  1. Not wanting to be a party pooper, but we are all getting very excited on here, just like last year after we beat Northampton 5-1 - and we know what happened next.

Lets put it in context. Bury are the first team we have played above us in the table that we have beaten.

Yes, the last few performances have been a huge upgrade on what we have seen before, and this, plus the Lincoln game with 10 men gives alot of reason to be optimistic - but I still think it should be a very cautious optimism...

  2. Well, that's the last time I'm being conned into buying a Season Ticket - the mismanagement of this club is beyond belief - how Corney managed to accrue his cash continues to amaze me.

We're NEVER going to amount to anything. A slightest sniff of success and we sell at the lowest price. LJ and now JS. The rumoured 150K compo will cover the ST offer - coincidence ?

So, although I have a season ticket, unless something dramatic happens, it will be my last.

This next season could make last season look spectacularly successful :(

  3. any credibility the club had left (and let's face it, there isn't much) has now gone. Giving the job to a guy with no experience, no great career and no status has made us a laughing stock. We will get out of this division sooner than we expected, but not in the way we want.

I'll still turn up, but more out of duty than want. I was worried when we appointed LJ, and yes, he did ok, but can we see this guy coming close ?

  4. But I don't understand - only days ago, Dean Holden said that if he (Lockwood) played a full game against Preston, it could kill his career. 3 days later and a full 90 minutes later, he's the man responsible for great clean sheet - who or what do we believe ?

  5. We HAVE TO REMEMBER that we are only at league one level. At this level, Tarky is excellent - a little inconsistent at time - as all our players are likely to be - but has the potential to get better and better. He's already grown immeasurably as a player in the last six months - his performances have shown a class and maturity rarely seen at this level - so give the lad a break and forgive him the occasional sin and mistake - if he was the finished article, he wouldn't be playing for us!

Some of the people on here REALLY wind me up sometimes. We should support our better players, not continuously pick holes in them.......

  6. I don't want to put a downer on anything, particularly as the season hasn't started yet but...

How can an on-loan third choice keeper at a premier league relegation certainty be better than Bouzanis or Cisek.... all smacks of penny pinching to me.

Add to the equation that if he does well for six months, they'll escalate him up to a championship club and leave us short handed, I'm at a loss at what REAL benefit this offers us....

  7. I've been following Latics for 35 years, during which I can recount 5 seasons in which we had any success. But I've had the occasional wonderful moment inbetween when my bunch of n'er do wells, rejects, journeymen and such have put in a backs to the wall, David v Goliath performance - indeed we have had a couple of these moments this year alone.... And its THESE moments that have made me keep coming back. I was HOPING that these games would give us a small turning point. Assure our safety first, then spend some of this BONUS cash on building a team around the likes of Baxter, Bouzanis, Grounds and Wes. Now all I feel is disillusion and massive disappointment. We are a laughing stock now - we have lost all credibility - and so, my question - WOULD CORNEY HAVE BEEN BETTER OFF JUST LETTING US DIE 10 YEARS AGO with dignity in tact, rather than just let us whither away like an old man slowly losing his mind ?

  8. he had a duty as a captain to help us.

I actually agree with that... but as I said, there is no loyalty in this game any more. And your post is the first post that's offended me on here - Furman was a good servant of the club for the most part - your response to him leaving was childish in the extreme. Losing the foul language on a PUBLIC forum is always a good idea - these things have a habit of following you.
  9. Is 19 your IQ or your age?

    F*ck off Dean.

    Absolutey disgusted with this.

Paid his wages for four years, we're deep in a relegation battle and he swans off to Doncaster.

Takes your twitter mates Bouzanis, Wes and the rest with you.

    We're better off without you.

    Pathetic.

"WHAT THE F*CK IS GOING ON"

He could only leave if the club let him, and we DID!
  10. do you think, the man who was 'so proud' to be appointed captain at the beggining of season has now jumped ship. This is after we have paid his wages whilst he has missed around 20% of the season swanning around for south africa and then when he has played has been pretty much garbage. This is the time he should be leading by example, he should be grabbing the team by the scruff of the neck and dragging them over the finish line to safety. He can have his move in the summer but to leave now when the team is in such :censored: is in my opinion taking the piss. Not a true captain.

Yes he has jumped ship, but can you REALLY blame him ? We're a club with little ambition, currently being rundown into what is frankly becoming embarrassing. You can't blame Furman for wanting to represent his country in a major international tournament, and nor can you blame him for wanting to better himself. Your diatribe of abuse frankly offended me. I think Furman has been shackled by the tactics of his manager in many of the games he has played, and he certainly hasn't earned your comments. ....and you can't blame the guy for wanting to increase his wages either - you would, I would, wouldn't anyone . You can't expect loyalty in football anymore. It's a short career - decisions like Baxter's are few and far between - at least we have some money for a player that, recently, hasn't even been a regular starter. Maybe you could try to be a little more constructive in your criticism - put a little thought and intelligence into your posts rather than resorting to the language of a yob!
