I really rate Korey.
Carries the ball well from halfway to opposition box. Not used to that!
He's been brilliant for us. Would be a key player next season if we can keep him.
-
I'm quite optimistic for next season. LJ will get his own players in and I think we will be much stronger. Top half would be a good improvement but I think the manager will be aiming for promotion.
-
So have you bleedin' well worked it out yet?
Think I spoke too soon, 3 in 3 since I posted ?
-
We are safe! There's no way Scunthorpe beat both MK Dons and Swindon
-
Might be a risk but think he deserves his chance after playing well in the reserves recently. LJ definitely gives youth a chance.
-
Second yellow for not taking a throw in quick enough. Nice
-
The same thing happened at Swindon we looked a threat until smith and iwelumo came on.
-
But we keep starting with Simpson and Barnard and we look as week as piss.
LJ should have changed it last night but he didn't.
We can't keep hoping those 2 will get it going because its not happening.
We need a change from the start.
Am I the only one who thought we played very well in the first half last night?
-
I'm not being funny mate but Simpson doesn't bully anyone at League 1 level and you want him to play as target man?
Simpson has played 1 good game this season IMO (Forest away).
I would obviously like someone better to play as a target man just think simpson gives more than smith.
Last night I would have liked to keep Barnard on and play the way we did in the first half
-
Simspon did OK first half before tireng - but he didnt create anything and he had one effort on goal all game which he put well wide.
as for Smith No heading ability??? sorry disagree. Against Tranmere he won virtually ever header he contested and its not the only team hes done that agaist - we usally dont have anyone near him to pick these up but how often has he had an out an out striker with him~?
No power? watch the liverpool hightlights again and watch him bang Skrtel and Coates all over BP. Look at Everton away when he cames on. Hes very effective in the air his biggest problem is his lack of mobility and that he needs crosses into the box to be effective and we dont do that with any quality. But the 40 yard freekick we were launching from deep last night were crying out for Smith to try and get on the end off. Its predictable im not saying it would work but last night we had 0 arial threat in prestons box and smith gives you that at least.
Everyone keeps going back to the Liverpool and Everton games. Yes he played well in those games but he doesn't bully defenders at league one level, that is our bread and butter.

Height, Power, Strength, Heading ability. Movement and pace sub standard but in the first 4 hes better than Simspon has scored more goals than Simspon and when we are crying out for someone to hold the ball would be a better option. Simspon has been anything but super this season and while he did OK for 45 mins last night he just isnt a target man
As a note last night we saw latics at thier most brain dead - on more than once occasion we launched the ball forward after smith came on only to send it towards Millar - stupid.
In the 1st half we had plenty of corners and freekicks but only had Mvoto to aim at - Smith gives you another target
Simpson held the ball up well last night and won his fair share of headers. Smith has height yes, strength and power no. Heading ability definitely not.
-
0-0 wasn't it?
We created a lot more and played much better football without smith.
-
It worked fine in the 1st half
-
Keep Barnard on. Play simpson as the target man because he is much better in the air. Baxter or Kirk Millar in around him plenty of better options there.
-
Yes he wins a few headers but when he does the ball hardly ever goes to one of ours, he is terrible on the deck and his movement and pace is non existent.
I can't see why LJ keeps bringing him on.
-
I thought Mellor did really well in centre midfield on Saturday. I wouldn't put him wide left as he doesn't have the pace for that position. Reid and Millar give us the pace needed especially if we are playing the majority of the game on the counter attack which I think is likely.
-
I would go with
Bouzanis
K.Smith M'Voto Tarkowski Grounds
Millar Mellor Wesolowski Reid
Baxter
Barnard
Opinions?
-
Played full game today too lightweight for this division and had a poor first half should of been one of the players subbed but in fairness was not the only player not putting up a fight today
I thought he was our most dangerous player in the first half.
-
If you're going to put an asterisk anywhere in Dickov's name, surely you'd put it after the D?
I agree 110%
-
Well over 500, easy.
I hope your right
-
We should be looking to take around 500-700 new ground and the win last night should boost the attendance
I was thinking about 500. That's plenty to create a good atmosphere
-
Coach from the Bluebelle in Royton is always a good laugh (and piss up)
I'm really looking forward to Saturday now.
Lets make some noise and get behind the lads.
-
We were very good! Pressing high up the pitch in numbers was the best thing for me but we've got much harder tests to come, Hartlepool were awful. Roll on Saturday
