I feel for TTA's and can understand Simon Corneys dismay, however, you need only look at some of the other attendances in our division on Saturday to see it's not just us. It is, after all, a bank holiday weekend. Lots of people are away or doing other things for the weekend and speaking personally, I find the long school holiday period more expensive than when the kids are in school.
Scunthorpe.......Att. 4,717
Northampton.....Att. 4,402
Leyton Orient....Att. 3,803
Hartlepool Utd...Att. 3,945
Crewe Alex.......Att. 4,160
Some very poor attendances.
I will be eternally grateful to TTA's for what they have done/are doing for us and I hope they will give it until at least the January transfer window before they consider selling anyone. (Assuming attendances don't improve).
Here's hoping.

Yes-I quite clearly say above that we are obliged to regard ourselves as Mancs, as this 'lights my candle.'
Although by a trick of the light, when you read my post it actually looks as if I merely explained that we are officially part of Greater Manchester as opposed to Lancashire.
What is quite clear is that it's no surprise to me that a lot of other posters resort to personal comments when corresponding with you.
-
We are in Greater Manchester, as are several other former Lancashire towns (including the city of Manchester.) When Greater Manchester council was abandoned, the county continued as an administrative region.
Lancashire is similarly an administrative region (although possibly with a still functioning county council?), containing only a part of the old county territory.
That doesn't mean that the towns that were formerly in Lancashire, such as our own, cannot regard themselves as historically Lancastrian.
The bottom line is, Corp, that whilst we still live in a free country I will always use Oldham Lancs. You are most welcome to regard yourself as a Manc or supporting a team in Greater Manchester if that lights your candle, but me, never.
As regards our current club badge, I think it's fine as it is.
-
No, they're both in Greater Manchester...
Oldham IS NOT in Greater Manchester. Greater Manchester was binned as a so called county years ago. Oldham is, and always has been in LANCASHIRE.

Its ok, i doubt you are educated to a high enough standard to work for us anyway
You're probably right with that assumption, but what are you basing you judgement of my education on? Not being ashamed of being English doesn't make my education poor..............does it?
-
I disagree....
If more people dont air there disapproval we might end up with a national holiday!!
Sod that, theres money to be earnt!!!
(by the way I own my own company and a national holday = no revenue = unhappy me)
Also Englands a ###### hole and a shadow of its former self and I dont see anything worth celebrtating to be frank...
When I saw that you own your own company I was about to send you a begging "gizzajob" e'mail 'coz I'm currently in a crap job, but I don't think I want to work for you after all now you moaning git.

Football is all about opinions isn't it? But I can't understand why so many fans seem so keen to let two more of our good, developing players go. We let Trotters go and I could understand the reasoning behind the decision, even though I thought we should have kept him. For my money, Taylor is one of our best players, in skill, effort, attitude and potential. We need to keep players like that if we really have any ambition. Eardley is probably easier to replace without signing anyone, but I still think an ambitious club would try to keep him. Taylor, Eardley, Allessandra ans Smalley should all continue to improve, AND THAT SHOULD BE WITH US.

talking of which...........................................................................
............................. try this
You are driving at constant speed, on your left is a sheer drop, on your right is a fire engine, travelling the same speed as you. In front of you is a galloing pig, the same size as your car and you cannot overtake it. Behind you is a helicopter flying at ground level also travelling at the same speed. What must you do to safely get out of this highly dangerous situation?................................................................................
..........................................................
Get the
off the kiddies merry go round you pissed up sod.
P.S. Apologies for the swearing which is in the joke. lol
Now that's the best joke I've heard (seen) in weeks.

The only guarantee you can be sure of following Latics and keeping the Faith through thin and thinner, is that you will be disappointed. Once one accepts that as a fact, then one has to enjoy the brief highlights for all they're worth, before falling off the horse. Then get back on again for another roller-coaster ride again next season....and the season after...etc.
I find roller coasters scary enough without trying to sit on a horse on one!!!!!

Not just a font of all football knowledge, but a song for every occassion as well!
I'm just grateful Diego can't post the audio on here!

The late, great Alan Groves.
Too long ago for my dicky memory to give precise details but I remember him running at a fullback, stopping and sitting on the ball before taking it past him. Also remember him scoring a superb goal (against Blackburn I think). Took a corner which came back to him, took the ball to the corner of the penalty area and then leathered it into the top corner. Can't remember who their goalie was but he was a big name at the time.

Thanks for that boundaryblue.
I've been in the Chaddy for years and for me the stand lost its soul when the wooden floorboards were removed. The bigger lads used to stamp in unison and the noise and vibration got pretty frightening, (I was a youngster back then), but it didn't half help the atmosphere. When the new Lookers (Ford Stand) is in place I fancy sitting there, just 'cos I prefer the view from the side so turning the pitch around would knacker that plan a little. My daughter has made me renew our season tickets in the Chaddy for the last few years 'cos she liked the atmosphere created by the singers, but she's reached a funny age now (17) and she's started to prefer to go shopping with her mates!!!!!!! This would never have happened if the Chaddy had retained it's old feel.
-
Did I imagine this.........but isn't there talk of rotating the pitch so the Chaddy and RRE will be at the side of the pitch when the development is complete?
Or do I need to lay of the booze now?
-
Two already mentioned do it for me. The Leeds play-off loss on the away goal rule depressed me for weeks, but I still look back to Wembley and remember looking at my watch with 30 seconds to go and then staring up at the Wembley rafters trying to grasp the fact that we were about to reach the FA Cup Final.............and then that nice M**k H****s did that to us.
I still haven't got over it.

I dont mean to Tease
Ricketts and his fast cars will not be parking at BP anymore ...
Lets no worry about this fella anymore ...
Now you're beginning to sound like Homer Simpson. "Now let us never speak of it again". (Usually when he's just been found out).
-
who ?
SEE! That's what I'm getting at. Wardlelatic seems to know something.................................or is he just teasing me?
-
Does anyone on OWTB actually really know what's going on with our man Ricketts? He's not in the Walsall team tonight or on the bench. Is his loan finishrd, and if so, is he back at BP?

At Leeds on Monday he knew it would be his last game for the club. He could have easily played at 50% and made sure he didn't get injured because he knew he was off to a new club before his next game. However, he didn't, and he put in an absolutely fantastic display. Fully commited, and helped us wrap up 3 points with one of the best Latics performances I have ever seen. He always gave 100% (didnt always play well, but nobody always plays well), and he has now earnt himself a move to one of the biggest clubs in the country. They might be in our league, but they are a massive club. They will be out of this league by the end of the year, and so will KK.
After that performance on Monday I dont know how anyone can have any bitterness towards him. If that was his parting gift, then what a gift!
I am annoyed because its dirty Leeds, but I can totally understand why he has gone there.
Very well put Dave Ragg. At last, a mature post on this thread. I find a lot of this childish bitterness to our players and former players very embarrassing. Some of our fans need to grow up.
-
Good move for him and no hard feelings from me. I think he has done well for us, on both his stays.
Can't understand anyone wanting to work for that horrible Denis Wise git though.
-
Yep. I was there for all three. They were in the days when I had the freedom and the funds to lavish on my first love. (Latics of course). My first child was born later in the year and things have never been quite the same since. (For Latics and for me).
What a team though.
