  1. Whatever.

Are you honestly saying that Port Vale's plight is Robbie Williams's fault, just because he's a rich fan who's opted not to invest (more than he has already)?

It might be that simple in your world, but the real world is a bit more complicated.

Funnily enough, the current board and (grown up) fans bear no grudges to Robbie Williams ... just maybe they appreciate what he has done for them.

can you tell me were i said port vale are in this plight cos of robbie williams???

I was simply pointing out a FACT that a few years ago when port vale were in a similair postition they approached him to pay a months wages and he turned around and said NO but a few months before that he was telling everyone hes port vales biggest fan!!

    Do you understand now??????

And funnily enough the board and fans dont hold a gridge NOW because he had a change of heart and invested, but id be interested if they had a grudge THEN!!

And please dont try and patronise me by saying 'it might be simple in your world, but the real world is a bit more complicated', who do you think i am a spotty school kid?? who the :censored: are you garcon??

I think you are the only one who needs to take there head out of there arse!!

This site gets better and better far to many know it all, im never wrong, patronising people :mad:

  2. To be fair to Robbie Williams, he has put a not inconsiderable amount of money into the club in the past. But he's not interested in getting more closely involved or buying a stake. Sensible lad.

He did eventually yeh, but i remember just after he signed his £80m record deal port vale were on the brink of admin again and needed to pay the players wages for a month they needed either £150k or £250k - they asked williams and he said NO, and i remember only a couple of months prior to this he was walking around with a port vale shirt on telling anyone who would listen that he is the biggest port vale fan alive mmmmmm

  3. he may or may not have been involved he may or may not have been splitting a fight up.

we shall have to wait and see

but he is responsible for team discipline on and off the field

i would imagine his job was or is hanging by a thread due to poor performances on the field and his seeming inability to get a good group of players playing as a team.

if the club find that he couldnt control his players on official club outing then he is in breech of his contract,if the club then turn round and say sorry, but you have to go,and they pay his contract up,its nothing to do with the lma

he is gone in the summer anyways i would imagine...so would it be better to get rid now and give someone a chance to rescue the season over the next ten games???

He might be the manager but he cant sit in a corner with a cane in his hand and anyone who steps out of line he bends them over his knee!! i dont buy into were HE is responcable for OTHER peoples behaviour. There is some very experienced players in our squad who have been in the game a long time and are old enough to know better! But i suppose if corney is after an excuse for getting rid then this is it. IMO he wont be going anywere till the summer

  4. Maybe the manager had faith in his squad not to go out and get pissed and behave like the role models they are expected to be? Cannot believe the manager is gettin the majority of stick for this!! seems people are using this to fuel their own desires of wishing to see him go!

Well said! going off what people witnessed shez was trying to sort things out, i would be suprised if shez was actually happy about having this meet the fans thing and i think he had trust in his players to behave properly, which they didnt and have let him down badly. The players are to blame for this just as they are on the pitch aswell

  5. heads are going to roll

if the club has lost patience with the manager and our inept performances, then this is exactly what they have been waiting for and can get rid citing various reasons ultimately concluding that the manager is in breech of his contract and obligations, which are far more than training and managing the team.

in breach if his contract and obligations in what way? witnesses on here have said he was splitting a fight up!! or is he in breach of his contract for footballing reasons? i want shez out but sacking a manager when we are 5th the LMA will have a field day! and make us look even more stupid than we already do!

  6. I'll go with that too.

So sack Gregan and Taylor? Sod the £1M we'll lose? As if.

NB. Who organised and set the parameters (i.e go along and have a drink with the fans) for this whole thing anyway? Complete lunacy from the very first.

IMO nobody will be getting sacked for this - handbags thats it (according to people who whitnessed it)

And a meet the fans night i cant see the problem with that, what was wrong with drinking soft drinks? Why do pro sportsmen need to get bladdered? but i guess i could be 'the drinking culture' within the club

  7. People seem to be treating the newspaper reports as gospel truth. Frankly I can't believe anyone would be that naive.

Yes, SOMETHING happened, but until the club announces its actions I'm afraid we won't know WHAT happened - and even then we'll have to guess based on the punishments. (And that's the way it should be).

Rather than believe the press i will go off what people have posted on here (who were actually there), gregan and taylor had a set to, shez and hughes got involved to break it up

  8. We all have something in common on this board so lets not loose sight of that,

we all want Oldham Athletic to do well and live up to our expectations, Some of us expect more than others.

We all do and act in our own ways and offer support using different methods.

One thing is blatantly obvious though, nobody is going to achieve anything by discussing or in some cases criticising the way in which any of us follow or ‘support’ the lads/club.

This is the place to discuss it but as soon as I see the words ‘happy clappers’ I know the content thereafter will 9/10 be a rant.

Anyway I wouldn’t class myself as a ‘Happy clapper’ just passionate, its something that’s bred into you, the chances are you will support the lads in the same way your farther did or whoever took you to your first game.

Having said that my dad has Ernie Cooksey’s portrait tattooed on his back and the words “Our Ernie”

I am too much of a girl to go that far

Well please dont take this the wrong way im sure your dad is a nice man but having a tattoo on his back of ernie cooksey is going a bit to far dont you think? Joe Royle or Jimmy Frizzell maybe but really ernie cooksey? Fair enough he died young but was by no means a legend at this club!! RIP Ernie. we are all latics fans, but the way it is for me i live and breath latics, latics is on my mind 24 hours a day call me sad or whatever but in my eyes there is NOTHING more important in this world, which is why the useless t*ats who were my teams colours should be on the town hall steps explaining why they have let the whole town down again

  9. No its not for some of us Mark but thanks for telling us your feelings. For some of us its an addiction, a life, its what decides whether we will work on a saturday or not. It controlls your relationship. You book holidays around it. You book your life around it and then some. I have never happy clapped because I will be there long after them lazy incompetent b******s today. And some dafter ones of us even wear the tattoo of the club badge on our upper arm because we sleep, eat, breathe the club and I have always lived at least 10 miles from the town so please dont do me down for thinking that today was not good enough. We need new life. We need a new manager.

Totally agree my whole thinking is Oldham Athletic day in day out call me sad i dont give a s*it, and it hurts me deeply days like today but i think im starting to get used to it now unfortunately

  10. It all seems to have gone very wrong since that overweight waste of space joined the club.

If he thinks he will get in a premiership team with his weight/fitness he's livving in lala land im afraid.

Ship him out now please shez and take your self off with him

It went wrong a long time before windass came!!!
