Trying to play devil's advocate and be generous to Dickov, maybe he genuinely thinks that if we beat Huddersfield it'll be the start of a successful promotion bid. He's mental if he thinks that, but it's the only logic i can imagine that could explain the team selection for a game we desperately needed to win.

Jimmy Wagg made a great point after the Dickov interview where PD said playing against 10 and 9 men wasn't easy.

 

"If playing against 10 men isn't easy, and playing against 9 men isn't easy and the referee gets to call the game off against 7 men, is it against 8 men that it finally becomes easy?"

 

For me, having a 1 or 2 man advantage for most of the game should see a landslide victory. Anything less is an issue with tactical incompetence from either the manager or the players, or a lack of skill.

then you should run them ragged, also you should have 2 free men at corners and free kicks.

Really dissapointed with Dickov's game plan after going a goal up today. We played like a Dave Penny team after scoring. No ambition and let Southampton pass pass pass just waiting for the inevitable equiliser. What made it more dissapointing was that Southampton i feel were there for the taking if we actually had a go. 2nd half and more of the same just waiting for them to take the lead sitting deeper and deeper. Then once it went 2-1 we start having a go again and Taylor nearly snatched an equaliser with a last minute header..

 

kelly did more in 10 mins than Feeney did all game. Dale was poor again as was Jones.... Positives were Furman + Mvoto

has anyone from management noticed that the midfield men and not the strikers are scoring what few goals we are getting,

thats just not right.

and until we show some pluck away from home then the home attendances will not increase.
