  1. I think even the price of football has changed a lot in ten years. I can't picture any Oldhamer completely unaffiliated with Latics that would turn up on a Saturday and pay £22 to get into the ground off the back of a few wins. I think the key thing we're missing is the enticement, which is usually an offer game (could be something seasonable, a one off 5er a match) then we pull them in with a decent deal like the Golden ticket the other season. The only difference is that now we're playing better football and on the up.

  2. I started coming back regularly after the £2 game vs Exeter during Dave Penney's reign. I bought a Half-Season ticket shortly after.

I know this was possibly the worst season in our last decade (although the x games without a goal in Dickov's first/second? season may have eclipsed it) but the whiff of pies on a Saturday afternoon reminded me I didn't really have owt better to do on a Saturday afternoon.

  3. The crowd was that raucous I actually feel quite sad because we're unlikely to see a crowd like that travelling like we did again this season. Like post holiday blues.

Great support, I'm not sure why some Dale fans are suggesting we should be ashamed.

I strongly suspect that a hoolie from a century ago woudl give today's version a good hiding, and the world was no stranger to themL:

"What is the first recorded incident of football violence or hooliganism?

If you're talking about the modern game, then look no further than the 1880s and, in particular, Preston North End. In 1885, Preston's 5-0 friendly win over Aston Villa sent the supporters - who were described by press reports of the time as "howling roughs" - into a frenzy. The two teams were pelted with stones, attacked with sticks, punched, kicked and covered in spittle. One of the Preston players was beaten so severely that he lost consciousness.

The following year Preston fans notched up another first - fighting Queens Park fans in a railway station. Another milestone of sorts was reached in 1905 when several Preston supporters were tried for hooliganism, including a "drunk and disorderly" 70-year-old woman, following their match against Blackburn.

I'm sure it was on here I read something about Oldham v Fulham and disgruntled mill working Yonner types throwing stones at the train back to London.

  5. With it being unreserved seating, I'd say get there well before - if you're bothered about where you sit that is!

Which brings me to my next question. Where are the singers going? Towards the left of the stand looking out? Want to be amongst the noise for this one.

I hope there is a bit of handbags in the home end. It'll make us look MASSIVE.
