  1. I have to say that i am surprised at Ademeyi's reaction to what according to reports was a fairly commonplace insult. that's not to trivialise the offence but in my opinion this sort of thing is hardly a rare event but the reaction most certainly was. players of different nationalties and race regularly face abuse and its designed to put them off their game. It clearly worked this time but most players learn to "get on with it".

    .

  2. Im not on about boosting the crowd but on about if we beat Southend a Latics fan who has been home or away and got a season ticket holder who might loose there ticket to some United fan.

Understand that, however we need to cash in on the interest in the Liverpool game and my suggestion might say put another 1000 on the Southend gate, which would not impact on season ticket holders and those people who have attended other away games as long as they attended the game. It seems to make good commercial sense.

  3. This Is The New Kit Design For Next Season :) It Seems Abit Ruffled Round The Edges But Is Only An Artists Impressions I Guess

Very nice indeed. Like the tangerine trim and if we reverted to the tangerine away kit with , say blue trim and blue shorts I would be very pleased

  4. I have just got home having stayed to the end. But it was noticeable today how many people, having spent time and money to get to Brighton, were walking out well before the end. I cannot altogether blame them.

The first half was dire. We had one shot and gave them a couple of goals which made you wonder where our defence vanishes to at times. Second half perked up a bit. We were looking decent and making Brighton look the shaky team they are. When we scored, it was well earned on the balance of play and I thought we would get another. But immediately, we gave away as soft a goal as you will ever see and that was that. Although we still had more of the play, we never again really looked like scoring.

Any positives? Eardley played well, Taylor and Alessandra worked hard and Lee looked a clever lad but disappeared from the game quickly. Some decent things from Jones and Gregan at times. But Hazell does not look the player of six months ago, nor Allott the one that was so good last season. Bigger defenders meant Wolfy was easily taken off the ball and I fear that will always be the case for him. All in all, another depressing day out.

How did you get back so quick ?

  5. Fully agree they are the best 6, but the best team doesnt always win do they? Never give up, you never know where belief can take you! In the last two to three weeks, the Tranmere fans have really pulled together, sung our hearts out and gotten wins against Leicester, Hudders and you lot because of it, and I strongly believe it can take us to Wembley

Tranmere outpassed us today and their style of football was good. Thought the big fella up front played intelligently and they fully deserved to win.

  6. I'd like to thank Sheridan for his commitment and hard work to the Latics cause, he remains a Latics legend

I am sure he will have learned a great deal and will be a better manager for his experience, should he choose to get back into the game in the future

I get the feeling however he was running out of ideas in the last few weeks, and I think TTA have made a timely intervention which will inspire the fans and more importantly the players to perform at a level we know they are capable of. Royle was always a great motivater and if this and the enthusiasm of the fans rubs off on the players we should see a much improved attitude from the players

Come on you Blues, the play offs are there for the taking -you can do it !!

  7. I was pleased Windass came on as he at least has the ability to pick out a pass that could open up a defence which for all his energy Kabba doesn't, and our midfield never looked like providing any service to the 2 forwards

Our central midfield lacked any guile and Jones looked poor without Taylor in front of him

Very poor performance, especially first half, but having watched the Leeds game I shouldn't have expected much better as we couldn't string 3 passes together in that game either

Ultimately we haven't put a decent run together all season to give me any confidence for the play offs, and we are totally inconsistent, capable of beating Leeds one week, then getting hammered by Hereford the next. We seem to lack any mental steel.

  8. Yes, it's called cheating.

    No it's called embellishing.

Taylor WAS fouled but he exaggerated it to make sure the Ref was aware of it. Ronaldo does the same, and my view is that Ref's see the embellishing and then become undecided as to whether they are being conned. Much better in my view not to do embellish and go down as "naturally" as possible and you would get your just desserts more often

  9. Yes I agree Derek. We needed somone to play the crucial role of hitting the corner flag from 1 yard out and not passing to Hughes in front of an open goal and then most importantly to get the sarnies from Tesco's at half time with Alan Hardy.

Also, Windass was anonymous after he went in the net. He just wasn't linking up with Hughes at all and his distribution was very poor. Perhaps if he'd put in a bit more effort in with Eardley we might have got the winner but NO he just seemed content to just hang around our goal with a big GREEN shirt on. That sort of display won't get us in the Championship.

Excellent post ! I couldn't agree more.

  10. In light of the 'Hughes is off' type of threads of late I am going to put my own take on the situation.

Today was my first chance of seeing the 'lardy dirty bastard that everyone hates but would love in their team' playing in our sacred blue.

I can't believe how much I actually enjoyed watching him play compared to the frustration I garner from watching the head down approach of Lee Hughes.

Windass is an infintesimally better footballer than Hughes purely because he adheres to the basics. He is willing to lift his head up and play others that are in better positons into goalscoring opportunities. He sacrifices his own self glory and adulation for the good of the collective.

Of course, whilst we were having our 15 minutes of running riot in the first half he should have scored, Hughes is a head down within 20 yards player and :censored: everyone else.

For me Hughes can go, for nothing if it be that he doesn't want to sign his contract. If he wanted top stay the ink would have been dried already.

Give me a team player every day, some of his passing was sublime.

In my opinion TTA would be well advised to stop chasing around after LH and turn their sights upon a better footballer in Windass.

His up front play today was quality and long may it continue.

    Derek.

  11. Will prove to be a great signing and I enjoyed him giving the Stockport fans the finger and verbals whilst celebrating Hughsey's goal.

    " A different class"

Windass's vision and touch created the goals and he looked class to me without ever looking like scoring himself

Delightful balls for Hughes and Taylor - good players see the pass early and Dean has that ability. Taylor (I think) almost scored another from a glorious "lift" pass in the penalty area

He will be a great asset for the team and hopefully some of our other front players will learn from him and realise running around like a bat out of hell isn't the only way of opening up defences

  12. ????????

Special praise to Smalley, Lomax, Hazell and Stam for me.

Crossley also had a sound game apart from one dodgy right foot clearance (why did he not just kick for touch rather than distance knowing he was on his weaker foot) and one time he punched rather than caught a cross.

McDonald and Allott also did very well

  13. Now sit at back of Chaddy, off centre Sheepfoot Lane side, mainly to meet mates and for atmosphere (also cheaper to take son !)

Have been on every area on the ground over the years - best views I'd say near front of Upper Lookers and Upper Main stand.

When there was standing used to enjoy the Chaddy on the wooden planks ! them wert days !
