If people want to go to this then by all means go and at 56p a goal it appeared to be decent value for money but let's get 2 things straight.

 

1. The introduction of U23 teams to this tournament will be of absolute no benefit whatsoever to the future success of the England team.

 

2. Suggesting that this is not the forebearer of B teams in the football league is abit naive they are gunning to get the B teams in the football league. Put through for their own benefit obviously and not for ours.

 

That said as someone said a better tester would be what happens when we play at home to an U23s team.

However, I'm not particularly bothered about all the politics behind it. I enjoy going watching my team play football, regardless of who they play. I'm sure a large proportion of fans are the same.

I don't get the big fuss here. To watch your team play a game of football for £5 is surely a no brainier?

Pre season friendlies are pointless and people still turn up to those! And fans weren't arguing amongst themselves then.

Kelly was worth far to us than these figures mentioned. It baffles me that people think he's overrated or not needed.

 

Not disputing that Main and Holloway have improved us, Main reminds me of Warne, never gives the ball up and Holloway is what Cassidy should've been. Playing them up front together isn't working though and won't cos their qualities don't include bagging the goals we'll need to stay up and ultimately that's what is going to cost us.

But playing with Murphy is the equivalent of playing with 10 men. He offers nothing.

Fantastic at winning the ball, awful at distributing it. 15 minute period in first half where he won it and just played a horrendous pass out of play. Needs to win it and pass it 10 yards max, preferably to Mike Jones who can ping a ball left and right. Dare I say it but this is why I thought Dean Furman was great for us, cos he could win it and distribute it

Murphy might get 8 goals between now and May, we will probably still be waiting on Cassidy getting to that many this time next year, I know who I am picking.

Perhaps the case today but the original post I quoted was talking about generally, which is total garbage if you've watched the previous three games.

I have seen the previous games and I'm not one to get carried away. I personally think he suits a team that creates chances (and we don't), so we will see how he gets on in the next few weeks

It's annoying to see the same myths trotted out every time. 'Winchester doesn't run or head' or 'Murphy only finishes'.

I'm not saying "Murphy only finishes". You can't defend Murphy's performance on poor service today. It was a poor performance due to the fact he couldn't control the ball on numerous occasions which would have given us a chance at goal. There's no myth in that.

Utter rubbish.

 

He is very clever and makes some great flicks and passes - today he often found passes go astray of him, whether behind him or ahead of him. Plus he is made to work with a complete donkey, whose hold up play he puts to shame...

All of that is irrelevant. When he did get the ball today he cocked it up

I agree with all of the above apart from Murphy. First half he got the ball probably 4 times in a a promising position and his first touch was appalling each time and let him down. Once it nearly cost us a goal

Of all the things wrong with this team you choose to start a thread on Liam Kelly..... The one player who is clearly a class above and gives 100% each week.

If players can't score, it doesn't matter on the formation. Playing 4-4-2 doesn't instantly make them better footballers.
