Unsurprisingly no, I have not seen Arbroath's stadium.
My point was quite clearly that was the B2Net has no echoes of vernacular architecture. It could be plonked anywhere in the UK as it was clearly not designed to reflect its location in Chesterfield.
I would like to think that any stadium built in the Oldham area would make an attempt to look like it belongs there.

Two or three seasons away? You'll have your work cut out if you don't drag your arses out of the relegation zone pretty sharpish!
True but I'd rather be where we are now with the ground in place generating funds than your situation and I'm not being a smart aris.
-
My only problem with Chesterfield's ground is that it's in a town that's :censored: to get to!
Is there any longer journey (timewise) per mile on a clear road than that place?
You obviously don't use the Sheffield ring road from Meadowhall then - I live in Wakefield and it is normally a 40 minute run.
-
I'll tell you why there were no forks. The balloon who finally served me after a twenty minute wait knocked a cup full of forks onto the floor behind the bar whilst passing me my Guinness. Instead of picking them up, he just trampled all over them. As for the ballboy, of course it was out of order, and should be investigated, but I must say I've never felt more comfortable and respected as a supporter than last night. The stewards and fans were extremely friendly and helpful.
Thats a nice comment my friend so thankyou.

Right size??
10,600 capacity, would be a joke for any team with Championship aspirations.
The corners can be filled making it 12.5 k but realists would say the championship is 2/3 seasons away yet.
-
Parked on the opposite side of the road (off street) Straight in straight out both games. No problem. I'd rather it be 16000 minimum though. Sure we wont fill it but at least it shows the ambition to fans and future backers/players.
Down to finances my friend - 13 million for 10.4k all seater.
Rotherham's will be 12.5k costing 20 + million.
We have only been full for a couple of games so far so it looks as the size was judged to be correct.
-
Yes...and you're point being? The pop, crisp and Tv money Chesterfield are raising won't be shared.
the concourse sales rake in about 30k per game for us.
-
Pretty sure gate proceeds are shared for both games.
I THINK YOU ARE CORRECT
-
Why should they care about what money Latics take in? Yes, the idea may be a bit silly as it will reduce the number of Chesterfield fans spurring their team on but with regards to them not thinking about how much money we will rake in, rubbish!
Do you think Corney & Co are arsed about how much money Chesterfield made last night? Not in the slightest. Our fans made the trip to help cheer the team on and nothing else.
And as for your 'Had I known this prior to last night I wouldn't have paid in their ground' attitude - well, what a great attitude to have. Would it really have made that much a difference to your decision of whether to go and follow your team?
i'T'S ONLY A 400 VENUE AND i WOULD THINK PEOPLE WHO ARE AT WORK TILL LATE AND UNABLE TO ATTEND WILL TAKE UP THE OFFER - I THINK BEING ON SKY IS THE BIGGEST REASON FOR FANS NOT TO TRAVEL, WOULD YOU HAVE GONE IF WE'D BEEN LIVE GUYS.
-
Fair play????? it's a f**king disgrace. Listen if they sold out their allocation and fans were missing out, sure. But taking money out of Latics pockets? I tell ya what if I'd have known this prior to last night I wouldn't have paid in their ground.
What's the away allocation at BP.
-
I just hope it inspires your lot to turn up. How many will you be bringing? any idea.
Hard to say but normally we turn out in good numbers when it's something to play for - the club however are screening it in the lounges at the b2net with being on sky a fiver in with a pint and a pie.
The Monday night is a bummer but at least we've changed to a Friday night game that weekend - are you still playing on the saturday.
-
was against chesterfield though and that will be in their minds coming back to bp
Don't think so mate and we;ve a forward coming in this week to strengthen us. You do realise you were pulled ragged at the back by a reserve striker(Boden) and you even let him score.
I thought your defence looked well suspect as against the 1-1 draw and to be honest thought you would have taken a lead back to BP.
Well we're improving with every game and I'm quite optimistic now with a 1 goal lead. Should all make for a very tense return - enjoyed the game lads' very open really considering the prize.
-
Especially as there's a Greggs by the ground outside the Tesco's, so you could get a pie for about a quid anyway. Leaving you c£4 for a pint somewhere nice instead.
Gregg's in Tesco an all.

I was told by a Spirite some time last year that the Chairman had insisted that Shez wouldn't be allowed to go loan-happy after seeing the arse he made of it with us. Old habits die hard it seems.
lOANS ARE THE ONLY SENSIBLE ROUTE ATM WHEN YOU LOOK AT OUR LEAGUE POSITION.
-
Unbelieveably this re-arrangement has made way for my presence tomorrow. I might have to be an early arrival about half 4 so plenty of time to wet the throat for the singing. Where will I be able to find other Latics fans to drink with?
Derby Tup?
Plenty of hostelries around the ground - a fiver gets you a pie and a pint upto an hour before KO inside the ground
-
I think Barry should be on the blower to the FA/Football League
SQUEEKEY BUM TIME ? WHY I THINK YOUR STILL FAVOURITES.
-
Stop worrying everyone. I mean, how good are Shez's loan signings generally....
Josh Thompson, 6'-4" CB from Celtic the rumour.
-
Ridiculous. The pitch will be fine come 7 o'clock and we know it.
Chesterfield will sign a CB in time for kick off without doubt so smells a tad fishy....
Player obviously delayed to sign for 12 o'clock lol

And a forward guys !! told you
-
TOMORROW TO BE CONFIRMED.
-
Might be absolute nonsense and we'll find out soon enough but I've retweeted a Sheffield journalist who said at 10am:
@domhowson: I've been told Chesterfield's match in the JPT tonight with Oldham is likely to beat the cold snap and go ahead.
He then followed up with:
As soon as I get official confirmation over the Spireites match being on, will let you know.
No Trottman guys for this one and we are trying to bring a CB in !!!!!! Tick tock....
-
Ha ha, you are not used to the drama of OWTB are you
No undersoil heating................ Shez out!!!
Oh yes I am we have the same gene pool on our board
-
Thanks for the update.
Certainly reads like the game will be off. Piss poor from Chesterfield - a new league ground should have undersoil heating. We've been fortunate so far with a mild winter so they've been spared until now but that's just not good enough.
Fortunately I can still make Wednesday, though I'm sure there'll be a fair few who can't. Shame really, still hoping it's tomorrow but whichever way hopefully the boys put on a show whenever.
Frost covers have been in place daily from last Friday - cannot see a problem guys.
-
Do they not have frost covers at their fancy new stadium???
YEP they've been in place since Friday. You are a very over reactionary bunch after all it's only a precautionary measure and the temp is going to rise quite significantly.
On the under soil heating subject - why spend thousands on a system without the prospect of financial gain.

What's that a new dance - we'd better get ready to use it at Wembley.
