Napoleon wasn't actually that short, he was IIRC 5ft 7, which is equivalent in today's times of being about 6ft2.
is that due to inflation ?

Never a 0-3. Thought we matched them for much of the game. Their no 11 was most creative player on the pitch and they were clinical in 2nd half. Harkins was superb out wide Sat but I reckon his best position is behind the main striker . Dayton looks woeful at the moment , their 1st goal came because he didn't get it over the 1st man- again!!.If Worrall is injured try Millar out wide .he's no centre forward but he has a trick and can cross it . Also someone needs to tell JCH he doesn't have to burst the net every time.and Philly for me over Charlie Mac.
3 goals from our front 2 {any of them } in last 11 league games says it all {3 fromJCH} and is the reason why we are not sat midtable, mac will be gone at the end of the season, no end product and JCH will be hear for 1 more year and nothing more if he does learn to play with the rest of the team,

Very early days, and I appreciate it'd be harsh to label him a dud after a 30 minute cameo, however I couldn't shake off how immobile he looked. It was though we'd just brought Boris Johnson onto the pitch. Looked very slow, didn't have an eye for a short pass at all, lost a few headers to Dicko who's much smaller, and just generally looked yars behind the pace.
I'm prepared to give him time as he's been out of action for a while, however I'm hoping he is solely for backup and nothing else.
a ringer for cliff byrne, talent wise,
-
Really?! I thought it was a strange game to bring him on in. Mellor on at lb and grounds into the centre would of made more sense.
That said are defensive line was all over the show so I can see why he came on. I'm sure there's more to come but he looked and played like andy todd.
would that be andy todd aged 58 ? lockwood was "agricultural " and thats being polite, we have real problems if he is a regular,
-
He was anonymous first half but better second half.
Backup to Worrall and Harkins for the rest of the season though.
then gone i hope, he is truly dreadful, not pace, no tricks, cant cross it, and worst of all, he is frightened of the physical side of things,
-
Not sure which part of that is the most bollocks, all just blends into one.
you started it, clown,

Danny Haynes is available from notts county kind of selfish striker that could get on the end of things....could be worth a loan bid
whats he done ?

Sell Tarky for 400k, get Mills and tarky back on loan until end of season. Then make Mills permanent in summer when burnley dont want him.
can we afford mills on a permanent deal, wages will be an issue ?
-
We've got a new long term contract for the manager to pay for, a new stand to pay for, no doubt a payoff for Rooney as well - Corney will be happy to sell any player who we can get money for.
a payoff for rooney ? are you mad, he wanted out we didn.t force him, he got the same deal at aberdeen with a 2 year contract, thats a good reason for him to leave,
with tarky we should put it about that we won,t accept anything under say £750k and call their bluff, we could get the same offer in the summer as now, so why not hang on, tarky is a totally different proposition than taylor, he,s under 24 so we would get something from a tribunal if if went that far, its worth the gamble
-
For the sake of argument:
I would prefer Grounds as CB because then Tarky can play as right CB. Kusunga then moves to RB and we are left with the problem at left back which if LJ has lost confidence in Mellor could be filled by Connor with the result that only one player is out of position rather than the three we started with on Saturday.
Smith and Wes have to have the central midfield with Philli and Worrall as our wide men. I would put either JCH (1st choice) or Mac up front with Harkins as our number 10.
4 4 1 1 is my order of the day. I want to see if Harkins can do what he did on the left wing from that position as well.
kusunga not a right back, grounds not a centre back, brown not a left back, we ended up with the right back 4 not the tripe you want us to go with, leave harkins where he finished the game, are you happy with going back to the rubbish we have seen for months or do you want more of the second half, glad your not the manager, you would try oxley up front !!!!
-
It meant LJ could rectify his cluster-:censored: of putting Korey Smith at RB; and having Harkins in CM.
Fair play to the manager mind, big balls to admit you got it wrong and do something about it so soon.
JCH gave us an outlet up front. Smith going into the middle, where he is undoubtably best, meant ee had a foothold in the game again, Connor Brown into RB meant a player playing in that position who actually plays that position; and moving Harkins the feck out of the middle and into an area where he could actually play his natural game...
Totally wrong selections today.
But you know what, fair play - he sorted it out as soon as he could.
Tough on Philly and Dayton, but each was the right call - once it was apparent it was a :censored:ing disaster...
smith also played further up the pitch than all season, a message there i think,
-
taking philliskirk off gave us a presence upfront with JCH coming on, and with Dayton coming off it allowed korey smith to get back into his natural CM role, Connor brown at RB and that left us 4-42 with Harkins and Worral being the wingers
yes we all know that but dayton was garbage again, cant see a way back for him unless we don.t want to win games, lightweight, cant beat an egg, can,t cross the ball, it was a toss up philly or mac to come off , we need some sort of physical presence up top, i thought that mac was poor today,
-
IMO it shows the overall opinion of a player is not good when every time he does something right or has a decent 45mins he gets his own thread. Note: only 45 mins each time
not forgotten the mare he had against shrewsbury, he needs to play flat out like yesterday,
-
No way Dayton should be anywhere near that team - Harkins and Worrall showed him what a wide man should be doing.
taxi for dayton ? he is a poor mans joe colbeck,

