  1.

I dunno if they will, they will likely get most of Hulls signings who weren't recruiting badly. The competition will also be largely the scottish teams. By the second season (when Phoenix will likely actually have a rink) they will be in a position to be a bit more competitive and for the conference which I think they will do. The bigger issue is definitely Altrincham, which I am hoping Silverblades do not settle for.

The thing is about Phoenix if they ever did return to Manchester, it will still be EPL hockey run by a clique of a club that largely treats its fans like crap.

That's true, I hadn't really taken that into consideration. I don't really know how the Elite League works, will they only play teams from their conference or is it similar to the NHL where the majority of games are in conference with the odd game against the other conf?

  2. I stopped going to Phoenix because it was a ball ache to drive over to Altrincham and spend £14 to get a crap view with a dire game experience. It will be the same with Storm playing there. If and when Phoenix get a city centre rink I will go back. The only pull Storm would have is that they would be playing in a league with a higher standard of hockey, although this means that they will get destroyed all season long.

  3. So apparently the new home shirt is coming out this week (they said end of august), I haven't seen an announcement and there weren't any in Sport Direct yesterday, but I'm wondering if sports direct in town will sell a variety of Latics gear rather than just the shirts, I really wanted to get a jacket/coat of some kind. I liked the one from a couple of seasons ago but never got it. The shop in the new stand won't be around for months yet and there's nothing really on the online store, so where am I supposed to buy this stuff??

Does anyone know more than me on this, or is it just wait until we're told?

  4. New home kit is August 7th, just two days prior to the start of the season. Cutting it fine. I presume it's taken longer than usual because of the new deal with SD but still a bit late. Also until the web store is online they will only be available from SD in town. Not great for supporters who don't live in Oldham.

  5. 'We need a goal scorer'. So does everyone else, there aren't that many around and they tend to sign for clubs who will pay them. You have to try and build a team that's going to get goals as a collective rather than rely on one player and I presume that's what Johnson is aiming for. The last pure scorer we had was Hughes and that was only because no one else would stoop low enough to sign him.

  6. So does kit launch on Tuesday mean kit made available to buy on Tuesday or just that we can see it for the first time then? I haven't bought a home shirt since before the logo change but I fancy one this season, shame as I'v actually really liked the last two but got an away one last year and wasn't around the season before. At 24 this is the first season the stars have aligned to give me a schedule and financial state that allow me to buy a season ticket, so I might as well get the home shirt too.

  7. Haven't played much of this years installment but I have just started a game as Latics and as usual it's not going well. Has anyone had any success with the blues on 14? Any tips? Time was you could just sign Febian Brandy and he'd bang in 30 odd goals and get you into the championship.

  8. This thread never really got going this season did it. Well the Stars clinched the final wild card spot last night by shutting out St. Louis, which means i get to see them in the play offs for the first time in my 4 years as a fan. I'm hoping we get the Ducks rather than the Avs in the first round. Avs have been insane this season.
