  1. Has the area at Beal Valley been looked into? Just below Sholver and up from Shaw Rd, the council had designs to build a municiple golf course on that land. I think the last plans were to build just 9 holes. Can the 9 hole course not be built along with a new stadium and all the leisure faciltys? There must be at least 60 acres of land on that site.

If someone has mentioned it before sorry for repeating.

  2. I like the thinking... Knowing that ManUre are going to be in real trouble due to being an insolvent concern fought over by banks and pointless fans' groups, that City are building on sand and that Everton and Liverpool are torn apart by financial difficulties in the years to come, Penney times our rise to greatness perfectly.

Fast-forward three years and we are surging into the Premier League with said great players, and a newly annointed position as the most popular club in the North West. Our youth system is inundated with young talent, and we have a shiny new stadium at BP paid for by the Council (after the Machiavellian Penney set them up with a charitable land sting) seating 120,000 with training facilities that outshine Barca.

Once we have blown away an aging Chelsea side and just pipped a free-flowing Arsenal side to the title (each club over 50 points clear of the pack) Wenger opines that Dave Penney is in fact that ultimate footballing aesthete and admits that we are the best footballing side in the history of the game. Penney is knighted after he takes the England job part-time and brings home the World Cup. This job possible to multi-task because 19 out of the 23 man squad are Oldham players from the local area.

19 Premier League titles later (along with 15 Champions Leagues) OAFC have revolutionised the game by being the first wildly successful club who give vast amounts to charity, run foundations in 30 African states feeding and educating thousands, bring Democracy to Burma and finally force Kim Jong-Il to acknowledge that he is in fact a nutter. Dave Penney is further awarded the Nobel Peace Prize and the Victoria Cross after the team plane is shot down over Afghanistan and he is forced to resolve that dispute once and for all (no players are hurt, but perform with honour).

Funniest thing I have read on here for a long time, great imagination that lad!

Statues are raised to this pinnacle of human evolution, and when aliens invade he is the natural choice to lead humanity to victory (buoyed by discovering that he is descended from Alfred the Great and Churchill). Capturing the alien battle-cruiser he discovers the secret to faster than light travel and leads mankind to the stars. There he shows the assembled denizens of the multiverse how to play proper football, and is declared the greatest individual of all time. However being a sterling fellow he retires to a farm in Yorkshire and teaches the neighbours to not be inbred and aggravating. Ever resistant to change the yokels string him up, but the subsequent backlash sees Yorkshire folk interned in labour camps and the whole County is amalgamated into a Greater Lancashire under the new title "the arse-end of Lancashire".

Meanwhile OAFC have gone from strength to strength and now represent the planet against teams from around the Galaxy. Successfully.

Very funny, sat here crying laughing very very funny!

  3. Crikey..HARSH in the extreme. Hope your employers are as understanding.

The lad has never been out long with an injury was first to turn up for pre season and very unlucky...it can happen to anyone....

How badly is he injured? I see him nearly every day in the gym doing weights and running on the treadmill, I even saw him trying some stupid tricep excercise the other week that nearly broke his wrists, I said to him, you might as well break your wrist and have the rest of the year off!

  4. If I were the TTA, I'd be off as quick as my legs could carry me. This club is going to bankrupt the three of them if things carry on as they are. I wouldn't blame them one bit if they did a Chris Moore tomorrow.

I would be happy if they did do that and let us go bankrupt, I would rather pay £10 a week to watch a newly formed AFC Oldham who would start at the bottom of the football pyramid, than pay £20 a week to watch the dire :censored:e that is on offer at the moment, it really wouldnt bother me if Oldham Athletic went to the wall right now.

    Lost the faith me?

    Totally this season!

  5. I am currently renovating my house and I have come across a stack of my old Latics Programmes from season's 1999 - 2001/20002. There are programmes from most away matches from those season's as well as most home games as well. I don't have room for them anymore so want to get rid of them. I dont want much money for them if any at al,l but would like to see them go to a good home or a collector. So if any of you know of a local collector or know someone that wants them I would prefer to do that rather than put them in the bin.

    Thanks Andy

  6. Same here mate, we were hammered with two big bills a couple of weeks ago and even though my boy was supposed to be mascot, after shelling out the best part of £700 on repairs, there was know way I could justify nigh on another £400 for the weekend in Norwich for the four of us. So we spent a quarter of that on getting trollied and summat to eat in Manchester instead, had a cracking day and didn't see the result until 6 o'clock. My reaction? Meh!

I can cope with us being a bit :censored:, I mean FFS! I chose Latics over everyone else, what I can't stand is a team that is beaten before it gets on the pitch, the turnover of disinterested tossers doubling as footballers, the conveyor belt of mediocre managers and coaches and above all owners that are quickly becoming wolves in sheep's clothing...

Come the summer Mr. Blue Mist, I'll be joining you...

