  1. That's me in the picture holding the flag, I was with my two daughters and the lad you presumed was my son was my eldest daughters boyfriend. I was only too happy to help, I did know what you guys were doing with the flag but was on route to finding somewhere to sit and eat so didn't really have time to chat. Good write up though.

  2. Can't say but trust me on this. I'm as disappointed as anyone. Too big a gap on salary etc

I'm not sure on this, but if Dowie's son tweets are to be believed that he was interested in the job, as well as him being contacted by SC, then surely the gap in wages can't be that big. You would imagine that if Dowie was initially interested in the job he would know the kind of salaries expected at our level, unless of course SC really does pay peanuts.

  3. Think I passed this now I think back, I just carried on seeing as the professional were there and I didn't see what was going on (and I couldn't do all that much anyway). Very sad news.

Yeah pretty much the same, I could see a few Everton fans a couple of them in tears so I knew it was serious, it was my daughter that said she could see paramedics doing cpr. We just left nothing we could have done

  4. They can conquer who believe they can.

    Virgil (70BC - 19BC)

Of course they can, but even if they dont lets use this as a catalyst to move the club forward. For too long the club has shown it's in deline rather than on the up. With a new stand earmarked, get the key players tied down, a lick of paint a new bloody scoreboard (even a reconditioned one would do :laught30: ). Then lets get the belief back amongst the supporters, for quite a few years in league 1 we got gates between 5k-6k on a regular basis, always had a belief that maybe just maybe this could be our year. For me and many others that belief got lost, attendances plummeted as a result. IMO it's just not the product on the pitch that needs to be put right but the supporters and more importantly the stayaways need to see the whole club is on the up.

  5. We've done fantastic so far this season, to be in the 5th round and have the scalps of Liverpool and Forest to our name. Managing to get a replay v Everton was a fantastic achievement in itself. Most of us realised Everton was going to be a tougher proposition to Liverpool. Everton are/were far less likely to succumb to bullying tactics, getting a draw at home is one thing, doing it in Everton's backyard when they themselves can see a potential very winable home fixture against the plastics in the next round and a real prospect of at least getting to the semi's is another.

Whatever the result the cup run re-ignites mine and others love for latics, lets not waste this opportunity. For too long crowds have been falling when they see the product on the pitch decline along with the stadium. Once you kill a supporters hope you kill the supporter.

We have the makings off a very good league 1 team, lets try not to make wholesale changes year on year, and lets keep the nucleus together. Lets try to hang onto the likes of Mvoto, Tarky, Grounds, Furman, Wes, Baxter, Croft, Smith, Bouzy/Cisak.

Hopefully manage to get this new stand planning permission granted and lets get the 1st brick layed, new scoreboard wouldn't go a miss either. Even the small things like a lick of paint on the chaddy's roof can make a difference. Lets show we're not in decline, give the supporters that hope back.

Finally TP has dont great since taking on the role of manager. However if he doesn't want it, he doesn't want it, and if it goes tits up i'd hate to lose a club legend. I hope if an appointment has to be made SC does everything he can to persuade Dowie to take on the role. I get the impression TP had a great working relationship with Dowie and from snippets of interviews it seems he has tried to implement alot of the things from when he was coaching alongside Dowie, such as letting the opposition worry about us rather than focussing too much on them.

  6. Dickov's currently in the hunt for another management job, so if he stands firmly with his beliefs that Oldham were/are a top half side, and he left us in the relegation places it doesn't look to good to any other clubs thinking of appointing him. So he changes his tune and makes it look like we were/are a team punching above our weight in league 1 and he'd done a half decent job leaving us where he did.

  7. Just got my tickets, taking my 8 year old daughter, this will be her first away game, does anyone know the best place to park near the ground, somewhere safe and easy to make a quick exit. She has school the next day and the mrs has already been questioning my judgement for taking her to such a game on a school night.

  8. I'd say existing contracts of key players, think we have a good nucleus, even though they're under performing in the league, never think it's a great idea having to make wholesale changes at the start of each season, players such as Croft, Furman, Smith, Bouzy need to be kept along with a few others

  9. According to the Sunday Times Croft's pass was a mi:censored: shot......

They said pretty much the same on tv that they thought it was a mi:censored: shot, if any premier league player played that perfectly weighted pass they'd have creamed themselves, and when it's a lower league player then they automatically assume he couldn't have meant it. Pisses me off

  10. Blackpooh spent :censored: all that season.

They were awful half the season and then clicked with a bunch of tossers (Keigan Parker and Andy Morrell up front), they :censored:ing battered us 3 times in a matter of weeks.

Anyone who thinks Grayson is a bad move wants their head testing???

People are talking Megson or Brown..............some of you seriously worry me!

    Top post my thoughts exactly
  11.

I'd need an experienced Number 2 alongside me; would you accept a Stallone / P Brown management combo then??

No sorry I don't want Brown anywhere near our club even if it meant him being employed as the cleaner, I put his managerial abilities alongside Bryan Robson, John Barnes, and Peter Reid. Seriously though there are a few good candidates out there such as Grayson, Coyle, Billy Davis doubt We'd get any of them and if not I'd sooner take a risk on a rookie rather than employ someone who managerial history is littered with failures especially considering our already close proximity to the relegation zone
