  1. Whats the rush?

2 weeks to go yet, there is no point in getting people in for the sake of numbers, hopefully shez is making sure these targets are right for the team to push on this season, if we did get someone right away and he wasnt up to scratch then knives will be out again, be patient and trust in shez.

although we are incosistent at the moment, i honestly belive if we diont make playoffs this season, we will achieve automatic next season, we have a young team still learning and a few of the right faces at the right time will see us kick on.

Just because Doncaster splash the cash doesn't mean they are loaded it all depends how much the owners are willing to self fund, just like any other football club. they only get 4000/5000 home fans just like us. I have no doubt that TTA would be willing se loose even more money if we were promoted. Unless Donny have a money tree in their back yard????

  2. True....but there's a but....a big one....I hope if Shez misses out on the ones he wants, that he actually gambles this Jan. And not sit on his hands like he did last season saying "we can't get who we want." I understand that he doesn't just want to go for anyone but he'll have to roll the dice this time and gamble, like Scunny did with Beckford. I don't like loanees.....just like I wanted us to push a bit harder to keep Wellens than go for 6mths with KK and have the problem we have now. BUT.....if we can't get that permenant player in now, then he'll have to take on a young kid or a lower league journeyman and hope he does the biz. If it doesn't, we just hold our hands up and say, that's the way it was. We need bodies...simple as that...it was 12mths ago but Shez waited far too long (well into March) and it cost us IMO. It ain't easy, I know. But I hope he learned from last January and his hesitations.

See this is what is worrying me, we have quality youth trying their best week in week out while Ricketts is still taking a wage from the club. A deal with Walsall that I am not sure will come off, while our young players are getting paid peanuts and could be tempted by a move away. If we are willing to pay 100/200k out for Clarke and KK, there is obviously cash on the table. Are we crazy not trying to tie up Trotman, or is itjust me? 500k, so what that could be made in a week if get past Huddesfield and get a decent draw, TV, prize money etc

  3. Where is all this cover at centre half people are talking about?

Thompson - Injured, god knows how long, would need games if he did get fit

Gregan - Quality but could be out until march, then needs to gert fit

Stam - Quality at this level, but when is the next injury, lets be honest

Hazell - Looks a great signing

If we sold Trotman, where is the decent cover?

Trotman cant be on more than 500 quid PW, if we cant get him tied up, it would be very sad. He is a young lad who isn't putting a foot wrong at the moment, the likes of him, Eardley, Taylor, Smalley etc should be rewarded imo because they are the future of our football club and should be kept for as long as possible. 500k is a decent fee, but that could be made in a week if we get past Huddersfield next week, so puts things into priority. Nobody should be getting on the backs of these kids, they are quality players, I for one are proud of.

    COME ON PLAY THE GAME!

  4. Without complaining, is anyone else getting a little nervous about the lack of movement in the transfer window?

All the rumours suggest other clubs are looking at Eardley, Trotman, Hughes, I think we could cover Eardley, although I would be very unhappy to see Trotman or Hughes go. With the injuries we have at centre half and the likelyhood of Stam picking something up I think it would be foolish, get him signed up on a 2 year deal. I understand the Porter situation, but do we know if Trotman had been offered an extension, its mid January FFS?

I love shez, but I am concerned that he doesnt have the contacts in the transfer market. Why do we keep missing out on players, and its very quiet at the club!!!! Shez has put preassure on himself by saying we will have new faces by the weekend, not looking that way at the moment, even the Chronicle of nonesence isnt leaking our targets, do we have any? Not complainng just want your thoughts boys...... B)

  5. Some great comments there.

Why would anyone want to sell Trotman. I agree, I would rather sell Eardley, Hazell and Lomax can play there. We should be signing Trotman on a long term deal not trying to off load our young talent. You sell Trotman and then Stam has another injury blow, no Gregan or Thompson!!!! Have a think about it boys. Plus he has been the most consistant CH over the past 3 months.

  6. The discussion is not about IF we can afford it just is the money being well spent.£200K is a big gamble

LL is talking abot Chris Killen , the last big money we spent 5 years ago

Honestly you relly need to keep up with what is being posted and what is being actually quoted.

........and more to the point stop taking it personal , it's a discussion with no malice or personal vendetta towards you.

What price can you put on goals, the way I see it we would have 3 strong strikers if we signed Clarke. And you could use all three at the same time with Davies drifting wide. If we loose a striker through injury we are in the kids and thats not fair to them. Smalley and Wolfenden need time, and throwing them in all the time is no good for their development

SIGN HIM UP - Typical League one defenders nightmare, especially when you have the pace of Davies and the skill of Hughes to worry about too!!

  7. i wanted him here in the summer, yeah we didnt see the best he had to offer, but we very rarley do on month loans, but he has great potential.

just think they need to work on his fitness a little and get him trimmer, then he could be a very good player for us.

he isnt the fastest striker out there, but he does get into some great positions.

A few of factors to consider......

1 - He is much fitter than when he was here (and lets be honest he did a good job)

2 - A fit Leon Clarke has scored lots of goals at Southend, and confidence will be high

3 - He will give us options, Davies can very easilly go on the right

4 - I have herd that Hughes could need another op, so will give us options.

