They just won on penalties
-
I'm confused.
Are we playing Rochdale away in the Carling Cup or Napoli away in the UEFA cup?????
Get a grip eh.
Embarassing.
Yeah its a dump Rochdale but it's hardly rough!
-
I would join the Telegraph one as I have a team but i'm already in a Superleague. Not sure if you can join more than one? It doesn't seem to be working.

If he knows his mind isn't right he's made a good decision to move on. I personally don't see him being recalled either as batsman or skipper in future.
As for the replacement, I really don't think Pieterson would be a great captain. Too selfish. Great player, but I don't think the added responsibility of leadership will change him.
The Rob Key option intrigues me. He's never quite been good enough for the test side, but suddenly people say he should run the show? Odd, but I like the idea of an outside influence coming in to freshen things up.
Collingwood blew it as a poor one day captain, deteriorating after a promising start. Flintoff proved that bowler's shouldn't captain the side.
Which brings me to Strauss. Who had a short spell in charge a couple of years ago and did well.
So Strauss or Key for me.
Any other suggestions?
Cook or Strauss for me. Cook could really be developed as one of England's best if he is made captain. Just like Smith and South Africa.

Yes, to be blunt.

Yup wasn't too impressed with Hull really but I'm sure they'll be a lot better in the prem. Boateng was garbage.
We looked pretty decent tonight, O Grady looks like a fantastic signing, great on the ball, played some wicked balls across the goal inviting someone to just put them away. I'm really unsure about Phillips though, good footballer yes, very comical as well but he doesn't to have a clue where he should be on the field, kept drifting too far inwards in the first-half, moving him to left-back was a pointless exercise as well. Going off his first-half performance I just don't think he's good enough. Lomax was alright as well but could have done better preventing the cross that led to the Hull goal? Back to the drawing board Shez, we need some good left-sided players. Flemings saves were awesome!
Yeah agree with that. Phillips looks a very good team player, but does not actually seem to know where the left wing is. O'Grady looks very good, dont know what the Rotherham fans were talking about. But Hull will go down, they are not going to score goals.

£10 (£5 conc)
Right thanks for that, still think its a bit steep for a friendly, having said that the Dale match on Friday was double those prices!!
-
Anyone know the price of the friendly against Hull??

She is very helpful. Whenever i hav a spare season ticket she often always allows me to change the number to thta of a child so i can ask a mate to come.

Such a legend-my prayers are with his family.....
Ernie for England!!!!
R.I.P. mate

Just subscribed mate

That's what happens when you throw money at a club without balancing the books.
Still feel for them.
-
Thought Dickison looked decent and midfielders- Dickers and Turnbull??? Got mixed up between them....but for kids they ran it against Jones. Oh and Perkins is not that good, honest, just does the occasional mazy run and gets sent off for fun.
-
doesnt every club has it's fans who think the players are world beaters. I certainly know Latics do.
As for who could walk into our team, or at least walk onto the bench.
Tommy Lee - Hard to believe he's Macclesfield's number 3. One of the best shot stoppers i've seen in recent seasons. Decent kicking as well, especially under pressure
Stanton - A younger version of the Gregan mould
Rundle - Tricky left winger with an actual left foot, runs at defenders and beats his man time and again
Perkins - On his day the best midfielder in League 2.
Dagnall - Scored for fun despite being injured for 6 months of the season
Lee-seems your average league 2 keeper TBH, having said that not seen as much of him as the others
Stanton-pace and a fat arse, decent tackler, but to say he is much more than bench warmer is pushing it.
Rundle- Average league 2 winger
Perkins- Nasty piece of work, remember when they played Morecambe, can be quality made one noticable run. Before that hadn't noticed he was on the pitch. (cue size jokes )
Dagnall-Not seen enough of him Tbh. But yeah would take a look at him judging by his goals.
My mate told me this is the same team bar a few as Parkin had. The same players that were previously fighting relegation. I think if we wanted anyone it would be Hill-he has certainly got the best out of the players.
-
I also hate Rochdale despite living here for my whole life!! Think its because of some of the most totally blind disilusioned fans they have and i happen to know. They belive every player they have would walk into our team. And yes ive seen about 5 matches of Dale this season and there is not one i would consider taking. At all. Possibly Gary Jones-but even he is past it.
Just loathe them utterly.
-
You could say he was fault as well for Walcotts goal. Beat him for pace completely. Still means we can hold on to him for longer so he can develop that midfield role
-
Good luck Gaz-will always remember that goal!!!
-
Looked very sharp, 15 goals in a poor side is not bad going. Worth looking into.
-
I was sat in the same area and you're dead right, that's exactly what he did, the people round me laughed at it. I don't know where this 2 fingered salute nonsense came from as it never happened.
If people have to make stuff up about the manager because they don't like him then perhaps it's time they looked at supporting someone else.
Agree it was not the fingers

Thanks for that, I'm retired now from the professional game now, but still receive phone calls from one of my old colleagues at a Premiership club.
It won't surprise many to hear they had never heard of Akinde, and these days clubs seem to be more swayed by agents than scouts.
I assume someone from the Latics management checks out this fine website, if not they should certainly do so. In general loyal fans are a mine of information and more knowledgeable than given credit for.
One of my recommendations from earlier this season on this board midfielder Adam Miller (the one with long hair and head band) went from non league Stevenage to Gillingham and gave a fine display I thought at Boundary park last week.
There are many more talented young players out there and it was good to see Latics give a trial to Kia Nelson this week in the reserves as he looks well worth following up.
Yes that Miller was impressive i thought-
BP1960 you know where we have got this Kia Nelson on trial from??
-
Good luck Trotters hope you fufil your massive promise in the game.
Also we played Latics for not getting screwed over
-
Yeah i heard Preston mentioned but not that fee.....
-
Square pegs in round holes comes to mind with this Latics team.
Exactly and thats the only reason we are not advancing
-
wasn't there a young lad who was Mascot the ether week when we had a couple,. Was passing better than Kilkenny during the warm up. I seem to remember him being attached to someones academy though. It might have been mentioned by announcer (Who's name has totally escaped me at this moment. Its the Dementia you know).
Yeah i remember that, the kid was at Liverpol however. Philiskirk was watching him goggled eyed though!!!!
Only took them 5 minutes then..
