Nah we're no where near Leeds, Bradford, Barnsley, Sheff wed, Sheff Utd and all the Manchester clubs are we? There are a LOT of people in Huddersfield who support Man Utd/Chelsea etc...
Do you really want to compare the distances between you and these clubs and then Oldham and our closest clubs?
Think you know really that United and City are a much bigger problem for us than they are for you. Leeds dont really pose the same kind of competition as they aint on TV all the time and as for the sheffield clubs we might aswell start talking about the two liverpool clubs
-
Because I was clearly talking about on the field matters....? *facepalm*
I pay to watch the football, doesn't matter what is around me. So on that basis £23 for league 1 football is a rip off.
-
And why do you lot think £23 is ridiculous? £20 at most stadiums in this league, including your place I think?
Another £3 for a far higher standard day out (I enjoyed the League Above thread ) is hardly unreasonable.
Glad to see your higher standard club have taken a full 1 point off us this season

It seems the Huddersfield fans have a low opinion of the ref (hardly surprising), Latics and in particular Taylor. I guess they mustn't have fouled anyone or kicked the ball in the air at all then? Not what I saw...
"....almost impossible to play football against 11 cheating scumbags who insist on punting the ball in the air for 90 minutes and hack us to the floor whenever we actually get going. I'm just extremely glad I don't support Oldham.
I am however glad that Chris Taylor got smashed in the second half. His antics today were a disgrace and I'd take no displeasure in seeing him injured for a while."

I do get what your saying I just dont think whatever we did we would have the reason to have a ground like Huddersfield and the attendances to match. The only way we will see a significant increase in attendance is via promotion. Huddersfield has a larger fan base than us and an awful lot less competition
-
But we have a limit to how many fans we attract. Whatever we do there just isn't the interest in Latics. Do you not see that?
-
It all costs money though, and we don't have the crowds to support that
-
He does have a point! Why start slaggin off the club when we have just taken an away point off a club with a wage budget that is miles bigger than our own!
-
On the pitch they aren't. Off the pitch they are and while it's the results that matter, off the field activity helps a great deal in getting those results.
Yeh but we could do whatever we want but we wouldn't pull in attendances like that in league 1. They don't have the likes of United and City on their doorsteps.
I agree they are well run, but think that goes beyond the club, their council support them, they have a super league rugby team that also helps. I dont care how well run we were I dont believe we'd match em
-
To be honest I go to watch latics for the football as opposed to anything else. Yes they have bigger stadium, bigger attendances, better PA but they also have a bigger wage budget yet twice we have shown this season they are not better than us and certainly aint a league above us!

I could fill the entire internet with the bleak ramblings of Molly Menopause, who i was lucky enough to be sat next to all afternoon (i think the highlight was probably at the end, when we were singing "there's only one Paul Dickov", to which she responded "you won't be saying that when Huddersfield nick the three points" - if she's this miserable now how did she make it through last season without killing herself?). But special mention has to go to Huddersfield's 'firm'. You know the type. 14 year olds, bad skin, look a little bit anaemic.
"Are we 'avin it?"
"Dunno. It's up to you. I'm up for it."
"Come on then, let's 'ave it. Dirty Lancashire bastards."
At which point one of them - the fattest one, obviously - walked into me and mumbled "oh, sorry."
Proper nawtee.
There was one in a cream jacket who must've been 12 tops. Scary as!

No one was talkin about people on Job seekers. Or are you suggestin the average Oldhamer is on Jobseekers?
-
because some people are too poor to fund the club ?
My only issue with you is when you started down the daily mail route of sticking it to people on benefits. It just sucks...
I honestly don't believe that the average Oldhamer is that poor.
-
It's two quid!
-
I am patronising ? ffs... Try reading what the idiot wrote...
I did read it. But you aswell as others go on bout his age and responsibilities. You seem to think your more important beacause your older and have a nipper. Fair enough you have different priorities, but lets be honest your only connection to Oldham Athletic in the last 2-3 years is this message board.
Now you can give me as many reasons as you want, but at the end of the day it is because of people lik you that our club is struggling so much. Don't have a pop at him just because he ensures he has enough money to go to Latics every week.
-
because i was hoping that someone would reply to me point i was trying to make before.
Fair enough, just think certain people, I.e OAFC0000 ae patronising tossers
-
Why would 5000 extra people at boundary park really affect sky's viewing figures?
-
thats rent alone.
Why even answer their questions? Tell em to off! Your money is your issue nobody elses
-
Their doesn't have to be a reason so to speak only as much as its where you come and its part of your identity. Certainly knowone should ever feel ashamed of where they come from wherever that maybe.
I see your point. And I suppose that is the only reason I am proud, but that just shows I would've been proud of wherever I was from whether that be any :censored:hole in the world.
Looking at things logically there is quite a lot to actually be ashamed of.
-
Yes thought it was very funny. He obviously got some :censored: from some fans without a sense of humour but it was good to see him give the chaddy a genuine round of applause at full time.
-
A very interesting read this thread. I always think of myself of being proud of being from Oldham but when you think about it logically I don't see what there is to be proud of.
This town has become an absolute :censored:hole really and is only going one way. It will take a lot more than metrolink to change that
-
I agree, there are other points that cost us the goal, but that ballboy did give the ball to him far too quickly. If you have seen the replay it is clear as day!
-
He does have a very good point!
-
I thought Ried fouled him first to get infront of him.
Huddersfield are in a League Above Oldham
