  1. The lookers used to have a bar downstairs and the junior Latics lounge next door with pool table etc in it. My dad went for a pint, I went and met my like minded friends and had fun.

Why not when the new stand eventually opens have the same sort of thing. A big area where the younger ones can go and play pool, table football, play station, arcade games etc.

Put a tuck shop in the corner so they can buy their own sweets and drinks.

make it fun so they will tell their friends who then may want to tag along at the next home game.

Don't make it all about chaddys gang/boundary blues. Some kids may think they're too cool for that kind of thing. And don't make it all about the football. If that is the only thing the parents are dragging them along to, it won't work. Make it an afternoon for something for them to do rather than just 90 mins sitting outside in the cold.

I don't know how good the chaddys gang/boundary blues set up is now but I remember when I was younger I counted down the days to go to junior Latics meetings/Xmas party's with the hope of being picked to be a mascot and I remember they were always sold out. You could meet all the players, there were always activities where some players showed what they did in training, question and answer sessions programme stalls. We used to go and play against other teams (I went to city, Blackburn and Leeds) where we played their junior clubs, again I don't know if this still happens but I still talk about this 25/30 yrs later to my little girl hoping she will feel the excitement that I did about going to Latics!

Plant the seeds now and they will eventually bloom.

There is a matchday club for 6-12 year olds that is only £5 including a match ticket. My little lad went for first time this week and loved it. Perhaps the club should be advertising this more.
