Indeed. We were in L1 which is probably a tier too high for him. Chesterfield fans love him and are hoping he’s retained by the way.

Yes but he got stick because he was a lazy bastard not because he lacked ability.

Very similar to most of our current squad.

I'm coming round to the idea that whatever happens Mellon will need till this time next year to be properly judged, I know that's a swing in my opinion and some might say that's fickle but some things are stacking up differently for me now, I've been critical of managers in the past when really they took the shit for bad owners and I'm of the opinion now that there is little point gunning for Mellon because our problems run deeper.

None of us really care about styles of play and tactics if the results are good and I personally feel Mellon with half a dozen solid signings can deliver that and in this situation we shouldn't be scrutinizing the manager but looking at the deeper issues and the culture that exists which iI have a feeling he's determined to worm out, dirty washing is out now and some of these players no longer have anywhere to hide and if that takes another month, six months or a year to correct then so be it I say.

I'm going to back him after the news broken by Suzanne last week, short of a club statement it answered many of my concerns and gave me an insight in to where the club is at.

I think we've hit rock bottom and now I feel the only way is up and I think Mellon has the balls and personality to put the foundations in place even if I don't always agree with everything he does. I suppose I'm coming round to the idea of trusting the process.

It's really not easy for Mellon.Brian Clough is a prime example. He got rid of Currie because he parked in his parking spot. Then Brian was destroyed at Leeds by player power. I prefer a manager who speaks his mind.It takes a lot of moving parts for a team to be successful but no.1 is players commitment, effort and loyalty cause we pay their wages.Bad apples in a team are a problem. If players are undermining the manager its not the managers fault.Players not performing, not trying and moaning should be dealt with.Ideally they should be sacked but as has been said many times agents and contracts limit the managers ability to respond to the situation especially when half your team was obtained by your previous numpty manager.Mellon needs a chance to sort us out. Hopefully all the bits of the jigsaw will fall into place next year.Till then he and the owners need our support.

Alty 1-0 up at Bromley, Linney goal with a Conn-Clarke assist.

Nobody can tell me that these playoff teams have more overall ability than we have, they just seem to have a plan and style of play and stick with it.

They are also proving as well that once you are in them anyone can progress.

Upsets me to think instead of linney we got Nuttall. We really haven't recruited very well have we? If only they listened to B.P.

True.  But I don't get why it exchanged so abruptly from when we were 5th.  I'm sure something happened.  I know he's dour but he's looked completely uninterested since then

Something has happened. It will all come out in the end. Suffice to say certain players have caused deep unrest at the club.Their are no friendships and that shows as a lack of fight and effort on the pitch.

  5. I like Mellon but sometimes I think he's becoming Unsworth in disguise.

    What's he saying today?

We've played a lot of top teams recently.Rochdale?Oxford?and drawn too many that we should have won.I wonder if he and the players are on drugs?I feel for him but come on. The players have shown no desire. Hopefully he can sort it out.

Still don't know  why Halifax, or their fans, would be dancing with glee at having three home games rearranged away cos the local council have failed to maintain the pitch.

They would have had to play those games whatever but now when they play us at Chesterfield they won't have 1800 fans backing the opposition.Whose gonna go to Chesterfield midweek?

I've renewed my season ticket because I support a club I've followed for over 60 years.

But to see Frank's best intentions being ruined is heartbreaking.

Win our last 2 games and we might yet be celebrating.Mellon is a good man and I honestly believe he knows what to do. He is not deluded like unsworth was. He needs our support and time.He has vast experience and he knows who's not doing their job. Those players will either have their arses smacked or will be removed next year.Lets just beat Halifax for a start.
