The RB position is an enduring mystery to me. Sachdev clearly has promise but it's been a problem position for two years now, might be 5/6 years since we had anyone really decent in the position. Perhaps it's harder to play than it looks. I often think when I'm watching the PL that even really highly regarded full backs often look the weakest player on their team, perhaps it is harder than it looks.

I think this is highlighted because we do not have a good right midfield player who produces good crosses, so highlights the RB who we want to be a good defender and a good crosser of the ball, if we had one of these he would soon be playing at a higher level.

    I assume you didn't go today ?

It was as bad if not worse than anything seen under Unsworth.

Almost everyone who went says it was shocking from the players and management team.

if these starting  players and tactics are used in the next home game I predict another poor performance and a loss.

Change it to a more attacking  dynamic passing team and it might help.

Stop being so negative all the time, attacking, dynamic football great cliche buzz words, you need the players to do that failing that you need to find a way to win games with the players at your disposal, the form table suggests he is doing a good job.

When MM took over from Unsworth the majority of supporters would of been estatic to reach the play offs, what has changed?

  3. 3rd in the form table since MM took over, whilst having to do a rebuild of the team, he constatly talks about standards and consistency this takes time especially with an evolving squad.

We lose one game and the overreaction is staggering questioning tatics, team selection, many factors will be considered when selecting the team, every game he will be still learning what limitations we have, he will be working towards a plan to fix that.

    In MM we trust KTF.

  4. The only focus should be getting in to the play offs and giving ourselves the best possible oppurtunity of getting back to the football league as soon as possible.

MM is doing an excellent job with the squad he inherited, he will have assesed the squad by now and knows the positions he wants to improve, this will take time time with plenty going out and coming in, KTF.

I’ve just realised something- given we aren’t winning the league. We need to finish no higher than 6th, that way both games before Wembley are away from home. . .  where we excel. I wouldn’t fancy us against anyone in the playoffs in a home tie.

It is envisaged we will bring in further additions so the home form will change, hopefully creating a momentum going in to the play offs, MM is getting the the best out of the squad at his disposale 👏

Gardner played 18 times in the league last season. 13 of those appearances were pre the turn of the year, when we were dreadful, with the final 5 of those seeing 4 defeats and one draw. In 2023, when our form turned around, he played the full 90 once, in the 2-2 home draw with Gateshead.

He should be released, not dropped into the starting lineup.

If that is the case put him on gardening leave.

  7. A few questions on DU

Why did we start the game so languid last night after a 5-1 victory is this bad preparation?

The balance of the team is woeful no width no overlapping full-backs, consequently crosses being put in from 30 or 40 yards out, so easily defended.

Centre midfield totally ineffective, baffling why Gardner has not been brought on.

Tactics it was clear from the kick-off last night that things needed changing, only conclusion can be DU has not got the tactical awareness to adapt in game.

Freeman is clearly not fit why was this not addressed pre-season?

Has DU improved any of our players?

    Does DU motivate our players?

We cannot judge the forwards as the service to them is dire.

The squad is not fit for purpose to win the league i think we can already forget that.

In DU interview he is doing himself no favours we had enough chances to win the game, and he is delusional.

Lots of questions time is running out surely!

If people aren't buying them after signing an Altrincham superstar who was released by Crewe a year ago, then the fanbase truly don't deserve a football club...

Agreed with Lee a signing of intent, I think the league will have a cheeky eye on us now, will we beat the Wrexham points tally is the question?

No right this it how it works Kitching Overlaps and can provide a cross whereas Tollitt can cut inside and shoot that gives a full back all kinds of problems both ways look at the goal yesterday the opposing defender gets dragged to the overlapping run it gives Tollit the space to pick his spot.

If we get Reid/Abraham on the right cutting in on their left foot to shoot while having an overlapping right full back to provide crosses to then we will shit teams on the flanks and goals will flow.

If you have a left footed left winger on one side and a right footed right Winger on the other side then any sensible full back will just show them onto their weaker foot and will nullify the threat.

