  1. That is a bit of a myth. We took 2,800 on two occasions. One was the last away game of the season when we were securing a play off position in our centenary season and the year after when we were in 3rd and Bury were 4th near the end of the season as well. We took 2,000 when we were top of the league on a Monday night live on Sky as well. Apart from that we usually take 1,200ish.

Also it seems £23 is beyond the cut off point for many and the fact we have played Bury a lot more often in recent years means there is a bit more about it.

  2. As a Dale fan I had been waiting for this fixture to happen for a long time and it was the first fixture I looked for after our promotion. But I have to say it has been a bit disappointing so far to be honest. I think it's down to a mixture of the fixture not happening for such a long time, all ticket games ruining any chance of our floating fans turning up and nothing really of note has happened so far. Us winning at your place last season will have annoyed you a bit but most of our fans still see the Bury games as more of a rivalry, but that only really took off in the past couple of years thanks to a few tasty fixtures towards the end of the season when we were both doing well. There needs to be a real controversial incident that really gets everyone annoyed to spice things up a bit.

I for one hope we both stick around the same division for a bit because as our nearest rivals it should be a cracking derby match.

  3. By the way, for the night match that was abandoned they had nowhere near the numbers they had in the home ends on Saturday, how did they wangle that one? I thought no extra tickets were available? I reckon there looked to be 500-700 more in the stands than the Tuesday night game- especially the WMG (?) and the main stand had a few more in it too.

Funnily enough a few Dale fans including myself thought that there seemed miles less home fans there than the original tie!

  4. but we've always been renowned for travelling in (relative) numbers, they've always been renowned for not doing

I think that's slightly unfair, we always have pretty much the highest ratio of away support as a percentage of our home support and we took 2,800 to Bury 2 years running and then 2,000 last year on a Monday night which was also live on Sky.

I think we will bring between 2,000-2,500 which considering our home support is good.

  5. A good outcome but the way it has been handled was pretty embarrassing for all concerned...

This will be my last post on the subject but I fail to see how it's embarrassing. Let's go through events. Game abandoned Tuesday night. Wednesday: Discussions between both clubs over ticketing arrangements and statement announced for Thursday. Meanwhile Oldham fans talk of conspiracy, how Rochdale are trying to rip everyone off and sending emails complaining to the football league. Thursday: Statement released announcing tickets to be exchanged for free.

  6. IF that is on the back of the ticket I think it just highlights what a :censored:ty little club you support  and in no sense of the word can that be deemed "public"... You have to buy a ticket to see it

Your clubs policy is that everybody would have been admitted for half price, not exactly fair that is it? 8 minutes football for half price.

In all seriousness I could understand the frustration if we had decided to charge for the rematch but we haven't. How would you have felt had we a public policy saying that you would have had to pay half price for the return game and then after discussions that took say 2 days we changed our minds to offer it for free? Imagine the 2 days of furore saying what a scandalous policy it was!

  7. If I would of gone I would of been pretty annoyed right now not knowing what the policy is... Rochdale have taken the piss and continue to take the piss, breaking the leagues rules along the way...

    :petesake:

The policy was on the back of the ticket. "The price of the ticket will not be returned to the holder in any circumstances if the match is abandoned".

So we have actually changed our policy to allow everybody back in free and you are still moaning. Get a life.

  8. Do people get a free programme and pie replacing the ones bought on the night, that would have gone to waste (and cost Dale money) if the game was called off earlier in the day ?

    :petesake:

The programmes wouldn't have gone to waste because they will be used for the re-arranged fixture anyway.

As for the pies, just don't be silly. If you think the referee started that game so a few pies could be sold then you have some strange ideas.

  9. Knowing how amateurish Rochdale have been over the years with calling games off due to their :censored:ty pitch (and given the amount of money they have made over the last four or five years it really is a pisstake that they have done little to remedy it) i'm sure they will try to cash in. If they do, they can stick it!

Again this is absolute rubbish. As I posted on another thread we have only had 3 (Now 4) games called off due to waterlogging in the past 5 years. In that time we have also spent well over £100,000 on a new drainage system, sprinkler system and the pitch has been laser levelled. That pitch is now easily the best we have ever had and is like a bowling green. Unfortunately there was just simply too much water on it last night.
