  1. Although it should be mentioned that most Dunfermline fans are glad to see the back of him. He had a shocking second half to the season apparently.

Still, I've seen enough of Greg with my own eyes to know he's a decent keeper, young and rough around the edges but could still go on to be a good keeper for us.

  2. as he has previously come across as a bit of a prat - the whole sky thing

Don't blame him for the Sky thing, they're a bunch of thieving knobs. They rip their customers off and it's good to see Gannon sticking to his principles, Sky wouldn't help him when he needed his digibox fixing, so he won't help them and their coverage by speaking to them. Nowt wrong with it.

  3. Penney brought him him in because of injuries, he had tried everything else and his hand had been forced

    Dale took his chance

Or Penney could have just done what Sheridan seemed to do profusely and bring someone in on loan. To say he played Stepehsn simply because he had no other alternative is unfair. Stephens was a reserve player who Penney gave a chance to rather than use the loan market, which as sure as they day is long Sheridan would have done.

Bloody hell, it's amazing the lengths some "fans" will go to not to give an ounce of credit to manager just because they didn't like them.

  4. Yep, hes ok if he can push on this year.

He was bought for the future but the crap Penney brought in saw him in the team sooner than expected.

Only young, good passer , ok on deadball and eye for a goal...

Penney gave Stephens' his breakthrough, when the manager who signed Stephens wouldn't. Penney has to be commended for that, not criticised

  5. Oldham managing director Simon Corney has issued the following statement on Monday afternoon:-

"I am delighted to announce Martin Gray as the new manager of Oldham Athletic.

Promoting an assistant manager to the lead role is often seen as a cheap or safe option, but I can assure all Oldham fans that I have selected Martin because I truly believe he is the best candidate for the job.

I have also been impressed with Martin's hunger to manage. I have always sought ambitious managers and there is little doubt that he is as enthusiastic and ambitious as ever.

Martin will be assisted by Lee Duxbury, who needs no introduction to Latics fans. Lee has been an extremely loyal servant for our club but it is Lee's talent as a coach that has earned him this appointment which I know he will relish.

Martin's and Lee's existing knowledge of the current players will allow them to hit the ground running, but they have already made me aware that they will be implementing their own philosophies and ideas and adding to a squad that only just survived relegation last season."

  6. I want someone who is totally committed to being manager of oldham athletic

Which, by all accounts I'm sure he will be if he chooses to sign the contract. Until then he is not obliged to make us any sort of a priority. He's entitled to weigh up his options, just like any other person in any walk of life would do when making a decision regarding their career and future. It's nothing personal that he hasn't jumped at the chance to sign a deal with us, he's looking out for himself and his family.

Gannon doesn't have to show any sort of commitment to us, he owes us nothing. If he chooses, after deliberating with his family etc, that he will take up our offer and become our manager, that is when we should expect 100% commitment with this Stockport business put behind him.

If the rumours are true that we have offered him a deal and a deadline then that sounds fair for both parties. We've given him time to consider the offer but also asserted the fact that we won't be strung along and that he will have to make a decision soon.

That's if the rumours are true, which I hope they are.

  7. Can't see why so many people take Walcott over SWP. Walcott is something of a disappointment, very naive and lightweight, no conviction. Where as SWP always looks a threat and generally plays well for England every time he appears, even if he's a sub he usually has some influence on the game.