I know how it works i presume you have your coaching badges to be this patronising?

Stick to Subbuteo it might work best for you there.

You do know Tollitt’s game is him cutting in and getting a shot away on his right foot. Why would we move him

Yes i do, what will yield more goals a wide player cutting in or a wide player whipping a cross in for the forwards we have now?

A attack with pace and a wide player whipping a cross in is hard to defend especially with the pace we have upfront, time to utilise that to it's maximum.

Colclough has a nominal release fee for football league club but substantial one for another conference team.

Chose to stay in the summer at Alty and they are flying and a good playoff chance if they keep their loanees at Christmas.

He’s miles better than Tollitt but doesn’t make sense to sign him unless he’s going to play him on the right but then if you’re Colclough why move to a team where you won’t play your favoured position?

    Move Tollit to the right.

I reckon he need to win two out of the next three, notwithstanding he's a Royle appointment and in many respects sacking him takes us back to square one. We have a run of four tricky fixtures after the next three so without a mini run to bolster him it could add up to a long, long dispiriting run of results.

Can he really survive a defeat at home to Peterborough Sports?

Hogwash how does it take us back to square one if we sack him it is impossible to have a worse record than DU has i am bamboozled by this thinking!

Thought I’d mark the players out of 10…..

Norman; None of the goals were his fault but he has mastered the art of overhitting pointless kicks out of play on both side of the pitch….still, congratulations to Magnus..tonight’s MOM with a superb 4/10

Okagbue; ..been trying to work out if his name is an anagram of “er, ok, bye!” It isn’t but we should say ‘bye 1/10

McGahey; Looks like a pub player, plays like a pub player but not good enough to get a start in most pub teams so has dropped down to our level 1/10

Sheron; Captain not so fantastic, had his defensive line and midfield perfectly drilled in the new Oldham Athletic “sieve” formation 2/10

Wellens; I assume he was adopted because there is no Wellens DNA in there…either that or it has skipped a generation and we should sign his unborn Son 2/10

Threlkeld; Looks like a Viking plays like a ….nah, nothing rhymes. He’s just not very good 2/10

Stobbs; I felt our fans may have been a tad unfair on him so decided to really watch him during tonight’s match….had to stop though after 15 mins because it was hurting my eyes. 1/10 (should probably be 0 but I gave him one of Fondop’)

Roberts; Managed to help create the largest gap between our defence and midfield and our forward line (or Fondop’ head as we call our forward line) 2/10

Cooper; I can’t really think of anything to say about him tbh other than the above 2/10

Fondop; He is the focal point of all our attacks…well, to the extent that we lump the ball up to him and he flicks it on for Owen Doyle to run in behind and finish…it’s a genius plan, lacking only one thing….Owen Doyle 2/10 (would have got 3 marks for effort but I docked him 1 for nearly getting sent off at the end…he should have been but the Ref was feeling sorry for us)

Tollit; He looked lively at Torquay when I first saw him but is so lightweight that he makes DKD look like Sean Gregan 2/10

    Subs

McGlynn; Almost the dream start, first touch he glides past two defenders and storms forward with only the keeper to beat and the Woking defenders desperately pursuing him, he ignores the Latics player to his right and calmly scuffs the ball at snails pace ten yards wide of the post….after that he fitted in perfectly and did almost nothing…he’s probably checking what day he goes back to Burnley, not long Joe, don’t worry lad. 1/10 that initial touch was worth the 1

Clarke; Came on to steady the ship after McGahey was hauled off for giving away the 3rd goal. With Clarke on we looked rock solid at the back…….nah, only kidding, it was worse of-course 1/10

Burgess; Not sure if he touched the ball but then again he was only on the pitch for 20 mins 2/10

Sheridan; People suggesting he should retire…I think he already has without telling anyone officially 0/10

Fans; We went to a league game on a wet Tuesday night in fucking Woking and got battered. Beautifully observed the 1 minutes silence for the Queen and then impressively maintained it for the remaining 90 minutes!

    250/1950

Excellent observations so would you say we have room for improvement?
