I think 2nd is realistic if we can maintain this. Obviously points on the board are the main thing but we have 2 games in hand on Bromley and play them at home. Lots of if’s and but’s but if we do win those 3 it takes us 4 points from them. We have a lot of winnable games coming up which could potentially put us right up there, and then we have some crucial games nearer the end of the season which will be massive. I fancy we’ll have 2 10k home crowds in the coming months too which would be great to see!

Not getting too carried away yet though…. This is latics remember.

And you know what we do with winnable games

  2. I remember seeing his dad play against us one wet November night at Scunthorpe as a scrawny young kid ( l think Keegan might have been in the side as well - but might have got one wrong ). Which ever half it was, we gave him hell for every single minute (and by we, l mean us lot behind the goal ). He looked terrified most of the half.

I think we won 3 - 2, but again could be wrong.

  3. We have already seen during the course of this season, indications that unless the owner/management think you are the right sort of person to play for this club, then offers will be withdrawn. I suspect that if offers are put to a player, and he shows any sign of indicating a wish to await to see if something better comes along, then said off will be withdrawn.

Get something at Aldershot Saturday to keep the League unbeaten run going, then we have 4 very winable home games on the bounce in 14 days.

Things could look much more rosey by the middle of Feb....we could even be higher tyan 17th 😁

We are Latics  -  it could also go the other way. Seventy two years of supporting, does this sort of thing to you.

    Great being old

You can actually say 'I was there half a century or more ago, when you were just a glint in your father's eye

It was a real man's game back then, non of this rolling around in agony and holding your face nonsense, when someone's breathed on you and defenders putting in tough challenges, all fair mind.

How I miss Proper football, a far cry from the garbage we're stuck with right now.

Anyone else remember when Frank Large played a Half with a broken leg !

We have always had a small minority who whinge and moan like f*** at every little thing .This board is becoming real negative despite all the good things happening at the club. Really is unbelievable , we were almost Bury MK2  4 days from oblivion . We are in the National League on merit because we have had conesecutive crap owners who ran the club into the ground. There is no easy fix its going to take some time and no amount of moaning is going to help.  The squad is not best by a long way and is top heavy on defenders ,and no midfield options .Which is the major factor on Unsworths tactics. He cant change much most of the players are the same type , and the bench is never going to change a game much at the moment.

Also one other factor is there is a shortage of players available which is  probably one reason for a lot of loans . And I also suspect the board wanted to have a recruitment process set up as we have seen this week, before they opt for more permanent transfers. Think we all need to calm down realise where we are , be thankfull we have good people in place doing there best . Show a bit more patience , we will be in a far better position in 12 months time .

I generally agree wholehearted with what you say, until you get to that word " patience ".  The problem is for a lot of us is that we've been patient for almost thirty (30) years !

  7. With regard to the take over, let's be honest at this stage we KNOW not a great deal. We don't know the money men. what we do know is that in the background we appear to have a football family of substance, ie: the Royle family, backing however is putting the money into the takeover to rescue you, me and the rest of the loyal supporters from this utter disaster we are stuck with at present.

Think about that for a moment. I for one am greatly encouraged that Joe and Co are on board. That tells me that in the future this club will be run in a professional and decent manner.

At this moment in time, you have to trust that Joe and Co would not be backing anyone who would not be proposing to do the best for the club. You have to trust/accept that Joe and Co have fully bought into whatever the new potential owners are proposing and that they are convinced about the new owners sincerity / plans to raise us out of the mire.

In simple terms, can any of you see Joe and co selling us down the river, and becoming involved in something worse than what we have at present.

This is Joe ( and Co) put your trust in the man that has always had the club and supporters at heart.
