Cites personal reasons but it will be interesting to see how quickly he finds a new job...
Maybe his personal reason is that he like to be paid - nobody at the club has been paid yet for June.
-
Wages late again this month - players not paid yet.
-
Ex Latics youth Ryan Ellison to Darren Kelly's Hyde United.
It's a different Ryan Ellison, the one who was a Latics youth has signed for Stockport.
-
First goal was laffertys fault. Way out of position.
Lafferty looks a long way off being match fit.

How refreshing it was to watch TPs youngsters go for it last night, full blooded attacking football in atrocious weather conditions, every player knew what his job was, and everyone was comfortable in their positions, the problem is how are they to progress?
Unless something changes they won't. They'd be better advised to drop to non-league and get some game time rather than spend the next year or two suffering like the current crop.
-
Play him left back? Looks a tidy player if a lot greedy.
What about the young left back we already have at the club?
-
Wasn't it mentioned recently that games were to be arranged to assess Fuller and Brandy - if this is the case it's beyond me why they can't be arranged on a regular basis for players we already have on the books. Surely between 2 1st team coaches and Tony P arrangements could be made on a regular basis.
-
Another 19 year old with no senior competitive experience. Is it really worth continuing with a youth policy if we're happy to bring in youngsters from other clubs over homegrown players?
-
I agree that he'd be better with a partner up top, the problem is that stan is on international duty and cassidy, well DK still hasn't given a reason as to why cassidy isn't playing.
Cassidy's fractured his leg and done his ankle ligaments. I think we can cut him some slack there.

It's often a case of sending kids out to play against men rather than boys, a short loan spell is better than no games at all.
But where do you draw the line? Turning out for the Rose and Crown on a Sunday morning is a chance to play against men. Some of the younger players performed really well pre-season, especially Edmondson and Truelove so where do you look to loan them? One of Johnsons many failings was his complete refusal to develop players but I'm not sure sending lads out to Evo Stik clubs is beneficial. Conf North should be the minimum standard.
-
Might be wrong, but weren't Barrow in the Northern Premier League when Chris Taylor was loaned there? Dale Stephens came to the Latics from Bury after a loan spell at Droylsden, also in the NPL..both are with Championship clubs now.
Were they loaned out at a higher level prior to going to Barrow & Droylsden? I must admit I've only seen a bit of Bove pre-season so it's hard to judge as is the case with the 1st years with the exception of Edmundson. He and Truelove had very good pre-seasons - should they be loaned out to teams at Ashtons level to aid their development?
-
Kiss of death for Bove that IMO
On the edge of the first team last season now at Ashton, too much of a drop
If he can get a league 2 club then he wont progress for us. Cant think of any that have gone on loan to that level to make it as a league 1 player for us?
Have to agree with this, he was loaned out to Conf North last season and is now going a level below. 1st year pro's shouldn't even be playing at the Evo-Stik level.

Coleman
Wilson - Wilson - Burn - Mills
Croft - Kelly - Jones - Winchester
Turner - Cassidy

Id be ok with that providing Green is playing ...would need him to thread balls through if not playing down the flanks
I can only see Green being a fringe player this season - looked to me in pre-season as if he needs a lot of coaching and certainly won't fit into a 4-4-2. Will struggle to play wide as we saw against Blackburn and Jones and Kelly have the starting spots for centre mid.
-
Cassidy and Turner will both start tomorrow with Forte on the bench.
-
Tarky's first pro contract was £600 a week, the one he signed before he went to Brentford was for £1000 a week. He now earns more than 4x that amount in the Championship.
That's surprising as 1st year pro's at Oldham are on around £200 per week.

Why put the best finisher at the club at wing back when we have a marauding left back who is the best crosser of the ball at the club (mills) as an alternative?
I know it's not where most people want him to play but if we go 3 at the back and opt for wing backs rather than wingers Id want Forte up top.
When you mentioned a marauding left back who is the best crosser of the ball at the club i was surprised you followed it up with the name Mills.

Turned quicker than that behind me, after 25 minutes Cassidy was"dogsh1t" and Truelove a "coward".Insane to bother to go toChester for the first of the season's friendliest and dish out that offensive bile.
I thought Truelove had a good 45, eager to get on the ball and defended sensibly despite getting no help or cover from the no 11 trialist. All a matter of opinions I suppose but calling someone a coward who wrecked his knee and possibly his career while wearing an Oldham shirt is pushing things a bit. Cassidy would have been better served playing the 2nd half alongside Turner to see how effective he can be - yesterday gave no indication at all.
-
Chambers says other trialist is Sunderland yoof Tom McNamee.
The Sunderland forums make for some uncomfortable reading about this lad - as does his spell at Boston.
-
Sat behind Crofty in the main stand a few weeks ago - didn't realise it was him until the end of the game as he's half the size he was 2 years ago.
-
I would hope that the club would give Bove and Truelove another year - they've been failed by the club this season. Send both straight out on loan at the beginning of the season for 3 to 6 months of competitive football.
-
Burnley's website's main story is them beating a Latics team 3-2 with their Development Squad, and there's pictures too but none of the players I recognise and some look far older than youths. Anybody know who they are?
A team of triallists from other clubs with a couple of youth players thrown in to make up the numbers.
-
He's the polar opposite of Johnson.
Managed a long career at numerous clubs without relying on his dad for appearance money.
Doesn't rely on buzz words when being interviewed.
Gives the young players a chance rather than bullying them.
Doesn't have an ego bigger than the club.
Popular with the players and staff.
I think he's worth a go personally.

I think Sadler was just trying to look busy . Didn't support attacks on the left , poor touch and distribution . Bang average left back . I would much rather have truelove in there .
Woodland didn't make angles to receive the ball and preferred to shy away from it. forgot he was playing at times . Can understand it's tough for a kid to be thrown into a free falling team but I can never understand a footballer shying away from the getting on the ball , especially a midfielder .
Wilkinson looked like a slapped arse when he came off .
This season is soul destroying. Going out of blind loyalty now .
I thought the same with Sadler - expected much more guile and impact from an experienced player. He seems to be going through the motions. I think at this point we go with a couple of our youngsters rather than a constant stream of loans. It might work and suddenly we have another asset or two. Turner always looks lively when he comes on and finished well last night. Woodland looks OK but maybe some of our own young players would do just as well given half a chance.

Is this lad another one of Barry's rehabilitation projects?
