  1. What a signing this lad is turning out to be such a perfect foil for Jack Bryne and under his guidance Fane is improving leaps and bounds.

Has a great engine on him and never seems to give the ball away playing him in a deeper role has proved to be a revelation and for me is the first name on the teamsheet.....

Unless one or more of these foreign players is any good it looks like we have our squad until January.

What would peoples first choice 11's be and what do you reckon the pecking orders are for each position?

    GK

    Ruddy

    Wilson/Placide?

Difficult to say here. Will Wilson stay? If he does he's blown hot & cold so far so would Shez give Placide a go as Number 2, starting tomorrow in Ruddy's absence?

I'm underwhelmed with Ruddy and his one professional appearance ever. Ripley had a decent number of games under his belt before coming here.

Placide is pretty experienced (nearly 200 games club & country) and I wonder if Shez's words were a bit of posturing on his part.

I hope Ruddy's the real deal but I've got a gut feeling Placide might come through as our main keeper.

    RB

    Dummigan

    Wilson

    Mantack

    LB

    Hunt

    Wilson

    Stott

    CB
    Clarke

    Gerrard

    Wilson

    Stott

    Edmundson

As Wilson can cover the whole back 4 I think we might see him used more sparingly with Dummigan a fixture at RB. This worries me on the one hand because he's a bit hit & miss (mainly miss so far  )   but hopefully he can settle down and do well. Wilson will still get a decent number of appearances filling in all over which should keep him happy and he's a good pro anyway in that respect. I don't see Shez using McLaughlin as a RB unless needs must at some point.

I'd still like to see Stott in the side at CB or LB. I think Shez is missing a trick here.

    Wings/Wide Midfield

    McLaughlin

    Obadeyi

    Kyeremeh when fit?

Hunt if we go 3 at the back?

Flynn - who knows where Shez wants to use him this season?

Gardner - on the right if not in a central 2

    Green (FFS)

    Mantack

I'd like to see Tope and McLaughlin as first choice right and left in a 4-4-2. What's actually wrong with Tope? Injured?

Kyeremeh from the bench once he's back. Hopefully Queensy might be in aswell.

I think it'll be more of a diamond though

    Footballing CM

Gardner - I reckon Shez sees him as his main man in midfield

Byrne - Shez might see him as his main man if he wasn't a loan

    Banks

    Flynn?

Fawns - he's done OK but I reckon we'll see a bit less of him now Byrne and Bryan are in. I like him though and reckon he might force his way back in. Should be a regular from bench being able to cover midfield, wings and upfront.

    Defensive midfield

Bryan - looks like he's been brought in to do Fane's job better than Fane. His spell at Bury and our history with City loanees suggests he might not do though. I might be wrong though and he's just here as another body rather than someone Shez is looking to start with. In his interview Bryan said he hadn't spoken to Shez yet.

Fane - I predict he'll spend a month or so on the bench, the rest will do him good and he'll force his way back in for a disappointing Bryan.

Green? I can't weigh up whether Shez will want to start him regularly. Maybe one to be used similar to Wilson as he can cover most of midfield (albeit badly  )

    Upfront

    Doyle

Holloway - if he hasn't dropped him yet he'll surely stick with him to see if it works with Doyle. I think he'll need to start offering more in the next 3 games though otherwise he'll be benched.

Duffus - I only put him ahead of Davies on the assumption his illness means we've not seen anywhere near what he can really do

Davies/Osei? Is Davies truly injured or has he fallen out with Shez already? I've always liked Osei and I'd like to see him given a run. We might see him start alongside Doyle tomorrow maybe.

    Tope

    Fawns

Doyle will undoubtedly be first choice but I think the job of partnering him is very much up for grabs. I predict it'll be him and Duffus most of the time provided Duffus recovers quickly.

Fingers crossed Davies can start producing.

With Gardner & Byrne meaning most of our quality is in CM and the lack of 2 proper quality out & out wingers, and the fact that McLaughlin has the energy to play in a 3 and easily drift wide and back when need be I think we might see 4-3-3 quite a bit.

So I think this will be the starting 11 he has in mind with everyone fit

    Ruddy

    Dummigan

    Clarke

    Gerrard

    Hunt

    Bryan

    Gardner

    Byrne

    McLaughlin

    Doyle

    Holloway

    4-3-3 could be

    Ruddy

    Dummigan

    Clarke

    Gerrard

    Hunt

    Gardner

    Bryan

    Byrne

    Doyle

    Holloway

    McLaughlin/Davies/Duffus/Osei/Tope

    Guaranteed starters

    Ruddy

    Clarke

    Gerrard

    Hunt

    Gardner

    Byrne

    McLaughlin

    Doyle

Not a bad 8 that is it? Plenty of competition for the other 3 places....

Looks good when you look at it like that

    Give the missus one....

