When the throw was taken on the right side of the pitch, Oztumer was stood 2yards from the thrower. He runs off and Fane follows him towards the box. 5seconds later Oztumer is the furthest player on the left side of the penalty box unmarked tapping in from 2yards out.

    this is worse than Robinson

Agreed I had to watch it again to make sure it was him who popped up to finish it, outrageous really. He looked a cracking player though.

  2. Heard from my mate in Asia on Saturday that we were live on tv over there. I personally thought it was a load of bull at the time. Then out of curiosity I googled Oldham v Swindon TV and got a TV schedule result! I can't believe people will tune in to Latics around the world when we just thought we were the only unlucky ones to be put through it.

Anybody else heard of us being on TV abroad and not over here before this one?

Do you know what channel it was please? I did a quick searcha nd couldn't find anything. At the moment I live in Taipei and thought I was unable to see the mighty Latics so any help on this would be appreciated :) :)

    Thanks!

  3. The reason he doesn't run into the middle of the pitch (and this is my take cos I've never asked him) is because he is feeling the personal touch, the verve from the crowd, the buzz of excitment, the intimacey of emotion and the collective power of emotion generated from all those individuals to enhance his exultation of scoring. Now you may say there's no exultation generated in the away ranks when a goal is scored against them, however there is a great power felt when the massed ranks look on in defeat whilst you celebrate with the exuberance and they are powerless to end it. It's human emotion. Football is an emotive entity that goes back to basic animal instinct and that my brothers is why we are addicted and love it. It's tribal and takes us back to animal human kind and not pc kind. We walk out the ground and rejoina world where we all can live and survive together. On the terraces we are our race, not one race.

Don't often post here BUT.... I wish there was a *bow* emote!

  4. "Luke (Waterfall" is just 18, he's six foot three and he's strong and powerful. He's the old fashioned type of centre half. Nowadays there's a lot who want to play, get on the ball and pass it. He's going to be the type who ends up with a lot of stitches because he's brave. He puts his head in where it hurts. He will score goals at this level as well."

    HOOF

  5. Another sunny day in the Wilson House...

Ok then Derek - we finished 8th last year, and if it wasnt for an abysmal start and terrible injuries we could have been in the playoffs... what makes you think that after adding substantial depth, the kids being a year older, and getting our players fit that we will suddently be "nowhere near promotion" ...???

Now, i'm not saying we are nailed on certs, but it was widely accepted what we needed was better depth and a decent physio.. for me that is what we have achieved... or are these all a step backward to you?

Granted, it isnt the clibre of player immidiately... however we dont know how good some of the players are, and I can tell you thismuch - Hughes and Davies are a damn sight better than Corrazin and Andrews who played most of that season up front!

True IMO, thought Corrazin got a lot of undeserved stick sometimes but cant disagree with that, personally would have Andrews back but that is beside the point. If Wijnhard has stayed fit that season I personally think we would have gone up.

  6. Eardley is extremely solid of us, a great right back at this level and with definite potential, yes his crossing can be hit or miss but with his passing half the time he hasn't had an experienced right winger infront of him to pass to, therefore has to either chip it or try a more ambitious ball....Eardley is a cracking player and I would definitely want around 750k+ from him....IMO more proven than Trotman.

  7. Correct me if I am wrong but Wolfenden is out of contract at the end of the season is he not? If I was him I would be worried as to whether he is going to be here next season, I think if Alessandra signs a new contract that would give us Davies, Hughes, Alessandra and I am sure Shez will purchase another striker in the summer.

What do you guys think? Personally I thought he did relatively well today, I just think that with him being out of contract he will not be retained if we can secure Alessandra and then bring in another striker. I dont see enough goals from him.

  8. 1998-2001 Andy Ritchie

    2001-2002 Mick Wadsworth

    2002-2003 Iain Dowie

    2004-2005 Brian Talbot

    2005-2006 Ronnie Moore

    2006-Pres John Sheridan

Looking at this is it any wonder we have not been promoted?

The only person who had enough time to do settle in was Ritchie, he did a fantastic job to keep us from being relegated and when he did get the money and we were making progress Moore sacked him.

Even if Sheridan makes mistakes I personally feel it is imperative that we keep him, whether we dont get promoted this season OR next.

