  1. Whilst I will agree with not being happy with the league position my club is in at the moment, do you really think abusing Simon Corney will help! Whether you like it or not the guy puts his hand in his pocket every month and subsidises the club. Do you really want to piss him off enough so he may possibly walk away or stop putting money in every month? Where would we be then? - skint and in administration! Yes he does make mistakes but until someone else wants to subsidise our club, we need him.

  2. I've been going to Latics for over 50 years and I have two sons who joined me as soon as they were old enough and are still coming with me (just about) and are now in their 30s.It's hard for them to have the same passion as me because football has changed so much since the premier league was formed and because of the Bosman rule. Clubs can no longer build a team as players move on within 2 to 3 years. It took Joe Royle the best part of 8 years to build his best squad but you saw this team slowly being assembled over the years. The premier league now just soak up young players who never filter down the leagues and if lower clubs find anyone good they disappear to the premier or championship clubs - usually never to be seen again in the majority of cases. All we get left with are a small squad of players and the rest on loan and so we will never see a team being built again. The premier league has taken the soul away from the lower clubs and we're never going to get it back.

  3. Now my initial anger has subsided I'm beginning to think this isn't as bad as I thought. Most of the players who are out injured are out for 4 to 6 weeks. This would give any new manager probably only 4 games at the end of the season with a potential full squad. So if we appoint someone new at this stage, what's he got to work with? If we are writing off the season it's because of the injuries not because we don't want to appoint anyone immediately.

  4. Some people on this site need to get a grip. The media are blowing this thing totally out of proportion. We are not signing a serial rapist who's dragging women off the street and taking them up an alley (no pun intended), this is something that was a result of a drunken night gone wrong. There will be people reading this who, if they are being honest, could have put themselves in the same position Evans did and would themselves have been convicted under the current legislation. I'm not agreeing with what he did but he's paid the price for it. I personally would not have signed him purely for the :censored: it would bring with him but I'm starting to admire Corney for having the bottle to do it. Before some of you pass comments on the situation read up properly on the case and on the judge's comments and some of you will actually think you might have been in a similar situation with a woman and in trouble under today's laws.

  5. Well said Latics & England. Both central defenders have made mistakes but non of the mistakes have cost us a goal. Mellor made quite a few judgement errors last night but his head never went down and he always wanted the ball. They are a work in progress and I hope it works and the idiots keep off their backs.
