Probably his way of satisfying the fans appetite - at least he knows what he wants.
Relieved our manager knows we need a keeper and a centre half.
-
You do know that it's June don't you?
Indeed and training starts on Thursday . Who will be taking it, the coach, or the fitness coach? Shooting practice should be easier this year for the forwards too and attack versus defence will be 2 on 2
-
LJ deserves at least two full seasons.
On paper he's taken a squad that underwhelmed last season and so far injected it with pace and attack mentality.
Absolutely, not bothering with any keepers or centre halves is about as attacking as you can get
-
Should have entered the squad in the Oldham 10K yesterday. Good for ealy doors training and good for PR around the town. Maybe next year Latics?
Despite every amateur team doing it, road running is about the worst possible training exercise a footballer can do.....ask Butler

treadwell turned a ball at right angles in the first innings so why where the "experts" so shocked that it spun in our innings
PS we lost by 5 runs.... We gave away 5 overthrows Baic stuff

Tier can used to describe a row or a level of seating, more commonly the latter. Buy a ticket for a multi level stand, you are much more likely to see 'a format of 'upper tier, row zz'' for example.
Would not disagree but tiered seating means row by ascending row? A bad call by O4U though. He should wait for the bad ball rather than force it. I bowl plenty of them!
-
I'd love to see the NIMBY comments to a 14 tier stand planning application!
Good try. Rows and tiers are synonymous until you introduce the concept of increasing height and so to describe a stand as having 14 tiers of seats is correct. ...so take your own advice
-
The amount of times I've stood with my back against that wall when it's been pissing down
At least the driving rain from the prevailng direction into the 14 tier new stand won't wet you....posters on this board have assured us!

I'd of just told the person who started the thread to :censored: off if I were you mate.
It never crossed my mind:)

At last some thoughtful and realistic reflection. It seems my work is complete .
For the record I think he will a bring a togetherness and spirit to the club which will compensate for other deficiencies and I am hopeful of getting 60 points

Was this the game that was to be televised live to pay for the tour of catterick
-
Fish for tea tonight then.
... And dining sumptuously too!

Does anybody know anything about the football managerial "pro licence" as it seems the much trumpeted multi qualifications held by the man in whom we trust do not include this one? ...and with 42 days to go to the start of the seaon for which we have no goalkeepers few defenders and fewer strikers, not to mention assistant managers or fitness and goalkeeping coaches, have we been mis sold the trip to turkey?
What clothes is this Emperor wearing?
-
Agreed 100%. Keepers are not up to scratch finger has to be pointed at PG
Something of a self defeating argument here? You attest that keepers don't need coaches because they make no difference yet you want to blame them the goalkeeper coach for affecting performace

Just for the record Curzon Ashton reached the 2nd Proper of FACup 4 years ago beating Exeter City. The year before their Youth team reached the second round proper of the FA youth beating Chesterfield before losing 3 -2 to Macclesfield.....the scorer of their 2 goals one Will Buckley....playing for Curzon having been rejected by Latics at 15 years old and sold to Brighton for £1 million
Not a pub team and very nice stadium too

You're really not a fan of LJ are you? Has he kicked your cat or similar????????
Agnostic about LJ and will make an assessment after 10 games and he may be the new Mourinho. However the hype and expectation and imminent canonisation of L J on this board as of 11June contrasts starkly with us having no goalkeepers, no centre halves signed and no strikers? He made a big play of fitness levels and affirmed that this seaon's per season will solve that.....then he says he will bring in 4 more by mid July, ie 2 weeks before first game. Now I am no Butler like fitness guru but the 2 statements appear to contradict
-
I suppose it will be considered churlish that I remind board members of the last player LJ brought from overseas....Bessone.

It seems strange that over 50% of our gold medal winners were graduates while only 2 % of footballers are. It could be argued that English football with its recruitment strategy de facto excludes 20% of the nation which other sports and counties don't? When did we last win theWorld Cup?

Can anybody add to this pub generated list of "clever" latics players
Smith. University of Manchester graduate
Simpson. University of Loughborough
jobson. Did one year Civil Engineering at University of Nottingham
adyemi Offered place at Cambridge university
........ And yes we went through the University of Life and Hard Knocks bits too
The discussion was in the context of the old chestnut of why the typical European international centre half speaks better English than the typical English centre half. Eg Kompany v Terry

I think it's Mr pseudonym (small 'p') having a bit of a poke at those who have criticised his views and grammatical errors. Apparently, he's a grown up adult, too.
*Sits back and awaits further downboat
Flattered that you thought of me.. But not guilty on this occasion

See os. I hope the manager knows

Jimmy Frizzell made a good decision when he told Ronnie Blair and the rest of the team to not make any tackles when we lost 3-0 at Southend but guaranteed wining the Ford Sporting League and getting the Lookers stand for free.....and of course they have now knocked the bloody thing down
-
Are we having one? Weren't we told we would have one by 1st June?

BBC is reporting that Matt Smith's departure is going to be spectacular but is being kept tightly under wraps