  9. I know I will get abused by this suggestion and I know its pure fantasy as it will never happen BUUUUUUUUT

Would it be rather amusing to see Ronnie's and his sons reaction if we actually cheered them. I bet they would think what is going on here. They will have their thick tin hats on ready for the game and it would just be a massive shock if we changed tack from the booing and the abuse!

As it stands I really don't care he signed for his dad, would have been a completely uninspiring signing IMO.

  10. i agree re. taylor....did you notice, the TWO times he did not cut in and stayed on his left foot today...he beat his man

Thats the exact point why I would move him back to the right hand side, he can beat his man get to the line and put in a decent cross. Today was a mess from Sheridan I agree, why Hazell at left back?!?! He looked slightly shakey as a right back so why the impression that he could play left back better than Lomax?

Has Sheridan stated that Taylors position is the left wing? I see flashes from Taylor on the left but I think we need to get him back onto the right, especially when we are missing liddell and have no real recognised right winger on that side. Why have two square pegs in round holes when you can have one?

  11. it went across his chest...100%.

Either my eyes have failed me but I definitely saw him signal for a free kick for them, didn't see it go anywhere near his chest....but the penalty was given at the end of the day so any argument about it is trivial.

Should have won the amount of chances we had....wonder if it might be beneficial practising hitting the ball high towards the goal in training rather than on the deck.

  12. Agree with everything you say Rocky apart from

Swansea's defender in the first minute for being the last man.

Rules have changed unfortunately, you can only get sent off for denying a "clear goalscoring opportunity" as the ball was going near the corner flag the incident could not be deemed a goal scoring opportunity.

Special mention for Allot and Greegan from me, Allot proved that he is a very good and tidy midfielder at this level who can put in a tackle or two if needed (although for me this is not his game). Greegan was a rock at the back but did tend to stray up the field a couple of times and I can see him getting caught out for that.

Kilkenny did well, although his stray pass led to their goal as he tired towards the end, no doubt he will be a cracking player for us as will kalala who tacked and harried everything in sight.

Davies was marvelous upfront for us and ran their defense ragged.

Ricketts did tire, it is not his game to chase everything. He constantly had the attention of two defenders because Tate could not handle him on his own therefore led to more space for Davies IMO, a very very useful player at this level.

It was very nice to get the victory even though we didn't deserve it, how many times has that happened to us!

  13. To be fair I was just discussing this.

If we take the worst case scenario and say that Hughes and Ricketts turn out to be rubbish, the point I make is Hughes and Ricketts' rubbish performance more effective than Warney running around? I would say yes. Then if you add ot the fact that this is the absolute worst case scenario we have still moved forward from last season.

  14. On the Citeh theme, what about Ishmael Miller? Played a few times last Season in The Prem but I would think he will be slipping down the pecking order now SGE has the Thai's cash to splash.

Very quick (fastest player at Citeh according to Micah Richards) and also quite big as well. Would fit the bill nicely for me at this level.

Good shout, would be a cracking player at this level unfortunately I cannot see it :(. I do think we need some kind of battering ram though.

  15. I agree with Stevie, very petty and we seem to making a habit of spitting our dummy out, Porter and his agent have done nothing against the rules.

They can't moan about Porter saying he wants to stay when they told the very same thing to Warne.

Was just about to post the exact same thing here as I did on the other board, fully agree with you on this Senor. Here is my post:

Although I am gutted for the club and especially TTA as a large cut of 700k is an awful lot of money to mis out on I cant help but ask why is this being posted on the official site?

Granted Porter and his agent may have done all those things, mentioned numerous times that he wants to stay, he wants to sign but at the end of the day if Paul Warne is to be believed and we did infact offer him a deal to stay on and pull out what gives us the right to turn to Porter and slate him for (in principal) doing exactly the same thing?

I will not be liked on here for this post but most of us in Porters position would do exactly the same. We cannot take the moral high ground with Porter when we did a similar thing to Paul Warne, unfortunately this is football and this kind of thing happens.

  16. I agree, irrespective of what happened if they had not lost the last game of the season then relegation would not have happened, in essence it is their own fault. I have sympathy to a point but there has to be a line drawn in the sand somewhere and you just have to move on to concentrate on next season!