Myself included in this, I worked away for 10 years so missed a lot of Latics, but when I finally came back I started going to games again the first being Boxing day at home against Lincoln where I think we lost, Ritchie was in charge. Since then I have been a die hard supporter, West Ham on a wednesday night Carlo Corrazin 1-0 being among the highlights, awesome night got home at 5am on the Thursday morning and into work at 6! But after the garbage that has been served up this season I too am out! As I feel right now, never too return!

  7. LOL if he had flu im santa claus. He was in william hills before the wallsall game and i can assure you he did NOT have flu,he looked healthy enough to me and if he had flu he would have been in his bed.

I ve no doubt hes a latics fan but ffs he must be made of porcalin, injuries,'flu's,stomach bugs, what next i wonder?

Get him to eat some veg,his illness recors suggests hes not getting his 5 a day to me!!!

He didnt have flu when he was in the gym and in the swimming pool on Friday afternoon either, however Purdie was trying something stupid with tricep dips, dont be surprised to see him out with injured wrists!

  8. Where did this lad come from? Even if I don't agree with him (O'Grady), he's brilliantly right all the time.

Edit: I'm even starting to think the village idiot is right and that O'Grady is brilliant.

    Hi OldhamSheridan

I have always been here, I just tend to read most of the time, but I'm past the point of caring anymore, its quite clear that nobody on OWTB can agree with each other about whats best for the club and what should be done with it.

I do agree with you about O Grady though, but Shez must have seen something in him, he might have been watching him after 1 or 12 pints, we will never know!

  9. Its not about having a go at me, I will be there on Saturday, away at Walsall at Norwich etcc........... The facts are that enough die hards are weakening in their support, to cause grave concern that the fan base is eroding. I just hope that we can look back on the sacking of Shez, the demolition of the Lookers and the move to Failsworth as master strokes.

It doesn't matter how many stands we have, where the new stadium is going to be built, the sacking of Shez or the loaning out of Lee Hughes, the fact is that if we were top of the table or near the top of the table with some half decent footballers instead of a team full of cast offs and one ageing injured over the hill striker, people would be willing to come and support the team, as it is we have a team that can defend but don't know how to score goals and in football its quite a big part of actually winning games!!!

Why didn't we try to sign a couple more strikers in the summer instead of signing half a dozen midfielders, none of them in the mould of Ritchie Wellens or Neil Kilkenny (and I never thought that I would say that about kilkenny) the loaning out of fleming hasn't been great either but that subject has been well documented on here.

Also why loan out O Grady, and Stephens? they haven't had a chance since Shez brough them in, Lee, Brooke and Allesandra deserve a chance to shine as well, has everyone forgotten the hat trick Allesandra scored against Scunthorpe, and what happened in the next game? He got dropped!

Its worse than supporting Harchester United at times supporting Oldham

  10. I talked to him in the gym 2 weeks ago, he was with Wolfy, I asked him what he was doing next season and he said I dont have anything yet, and added no one had shown interest in him yet either, so god knows where hes heading, I'd welcome him back here, when ever I have seen him in the gym or out and about he always comes across as a nice guy. It seems thats not the same in the dressing room though.

  11. Just stumbled across this post, very very very funny, keep it going please, i have not laughed this much for ages, really brings some fun to the day to day running of Harchester United, sorry I mean Oldham Athletic

  12. I'm happy with DP, I'm glad that the TTA have ignored the calls for Ex Latics heros at long last, I just hope people on the boards can give the new manager some time and let him build his own team and see what happens.

Another point is that now we have a new manager with no links to Latics maybe people on here can stop the calls for Kilkenny, Haining, Wellens etc to come and play for us again, who ever DP signs lets get behind them and support the them all.

  13. Yet why the apparent moaning about his performances? If really they were scared of paying out money due to our striker actually being a success and reaching a decent goal total.

Whilst Hughes was scoring we were a play off position, his preformances have been mediocre lately as have most of the team really, I think that once we had lost against Tranmere and only drawn at Cheltenham the writing was on the wall for this season being over, so may as well get rid now rather than later.

If Hughes had have been scoring every week I doubt we would have dropped out of the play off places.

  14. Sorry if Im well behind Mighty Bosh, but if you are not happy after 3 years and not prepaired to wait another year for promotion why dont you try supporting someone who will bounce up and down the leagues for the rest of time.

I have supported Oldham for 28 years now and have seen good bad and indifferent, so I say goodbye Joe Royle your job has been done, bring in someone who is not afraid of giving the youngsters there chance next year, and maybe we will get promotion with the kids, Hmmm Alan Hansen sometime in the 90s i belive

  15. No disrespect meant to Shez, but after every poor preformance Shez came out in the media and stated that "next week I'l change things around drop players who need dropping" from my view the only player he ever dropped was Lomax after the Hereford match.

So T3A hae now changed Shez for Royle, wether Royle will stay beyond the end of the season I dont know, nor am I sure if I want him to stay and possibly scar his reputation at this club.

At least Royle has come in and had the balls to change things around.

The season is over for us now, so let Joe give the youngsters a chance in the last 7 games and seee what happens, if nothing else it might give them a bit of confidence for next season.

My own theory on why we have come up short again this season is that Shez brought too many journeymen strikers in on loan.
