What I don't get about you is that you ask advice on a city that you son is studying and the somehow lose all your cred with a feckin stupid post.
He is studying satire!

BP.....why do you actually go to the games? What is it that really winds you up all week that makes you this way? Boss hard on you at work? Mind numbingly boring job? Feel physically inadequate? Why don't you find another sport to follow as the latics clearly don't fulfil your needs!
Memo to BP
Beware pointing out the seemingly obvious..... It isn't to many on here
-
Having seen 2 games at BP this week can I ask a question? Does anybody know when we are going to field that team with pace tempo and passing skills which is full of goals? I have read so much much about it on here and heard LJs pronouncements so I have been a bit surprised to see a pedestrian side uncomfortably exchange a few passes at the back before lumping it Ineffectively forward. I bet the 2 visiting keepers are pleased it has been August...they would have got hyperthermia in December?
Too much hype, hyperbole and bull?

Does anybody know the rules tonight in the event of a 90 minute draw?

Over 4 divisions undoubtedly as O 4U says

Surely the time to judge is 1st of september like o4u states? Johnson knows he has most of his players (maybe rooney and a n other) dickov brought his entire strikeforce in after the season started (baxter and derbyshire) and montano came in very close to the season iirc
It was not me who compared the size of the squads it was LJ. So any criticism of making comparisons at this stage lands at his door
-
Dickov signed Montana, 4 days after this, and Baxter, Wabara, and Derbyshire
Not sure LJ will have the luxury of that many.
Time will tell.
Just to note the 2013 list has Gosset, who is a youth contract.
I don't disagree with any of that nor am I making any judgements about the relative squads, I was just surprised to read something that seemed counter intuitive to me and thought I would ask board colleagues whether they shared that perception
-
This'll be the last update. I reckon everyone can just about manage to keep track of the squad themselves after this.Who's under contract? (13 August)01 Alex Cisak (2013 plus option) – age 2313 Dean Bouzanis (2013) – age 2125 Liam Jacob (2013) – age 1702 Connor Brown (2013 plus option) – age 1903 Jonathan Grounds (2014) – age 2405 Jean-Yves Mvoto (2013) – age 2306 James Tarkowski (2013) – age 1916 Cliff Byrne (2013 per the Scunthorpe Telegraph) – age 3026 Carl Winchester (2013) – age 1927 Glenn Belezika (2013 plus option) – age 1804 James Wesolowski (2014) – age 2407 Lee Croft (on loan for the season) – age 2708 Dean Furman (2013) – age 2421 Kirk Millar (2013) – age 2022 Youssouf Mchangama (2013) – age 2124 Connor Hughes (2013) – age 1929 David Mellor (2013) – age 1909 Jordan Slew (on loan for six months) – age 1910 Robbie Simpson (2013) – age 2714 Matt Smith (2013) – age 2319 Dan Taylor (2013 plus option) – age 19
This post from 12 August 2012 would seem to put to bed any uncertainty re whether L j or Dickov had the bigger squad.
.Ie despite his press assertions to the contrary LJ is spinning us a yarn saying he has a smaller squad
-
2 Connor Brown
7 Lee Croft (on loan from Derby County)
8 Dean Furman (captain)
14 Matt Smith
19 Dan Taylor
21 Kirk Millar
25 Liam Jacob
28 Paul Gerrard (player-coach)
29 David Mellor
33 Luke Simpson
Because OAFC 100 while there is a Number 33 there aren't all the numbers in between!!
-
No, it shows how slow Dickov was in getting his squad together. And possibly why he got every Tom, Dick and Harry youngster later on.
So it stands to reason he has learned from his mistakes,..er hang on.
Absolutely but it also shows that L J 's statement in the MEN is factually incorrect and misleading
-
I'll bet Dickov didn't include most of the kids when he discussed his "squad" with SC
Which makes LJ ' s assertion that he has a smaller squad even more incongruous
-

That seems to indicate then that LJ has a squad which about 20% bigger than the one available to Dickov at the same time last year

The 25th player is Rooney at number 9, assuming he signs.
Anybody able to give the equivalent list for 25 July last year
-
Wouldn't size of squads on day one of season be a better comparison as opposed to number of players brought in during the season?
Yes which means to my reckoning using only full season loans he has a bigger squad?
In Dayton Rooney Latvian MacDonald Schmeltz Rodgers Oxley Harris Clarke K smith (9)
Out Bouzanis Cisak Mvoto Simpson Croft Furman M Smith (7) Taylor ( arguably) (8)
-
In the Manchester Evening News LJ says that he has a smaller squad ( ie fewer players) than Dickov's last year. Has he?
-
Things have become clearer now? In essence the major changes from the team LJ was picking at the end of last season and the one he appears to favouring are
Oxley for Bouzanis
Byrne / Mellor for M'voto
Schmeltz for Croft
Rooney For Smith
Is this stronger or weaker?
Do the options of JCH Mac Donald Dayton Rodgers on the bench for midfield and attack compensate for nil cover at keeper or back four?
-
That ball from Warne is my first ashes memory. I was 9.
First cricket memory is going to see Carl Hooper smash 188 in the wood cup final for Middleton vs Heywood (or heywood vs middleton)
It was at Middleton for Werneth against Heywood.....I was playing. It wasn't as high as 188

Tool.

pseudonym any reason you are downboating peoples posts??
It depends whether you mean peoples' or people's. if it is the former it is based on a subjective evaluation of the content. If it is the latter it is done automatically to save time reading what will inevitably be cliched , banal or offensive. Often all 3

Multi-Tasking Doc, oh the irony given that I am grading SPAG elements on the current paper I'm marking & this keyboard's :censored:e, I much prefer my MacBook but the marking software only works with Gates' Cartel.....
I always found there was a direct correlation between students who got highest marks are those who got highest SPAG grades and just seemed another tier of bureaucracy serving no no more purpose than the always ignored " careless and untidy work will be penalised"

your getting a bit boring now.
