  1. They're almost ready.....

I'm an Irish Oldham supporter.. Followed them for years due to family ties.. I find the comments and pictures on this site and on the Facebook page very worrying.. I hope the supporters aren't going down some NF/anti Irish road, I would hate to stop supporting the club. The Irish peace process has been incredibly successful.. It has included individuals from all sides,, loyalist, republican, British, Irish. Leave the politics there.. Concentrate on the football.

  2. In fairness, I haven't seen the team playing in a while - thought they played brilliantly. A deflection and a dodgy peno was the reason there was no points gained. very impressed at calmness on the ball and playing through the midfield. The goalkeeper actually bowls the ball out to the defenders, unheard of during the last ten years! This manager knows his stuff. It may take a few seasons but we will get out of this god damn division.

  3. roll on exeter, leyton o,brighton,an when we get stuffed off stockport maybe we might be all 1oo%on telling this yorky clown to do one,no goals yet again and cant see many more, accy stanley here we come

I think its very depressing but I think we'll be waving at shez as we go in opposite directions at the end of the season.. Having said that, there's no point in getting rid of penney now. We'd only be repeating that Royle charade at the end of last season. From what I hear at the club, season tickets sales will plummet during the summer, depression central! :disappointed:

  4. All I know is we've played 3 of the best teams in the league in our past 3 games....in which we haven't defended too shambolically and have created some chances. Now if we have improved as a team over the past 5 odd weeks after getting results against Tranmere and Walsall...then it will definitely show in March. March is judgement month.....if we're good enough to stay up, we will and we will by beating the teams around us. I don't look at is as; "We have to win these games to stay up"....I expect us to win these games, I think we were showing improvements, up until and including the Colchester match (although I didn't go, from what I read), but the gulf in quality is going to shine through when you're playing the top teams, always. But now we're playing the no hopers, the cannon fodder of the division so to speak.....as I said, if we are good enough to stay up, we will. There's no excuses, no robberies, no good performances without results....no close encounters and being matched by Wycombe and Exeter. Either we're good enough, or we're not and no one can answer that question until April 3rd, 5pm....but by then it'll be obvious which way we are going, one way or the other.

It all seems so far away since beating notts forest 5-0 and showing no fear of any of the top teams. It might not be popular to say but the club had got backwards significantly since the sacking of shez

  5. Or if the Council hadn't delayed us we could have had a huge wad of cash off a soon to be bankrupted building company, and constructed the new ground at a bargain price as the construction industry is currently willing to work for food.

It's hard to focus on your riveting whilst stopping the bowler hat slipping off your head.

And trying not to get his orange sash oily!

  6. Maybe Andy Goram isn't the best comparison. Try John Sheridan, or even Andy Ritchie. Both gave their all for us as players, but when things weren't working for them as the manager that was all forgotten and they were both roundly slated, both at the games and on message boards etc.

Ritchie's reputation seems to have escaped unblemished as he is still regarded as a hero, but there are a lot of people with short memories and he got some unmerciless stick when he was the manager. Many thought that getting rid of him was the answer to all our problems, only for (some of) them to change their minds years later when we've tried god knows how many managers and we're still in this flamin' division!

I hope in years to come Sheridan is regarded a lot more fondly that he has been in the last few months, but some of the crap that has been spouted about someone who went above and beyond the call of duty has been pretty sickening to say the least.

Make no mistake, if Joe doesn't have us challenging next season (if he's here) and the football's not that good then what he achieved in the past will count for diddly squat, and he'll get it in the neck from all those who were dancing in the street when he got the job three weeks ago.

Football has changed, memories are short and Joe will cop for a load of abuse if it doesn't go swimmingly. In fact, there were plenty who wanted him out towards the end of his last reign.

Bang on. I think Sheridan has been treated quite shabbily by the club and a lot of supporters. A lot of quotes about drinking and discipline are pure speculation. I like big Joe but would Shez have got more than one from twelve in the last month?

  7. Keeper (not seen last 2 games so take your pick)

    RB Eards

    LB Lomax

    CB Greegs

    CB Rueben

    LW Jones

    RW Taylor

    CM Maher

    CM Whittaker

    CF Hughes

    CF Lewi

    Subs

    Keeps

    Stam

    Stephens

    Smalley/The Rat

    Ormerod

My only concern is that the left then consists of Jones and Lomax who are both young and more limited in experience. You can swap Taylor to LW and bring Smalley on on the right if needs be.

    Smalley/The Rat - LOL

  8. I only make one or two games a season, but i thought the standard of football had definitely improved from last year. Even though we lost, the first touch and fitness seemed to be better. Mind you, the last game I was at was the home defeat to Northhampton! (maybe I'm a jinx). I was disappointed with the defence but I think Crossley's backpass clearances were the real killer. Two of them went out for threatening throws which led to at least one of the goals. A new keeper is a must for January. However, I was taken aback by the ugly reaction of some of the fans to Crossley after the third goal, very threatening and abusive. Absolutely no need. Anyway, thats my ten cents! KTF. ( By the way, is the Hereford game on Sky?)

  9. this is John from Dublin, thought I was the only mad fan travelling, do you go to many matches, where are you in Dubs maybe we could meet up? I'm on the Southside

Hi John, I'm based on the northside, in glasnevin. Lonely furrow being a latics fan in Ireland! Shels fan as well. If there's a game on the box during the season, defo hook up. Might see you in edgeley park. Got a tricolour with an oldham badge on it!
