I still remember the hyped up big annoouncement of many a year ago at the Civi Centre... queues formed at length around the place with rumours of a new ground. I didn't manage to get in and was well miffed. And then all it was was an announcement about a new money making lottery.

How did Lee Hughes play?

Could they have been sunbathing near Tokyo and got hit by a big wave....??

Can we start talking about the types of pies the new stadium will sell?

My daughter used to work behind the main stand bar for a season and she was rarely paid the correct amount and never on time. It is a shambles form top to bottom.

Trying to run a Club on crowds of less than 4,000 and being kicked in the assets consistently by the Council would appear to be leading to one inevitable conclusion. Meanwhile, as I said elsewhere, where there's life there's hope, and as long as the Club survives, it's up to supporters to do just that, support instead of going round saying we're f'd and wallowing in despair.
I think that it is a real shame that Trust has not stood up and galvanised a response. What is the point of having a "fan" on the board and when hard times like this arrive, we don't have the benefit of knowledge. OK, there is a need for careful consideration but surely the Trust Committee can respond?

Clearly Eaves money wasn't enough....now we have advetised publically that we are bankrupt we will be in a fire sale and where Taylor may have been worth 250k he is now 25k.
-
Also why wasn't Taylor sold in the close season when we must have been hard against the wall financially.. and where are the other bidders for the club and why wasn't the club sold to peeps who would have been more able to keep it afloat....

Hi Alec
Where does it say in the artical we have received external investment, I'm baffled by your comment.
Ian G.
Ian, I read this as being the hint.."wages were not paid on
Friday due to a cash-flow issue. This is expected to be a
short-term problem which has been created by the withdrawal of
development investors?"
My reading was that the club has borrowed on the future sales of land to people who may have opted to buy a stake on the Failsworth site. Clearly the Board took too big a risk in believing that the land was a done deal. I was not alone when at the tunr of the year we suddenly offloaded dead wood and then bought new players.. where was all of the money coming from? I suspect we know now.
-
The bottom line is that the club has been very badly managed for the last 20 years.
-
It does confirm that we have received external investment and this explains all of the loans and contract buyouts. Let's hope that OMBC move fast.
-
Sorry chaps it was a jest... but it would be a great place for the club to reside....after all OMBC have also killed off the best market in the UK.
-
I've heard that we have been offered Tommy Field Market so that we can have a ground at the heard of the town centre.
-
Trouble is that we have too many loan players and we may well have the goalscorer but we simply do not have anything like a settled forward line. I for one dislike watching a team that chops and changes like we do. No forward will score goals if all they get is 20 minutes here and there....
-
Yep good idea a long time coming. Now, why not put on travel to/from those places to saveon parking close to the ground or incurring parking charges? A ooach to/from the Upsteps would suit me fine.

gas works still in use infact offices just refurbished and new car parks built surrounded with cast plaques from closed gas works all over the nw cant see it closing soon with the amount of money spent on it !
There are two gas works sites... the current training (?) site off Mersey Road and the old site alongside the M60 (I think). And if the and is contaminated then it would be cheap....
-
Take a few minutes to go and stand on the land where the Roxy was and you will be gobsmacked how small it is ???
OK..so try standing on the old gas works site. If we forget Hotels etc. etc. et TTA take the money from selling The Lancaster Club site and that bit of BP they have sold and with the rest rebuild slowly somewhere else.

Hollinwood anyone?

Reply from Michael Meacher
"Thanks for your email.
I am currently in discussions with the Labour Group on the Council about this issue who appear to be looking for an alternative site. I will get back to you as soon as there is any news.
Best regards,
Michael"

are they going to bother reading them if they're all from one template??
might be a better idea to just say what you want in your own words
just a suggestion
can they, will they and how will they get involved/help is all i'm going to ask.
getting into detail will only see them picking arguments apart knowing the kind of people these are
I agree with that. My letters are my work, good or bad.
-
Is the plan then for everyone to write to their local councillor and MP?
As the club said in their email to me, if we don't show our displeasure they will assume that all is OK. Shame that all of my Councillors are Asisn as they couldn't care less. and before anyone shouts that is not a racist statement.. I have written to them on other subjects but they never reply.
-
I asked the club is they thought that contacting our local Councillors/MP's was worthwhilejust now or was it counterproductive.
Here is the reply:-
"There is no harm in fans contacting MPs and Councillors to let them know the importance of keeping the club in town.
The more pressure that can be exerted now on all parties the better, as there is likely to be a change of control in May.
Get all the fans to lobby there councillors and MP, the more action the better.
If they see there is no reaction from fans then they may say no one is bothered."
Up to you if you write but carefully crafted letters with no slander may be order of the day.

If we'd got permission from the council 4 months earlier in 2007 redevelopment would have been well underway by the time the crash came.
Gutting. Thanks again OMBC.
Yep I was at that meeting where Cllr Bashforth chose to not trust his own officers and stopped the planning application to await another traffic report. He lost us the chance to redevelop.

Anyone know if Dickov and Taggart were at the match today? Or have they vanished?