Fook me i use to get this excited when i was KID then i discovered boobies, beer and Indie music....

Making a mountain out of a mole hill I reckon folks. Please stop dramatising everything. I predict 3 maybe 4 players brought in on loans or short term deals with a statement from SC that the club has bent over backwards to secure additional resources to help shez.

    No more than that.

    lets see

    Thats wishful thinking.

I woke up to a text off someone connected to the club to expect an eye opening day so much so Sky Sports are rumoured to have sent a camera crew and reporter to Boundary Park today, and when you think just how busy the rest of the football world is going to be on this day i think that speaks volumes...

    Ive got the popcorn ready

  4. Makes you wonder what games some people watch that aside some people have their favourites and regardless of what they do they get 10/10 every week....

Aside from the chances Holloway missed last night he was oblivious when Davies came on and thats worrying because normally in the past 2 big lumps up front seem to work for other teams....

  5. You know me i am not one to gossip but i heard snippets of conversations in the execuitve bar on Saturday and they were talking about new investment and players reluctance to move on from the club due to the promises of big big bonuses should we get out the divison, may be the reason why Ryan Mac is reluctant to leave and i know Flynn has attracted interest from Motherwell but doesnt want to leave......you know the saying there is no smoke without fire.

  6. So we are 2 games into the season 2 defeats, 4 in a row if you count the last 2 home friendlies all at home!!!

Now this super centre half partnership in Clarke and Gerrard is looking dodgy to say the least with next to no pace between them when they come up against pacey strikers they are going to be ripped a new one....Rob Hunt i like him standard 7.5/10 every match but he is wasted at left back and gives the side no balance especially when McLaughlin is played on the left also, new natural left back is needed......Wilson has been steady but Dummigan looked bright last night but he needs to be played at right back for me and in a squad of numerous right backs Brian Wilson isn't the number 1 at the club not in my eyes anyway.

The new keeper i can forgive he has been thrown in and he is doing his best although his distribution could be improved once the true number 1 comes he will be an able deputy.

Now this is where the moaning starts the f***ing midfield....Fane for me can only operate in his best fashion when part of a central 3 as this allows him to make the 20/30 mistakes a game he makes when he does have cover behind and in front of him but pairing him up with the poncy Olly Banks and then last night Paul Green who i just dont see how he gets a game week in week out and we seem to accommodate the team round him, played out wide he offers nothing and in the middle last night he didn't win a challenge, scored by default after a taking a percentages free kick (plus Ripley shatted his pants from Clarke's presence IMO).....Sheridan has gone on about a midfield general yet no signing of that ilk has been made despite media links to 2 players that would be great signings in my eyes. The formation we have played at home 4-4-2 just isn't working as we dont have the players able to make full use and although Gardner has looked bright in pre season ill hold my breath on him being the best thing since sliced bread in a deep lying midfield role....

All pre season it was obvious to those who watched the matches that Holloway and Davies together doesn't work too similar a player yet he started the season with them and it showed Saturday, yes Davies got his first goal last night but it still wasn't from open play, i would be amazed if Holloway scores more than 6/7 goals before christmas because for me you can tell he use to be a centre half by his finishing although was unlucky with his header last night...Duffus i like him could be anything but last night truth be told he shit himself last night up against 2 big lumps in Naylor and McFadzean and i dont think he is the answer as yet and as for Obadeyi he is just a poor mans Jonathan Forte in my eyes....

Changes in formation, personnel and our overall approach to games is a must but has its been mentioned there is potential upheaval in the boardroom and Sheridan's body language just doesn't ring right with how he was last year and for the life of me i dont know why Mason Fawns hasn't been given the chance to show us in competitive games the promise he shown all through pre season....

But something needs to change because when the losing mentality sets in its a hard habit to kick, here's hoping its just a blip, this new winger will be dogs bollards and Holloway will get golden boot come May.....

    Sigh

He's yet played a proper game just a kick about tho ? And Shez didn't sign Schmeltz , I think LJ signings were more risky than Shez and therefore more hit and miss

    Playing the race card

No the comparison is simple Schmeltz signed on the back of some edited You Tube videos, this lad given a trial on the back of videos and small cameo's against non competitive opposition see's him get a 3 year deal...

I hope he turns out better than Sidney.

Took twelve hundred on a shitty February night last time we played there so although three is an ambitious prediction it's not beyond the realms of possibility, August Bank Holiday, hot day and a good start could see us take a huge crowd.

I agree and i know 26 people personally who have booked hotels for that weekend.....

I predict even before a balls kicked were good for 2000 if not more fans.

My opinion, Crusoe, for what it's worth is they:

    Can't tackle

    Can't head

    Slow

Poor success ratio in passing and dead balls

There must £3k a week in wages there that can be freed up towards one, more effective player.

And the rest i was told Flynn's on more than 3k a week alone...
