  1. Katsidis looked a massive class above Mitchell, he was very heavy handed as well, he is the sort of fighter you want to watch when he is charging forward with no respect for the opponent whilst throwing big bombs, Mitchell was like a bullied kid as he was trying to run away.

Khan looked good and like you said very solid, his hand speed and head movement has improved alot under the guidance of Freddy Roach, however are they never going to take the chance of pairing him up with a boxer who can actually land a big punch after what Prescott did to him, his chin has not been tested since that fight and if he wants a big pay day there is few big fights in that division awaiting him against guys who can punch.

James Degale frustrates the hell out of me when i watch him, if he concentrated on his boxing instead of pissing about with the crowd he could be a great fighter, he throws shots from all angles but he is too inconsistant at the minute.

Really poor show from Mitchell, standing in front of Katsidis with your back to the ropes is just suicide.

As for Khan I think they've reached that point in his career where they don't have any have any option but to fight legit opponents (Bradley/Maidana/Alexander). To give credit to Khan he sounds up for it too, and unlike Warren, Goldenboy aren't over protective of their fighters. *cough*Calzaghe*cough*

  2. Mitchell is one dimensional, over protected by Frank Warren and made the mistake of spending to much time on the ropes which you do not want to do against Katsidis.

Khan put in a solid performance but looked sloppy when he wasn't throwing the jab, if he lunges in like that against Maidana or Devon Alexander then he gets put away.

  3. Yes but also like Ian Dowie and John Sheridan and shock, horror, Joe Royle, Jimmy Frizzell, who each got their first managerial appointments with us and went on to enjoy some degree of success. Royle and Frizzell got us promoted a division, dowie got us to the playoffs, as did Shez but also chuck in there a decent cup run with a huge scalp.

Giving a manager his first crack as worked more times than it hasnt with us

To be honest I don't think Morinho could manage a top half finish with our budget.

  4. My personal preference would be to give someone their first crack at management, someone who wants to make a name for themself as a manager and is willing to work on a budget.

We have tried experience with Talbot, Moore, Royle 2nd Era and Penney, none have worked.

Our two most sucessful managers within the last 10 years, Shez and Dowie, both given their first chance.

    You mean like Graeme Sharp?

  5. The only problem with that is that we will have to do well next season to get people back. With the current situation at the club and miniscule budget for next season I find it impossible to think we will do well next season, we will probably be in the same position as this season, around the relegation zone all year and hopefully just do enough to survive again.

If we finish in the mid 60's then that will be acceptable.

  6. It's a bit of a catch 22 situation we've got. The owners can't and won't invest money in the squad when there's only 3k coming through the gates, and we can't get people to the gates because paying £20 to watch mediocre football in a :censored:hole of a stadium is hardly a pleasurable day out. Things wouldn't be so bad if we had money coming in from a club gym or hotel 7 days a week but we don't have that either. We need a new ground, and fast.

I also believe Penney has earnt his right to stay and hopefully those stubborn bastards who've said they won't be back at BP whilst Penney is at the helm will change their minds if he does well next season. I suspect they will, football fans can be very fickle lol.