Having given this a bit more thought, I wonder how much of a "reward" this contract is for LJ?
It seems ludicrous to give him an improved contract on the basis of team performance.
Yes, the contract is for a longer period and might even include a pay-rise, but I would imagine there would be a lot more "ifs", "buts" and "maybes" in the new contract, that weren't there in his previous contract.
Maybe, in fact, it is completely the opposite of a reward and the club are covering their backside as they have an inkling we could go down and we might need to get rid of the manager sooner than thought.
The penny's dropped. Maybe this isn't as mental as it seems at first glance...
so its a punishment then ? what a load of old tosh,
-
Wouldn't want him anyway.
yes you prefer kirk millar ?
-
Calm down, have you forgotten what the line of discussion was;
1. If we get relegated will LJ still be in charge in August
2. Reply from me was YES.
3. Your reply was 'only because SC cannot afford to sack him!'
4. My reply was put away your crystal ball, You have no idea what SC would do or say, in that hypothetical situation.
5. See above-trying to start a new discussion;
You see my Mrs does try that also, so I do have previous!
Stick to the process or start a new argument and I will gladly clarify things for you!
so why was it not a good idea to wait till the season ends ? unless manure are sniffing round LJ ?
-
RUBBISH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Now you have a bloody crystal ball to predict SC's decision and reasons and/or explanation, do you?
using the same crystal ball as you , but not using my rose coloured speks,
please explain why it was a good decision to offer this contract now and not at the end of the season when we will have a clearer idea of where we are .

School exam question;
"What started World War 2"

-
YES
because we cant afford to get rid , will be the line, lets hope it isn,t so

We will all always have a differing opinion on everything latics that's just nature, whilst I agree the timing is a suprise due to recent results I think it's unfair to compare Lj and dickov
I feel that Lj came in clearly is well respected within the game for his coaching ability and the depth of his analysis, he came in looking at the club as a whole wants to change the whole ethos of the club and move us forward, this season is purely about staying in the division and the squad maturing ready to push on next year and that was always the number one aim this season regardless what anyone says. When the stand is up and we have more revenue coming in and maybe a slightly bigger budget we can then launch a assault on the play offs.
That's how I see it anyway probably all wrong like but that's just my view.
Weather or not we agree on the deal for the manager lets continue to support the team and back the manager. See what happens for the rest of the transfer window and strap in and try to enjoy what am sure will be a bumpy ride towards safety
clearly well respected in the game for his coaching ability ? by who ? when was he a coach ? for how long ? he will be judged on wether he keeps us up and nothing else, they will be screaming for his head if we do go down,
-
Kane would be a much-needed good signing who I'm sure would score goals but I would've hoped for a more permanent addition to the squad having lost 4 contracted players already - Lanzoni, Schmeltz, Rooney and M******. These have been replaced by 2 loanees and Lockwood.
It's going to be difficult to keep the balance between squad stability looking onwards towards next season and comfortably avoiding relegation this season but I feel as though, with some obvious summer departures and the emphasis on loanees recently, we might just be back where we started in terms of a huge player turnaround during the off-season.
Ideally, if they're good enough, we'll sign Harkins and Worrall permanently when their loan expires but I can't help but think that despite us definitely needing strong reinforcements to achieve the main goal of staying up, we're in the process sacrificing the aim to have continuity to build upon from this season to the next.
we have continuity, we are continuing to get rid of players on contracts and replacing them with loanees, , are are doing it more and more, it will end in tears
-
First reaction. WTF has he done to derseve that.
2nd reaction. Well at least there's some sort of strategy in place for the long term of the club.
I think it could be a good move in the end but might take a couple of years to come to fruition
its not a reward for success is it, don.t understand the reasoning behind it, keep us up and then do it,
-
We've got plenty of the squad on 2 year contracts.
They are mostly :censored:, but at least they are here for 2 years.
l haven.t had a :censored: for 2 years
