work with at training... or why would gerrard be there if he knew there was no keeper?
