  1. I have been to the ground a few times but never into the town - is it worth a look, for shopping and eating, or should I call in at Meadowhall, Sheffield on the way up the M1.

Also, is anyone else collecting tickets from the Huddersfield ticket office - the money has come out of my bank for it, so hope it is there!

I was born and brought up in Huddersfield, it's an reasonable shopping centre - better than Oldham but obviously doesn't have the same choice as Meadowhell! Plenty of decent eating places and drinking holes but be aware Udders fans can and are arses, I should know I had to put up with them in school!

If you do go to Meadowhell, come off at Junction 35A and follow the signs for Udders. Be aware though that they have speed / distance cameras on the Stocksbridge by-pass. I should know I got caught on there 3yrs ago. Go no faster than 60mph!

Latics fans coming from Oldham should call into the riverhead brewery in the centre of Marsden if you like real ale and a decent pub - it's right by the river funnily enough. There is also the Sairs Inn in Linthwaite which is a spit and sawdust pub but another real ale boozer. Both are not far off the beaten track.

  2. As I Yorkshire lad I was converted to the joys of Hollands by my dear departed Lancastrian Gran. I can quite honestly say that they are the best Meat 'n' Tattie pie by a long way.... Fact! :imnotworthy: Can we follow Dales example and serve the pies with mushy peas?

'Udders used to do a top deal of a Hollands pie combined with a pint for the pricely sum of £2.50

  3. If you haven't seen it already then you gotta see Shane Meadows film Dead Mans Shoes..... Absolute class. A cult film already, never mind for the future......

I agree with you 100% re: Dead Mans Shoes - Abolutely classic film. My 2nd favourite film of all time behind Withnail and I.

  4. My mortgage is with northern rock but we are stil s**t

If Northern Rock goes belly up which it shouldn't considering the Bank of England has backed them, then if the worst comes to the worst the only thing that will happen is that your mortgage will get transferred to another mortgage provider! I know that you may not get your mortgage at the same rate but at least you won't be losing your home! As for being sh@t i'ts early days and trust me after watching Latics for 30yrs it's never an easy ride!

By the way, does anybody out there know a good company to work for and who are hiring? I've never been out of work since I left school (apart from going from going to university).

  5. I am just wondering what peoples opinions are of Gregan's start to the season? IMO he seems to have lost even more of what little pace he had & has cost us a few goals because of this. I don't doubt that he is an excellent player with tremendous ariel ability, but he struggles far too much againt anyone with a slight turn of foot which could end up costing us in the long run to promotion. I don't think this situation would be too bad if we had a pacey quality defender to back him up. What are your thoughts?

Way too slow! Against Bristol Rovers you could see he was completely out of breath - it reminded me of my Sunday morning centre half performances whilst hungover against which ever 16 - 17 year old forward I was playing - plus he was sweating more than I was which goes some considering I'd drunk enough the previous night to refloat the Titanic

  6. aye, no big deal at all ( I am right though and you are very, very wrong ;) )

What footie is all about, one man's Geoff Hurst is another's Geoff Thomas.

How dare you bismurch Geoff Thomas' name! I'll never forget seeing him at Wembley (T'old one) against France; when we got seated with all the French fans; and Geoff was one on one with the goalie and managed to hit the corner flag!!!

  7. I'd forgotten about that h_s but I can now hear it clear as day in my head and the memories come flooding back.

    Bring back The Rockford Files!!!!!!!

I remember both Mouldy Old Dough and The Rockford Files theme tunes - aaah they were the days when I used to get money from the old Ford Stand for collecting glasses.
