  1. Since when do Latics fans fight each other on the terraces? I have followed Oldham for 19 years and am disgusted to see a 'fan' turn round a hit an oldwr fan for telling him to sit down when there is no call to. Shows what comes out of the woodwork when a bit of glory is offered.

  2. My worry is that he has been released by relegated Bury and only Guiseley wanted him.

Not exactly the back up you want with with a potential relegation battle on the way. We've already got Byrne who can be solid enough.

There could be a number of reasons why Bury released him with the state they where in with players, finance and management. He played at Guisley because he couldn't play at a higher level as was outside the transfer window for league clubs and therefore has kept fitness by playing where ever he could until Transfer window.

I do see what you are saying in some ways but my argument is see what he is like before slating him.

  3. I'm sorry that the prospect of 32 year old signed from Guiseley, playing against Liverpool, doesn't excite me.

Hopefully he's more of a coach that can play when desperate and we've another defender coming in.

Least he isn't a kid from a bigger club that hasn't learned the trade yet and is out of his depth like seen recently with young Plummer. Ok I admit it's not the holywood signing some hoped for but if he does a job on Sunday then fair play.

  4.

I won't, and i'm sure I speak for the rest of us when I say i'll be 100% behind whoever wears the blue shirt on Sunday. I don't rate Adam Rooney. I rate Connor Brown even less. I voice that opinion on here occasionally, although never within earshot of the pitch. None of that will cross my mind when the players emerge from the tunnel on Sunday. If he picks Lockwood to start, and he gives his all, he'll do for me.

  5.

Aside from a couple of individual errors (Plummer v Col U, Brown v Shrews) and 2 beauties (Baxter & Baker) we have generally looked pretty solid at the back, hence why we have only lost by 2 goals twice this season.

If we had someone who could be clinical in front of goal consistently we would have won comfortably yesterday and probably taken 3 points at Cov and Sheff Utd...

Goals win games, simple! Get another forward in!

  6.

I would imagine that Dayton will start and that we will play with a back 4 - so Brown in and maybe Petrasso on the bench.

As for the score - my heart says a narrow defeat, my head says a wide defeat... It all depends on the team that Liverpool put out and whether we step up on the day.

I will not be at the game but wish the travelling fans a game to remember! Enjoy the day.

Ah you are quite right. In that case swap Schmeltz with Dayton. I'd stick with Patts because he looks dangerous and can run at people.

My heart says 3-5-2 but again I think your 4-4-2 is possibly what will happen.

  7. I don't think the club wanted an arrest statistic against us hence why the stewards were left to deal with it so long.

I'm not sure if the guy was that far gone that he would have picked a fight with God on the day. The stewards as far as I know aren't paid or if so not much. They shouldn't have to deal with stuff like that. On the other hand the guy shouldn't have been let in in the first place.

  8. Yes I sit in the main stand and no I don't think we are in the same position as last year. LJ is building a decent squad who play football that, Colchester apart, is entertaining and enjoyable to watch.

I thought this was a game we could easily lose because, as last year, the players want to be fit and available to play against Liverpool. With the exception of JCH and the headless Millar I thought they all held back just a little.

    I do have two moans:

Why was Tarky left on when clearly injured in the first half? Why is Millar considered to be a professional footballer? It seems clear to me that LJ is somewhat disappointed with the flat footed Rooney and can only have brought Millar on as the greatest ever insult he could publicly make.

We lost the game not because we (I exclude Millar) didn't take our chances as they were well defended but rather because Connor gifted them a goal and Mellor saw fit to help them to another.

We are in a relegation battle but I am confident we will pull clear and finish mid table.

Take it you don't rate Miller then?! LOL :)
