  1. Great. We are allowed rare access to a club's books, looking at turnover of millions, sharing infornmation that is denied to most supporters , and there's posts about SC saying pies instead of catering plus other income being affected by postponement.

you'd like to say it's "unbelievable" but, sadly, it isn't.

re: the comments about them not making money out of OAFC - what the hell's wrong with them ultimately making money out of it as long as they leave us in a better state than they found us???

  2. don't hate mancs as I pretty much am one.

if Manchester had a beach it would be the worlds greatest city

Failsworth is Manchester & is the last place in "Oldham" i'd want a new stadium to be

driving down Oldham Rd (therein lies another distinction - is it Oldham Rd or Manchester Rd?? or does it depend which way you're going?) as you pass the end of Broadway you can see the City Centre skyline right in front of you - it's Manchester.

but I want a new stadium, wherever it is.

    confused,

    Royton

  3. I think I've earned enough goodwill on this site over the last three years to show this is not an attempt at fishing.

I would like to hear from those who oppose the Failsworth moved based on it being "in Manchester" and why the Manchester factor is the sticking point.

I don't care about "we're Oldham we should be in Oldham" as that's an explanation in itself, I want to know why people who consider themselves Oldhamers hate those who they consider Mancs.

Please be constructive and not gratuitously inflammatory, ta.

tribalism. people from one town don't/pretend they don't like people from the next town.

    simple.

have you seriously never come across this phenomenon before?

are you going to start a new job any time soon?

  4. which raises the question, could a good strong leadership in oldham help to change our fortunes? (not just with support for stadium)

until people start voting based on policies rather than "coz me dad always voted for them" that's never gonna happen.

that aside, who do I vote for this time round to get "strong leadership"?? i've no idea but doubt there's even such an option.

step 1 for me in improving this town one iota would be to stop frittering away the remainder of each years council tax on stuff that doesn't need doing & use it to incentivise companies to open offices/factories/call centres/shops here.

or would that be too simple?

  5. There was racist graffiti in the subway under Chadderton Way last time i went through. i've also seen stuff along Broadway. Unfortunately it's not that uncommon, there's a fair bit of it in the part of Liverpool where i used to live (i haven't seen any where i live now in Toxteth, unsurprisingly).

And unfortunately people's homes do get attacked - i could be wrong but wasn't one of the things that led up to the riots Stoke 'fans' putting in windows in Westwood?
