In terms of potential fan numbers I doubt we could ever compare to either MK or Plymouth. The whole town of Oldham is in the catchment area for Manchester United and Manchester City. Both MK and Plymouth on the otherhand have hardly got any other teams nearby, nevermind arguably the biggest two clubs in the world

Nah, sorry... the plymoth plans especially are based on winning the bid to be a host city... the chances of England winning it are very much in the balance, never mind one of the venues being plymouth.... Bristol are also bidding, and I'd imagine they will only choose one stadium in the south west... If they dont win, the stadium plans wont happen... simple as that. As Jim says, its about catchment area, not stadium ambition. The only reason they will get funding for this is that they are located somewhere where there are no other big stadiums... even if Oldham stay at BP they cant exactly say that....