5 - Has he played with Davies at Wolves???

All in all I think he is a power house with more plusses than negatives. Just think we need a creative midfielder and hope we dont blow the budget we have???

  8. Hmm...I was sure that I had read that the match was to be played on the 26th / 27th of February and thought that it seemed a long way away!

    I stand positively corrected!

The Terriers support has been poor all season, and like many teams they will travel if they are winning. I would not expect them to bring more then 3000 TBH 9500/10000 max for the game. Didnt they only take 94 fans to Tranmere on a friday night, or was the rumor about a printing error correct?

This definately a game we can win, they are pretty inconsistent, and we are cagey at home (due to the moaning brigade) so sould be a good game. Last 16 here we come LOL LOL LOL!

  9. Tend to agree. But the people who didn't go to Leeds weren't the hardcore. Maybe a few didn't bother but I don;t reckon we would have taken above 2,500 on a New Years day at £25 a chuck if the Everton game wasn't the Saturday after. The glory hunters didn't make a choice. Leeds never entered their head.

I chose Leeds over Everton for a few reasons and I don't regret it.

Will we have 5551 home fans in attendance on Saturday? Nope, probably 4,700 and I dare say a fair few of them didn't even go to Everton.

Normal prices against Udders will not see us sell 9000 tickets let alone 10,500 I am afraid.

    9000 fans @ £15 is better than 7000 @ £18

    KOTK

Dont grt me wrong it was great to see he large numbers at Everton, however I tend to agree with KOTK about the brighton game on Saturday. The guy behind me thought Killen still played for us  But it is obvious we have the numbers if we are successful, but yet its the die hards that are left home and away on most occasions.

Would be nice to see an improved gate against brighton, with a little less moaning!!!

  10. Hello from Singapore airport, free internet, sorted!

Anyway, just heard the result, no problems with this a 0-0 draw against Forest is a result. Obviously not at the game but reading around seems a fair result to me. Hopefully we can crack on and beat Warsaw and then give Leeds a real good game.

By the way we have been playing, I have no problems predicting a playoff spot if we get the right results over the next few games. The team seem to have really gelled latley, 11 games unbeaten now and fresh off a five game winning streak, its looking better.

Not hearing cries of Shez out now are we

Will try and keep as up to date as possible,

    keep the faith

Firstly, lets be honest we are in pretty good form but we need to be more ruthless at home. We had chance to turn the screw today and for ten min we upped the tempo but then took the foot off the gas. Like I said on the other thread, Swansea are the only team this season that look really impressive. This league is wide open and lots of points will be dropped. There were quite a few fickle fans in the ground today, you know the kind, three or four times a seson brigade. The same ones who have got their Everton ticket!!! Eardley got slated by a few round me, he was poor today but you wont hear me screaming it from the stands, it doesnt help anyone. Three points on Saturday will set us up nicely for the two big games ahead, but Walsall are no mugs and with the aded spice or Rickets, who knows what will happen.........

  11. Betsy was infuriating, everyone knew technically he was a class above but often he didn't want it enough. A bit like Liddell............ :tongue1:

Besty also was forced to play upfront for most of his Latics career, everyone knew he was a wide player. He moved onto Wycome/Brizzle and played on the right and was fantastic. I would have him back tomorrow. Him amd taylor on the flancs would be fantastic. B)

  12. I can see it now. Forgotten man Andy Liddell comes off the bench in extra time and scores the winning penalty at Wembley at the end of the Play-off Final, with what proves to be his last kick for the Club. Fans place him up there with Neil Redfearn in legendary status.

Many doubting fans honour their promises to show their arses on the Town Hall steps!

Diego, I like Liddell. Just think this will be his last season with us. I hope you are right.

  13. True, but at least we'll see some money from the Everton match.

Listen, if we take over 2000 to leeds, I think that is respectable!!! I think it will be more like 2500, which would be great. We over expect on and off the pitch sometimes. You are looking at nearly £150 in tickets over xmas if you dont have a season ticket, thats without your transport or beer!!! Dont get me wronge I have got mine, but it is alot of money for some people. I am more concerned about the 3900 at home to Crewe????

  14. Liddels contract finishes at the end of the season, and I would guess he is one of the high earners, so maybe will free up some room on the wage bill?

No disrespect to liddell or gregan, on their day both fantastic players but we have started getting ourselves out of the position we were in in the league without them in the team, so not exactly a huge blow, but still a blow nevertheless.

Nevertheless, still hope he is fit asap small squad cost us big time last season

Think you can say that about Liddell but Gregan would still be in my back four. I wouldn't be supprised if Liddell doesn't play again this season. Think he is on his last legs TBH.

  15. Thats an open invite for anybody passing stakehill at that time  (so if anybody wants a lie in and spend a bit of quality time with the wife/girlfriend i'm your man)

Which ever way you look at it, chrismas is an expensive time. If we take 2000+ to leeds and 4000+ to everton within a week, its a bloody good turn out. We are not a big club and that if fantastic support. Dont forget Boxing day, another boozy day out. Its a disgrace to charge £24 at leeds, but that football.

    Onwards and upwards!
