  1. We all know that we need a new striker we are unlikely to get anyone that improves what we have got for 2 reasons:

1 Finance: what little budget we did have is all but spent

2 if we do go into the loan market managers are unlikely to want young players to come to a struggling Div 1 team no matter how much of a friendly caring etc club we are

  2. Winchester and Philliskirk we're running the show yet again he makes subs when we're on top and kills all momentum

We are LJs guinea pig experment and even I am surprised how quickly it has unravelled it's been :censored:ing :censored: for months but we hide behind a 10 match unbeaten run that was mostly draws anyway with very few goals. The team is devoid of leadership, belief and a will to win. The buck stops with LJ.

Preston were absolute :censored:e, jittery at the back and offered little going forward yet still won without breaking sweat....

Exactly Winchester and Philliskirk were getting a grip on the game which disappeared when they were subbed. All this Winchester can't last 90 mins is a smokescreen to keep LJs mates on the pitch.

  3. Surely there's more to life than OWTB?Leaving the premises shortly with my good lady for a amble along the Macclesfield Canal and lunch and a flagon at The Axe and Cleaver in Dunham Massey. Something I wouldn't be doing if Latics were playing, but a very agreeable alternative nonetheless.Cricket is a good cure for boredom - so I'm told.

Done the same ourselves to relieve the boredom.Walking the Cheshire Ring got as far as,Preston Brook last weekend,35 miles to go to complete 95 miles round trip.

  4. Which I think means some of the money from the big cup run went across the pond, as that would possibly be the only way the liabilities could decrease.[/quot

The liabilities didn't decrease they increased. The profit for the 18 months covered by the accounts of £284k was effectively spent on fixed assets (long term assets that are such things as land buildings, improvements to leasehold premises and plant and equipment and motor vehicles).Over £400k was spent on Fixed Assets funded in part by profit and an increase in long term bank loans, which increased by £235k.

As the company is regarded as small it only has to file Abbreviated Accounts at Companies House so information is limited, the above is about as much as you can interpret from the accounts filed.

  5. I agree.

He always wants to take a turn with the ball when running forward would be easier and more effective. And he's not alone in that.

That was his 12th goal of the season though. There's every chance he'll match Baxter's tally.

It'll be interesting to see what he can produce next year with this seasons experience and a full pre season under his belt.

Apart from score,in the first half Danny was very effective in passing the ball to Harkins, keeping him in the game and a threat, so often he doesn't get the ball and can be isolated.
  6. think Simons word were he would hand over the reigns to the fans didnt hear the trust mentioned, think if it did come to that a new body should be set up independant to barrys old boys club.

I've never had any dealings with the Trust, not sure whether it does a good job or not, from what I know if I want to take an active part in it I would be welcome to do so. I think it is unfair to call it Barry's old boys club. Any other so called independent body would no doubt be tarred with the same brush by a proportion of us circling on the outside.

  7. Not as much as I remember his unplayable display at Forest, his two goals against Liverpool, his last minute equaliser against Everton, his winner against Bury, his winner against Yeovil and his goal against Crawley...

That's the spirit better than the negative claptrap about his miss against Crewe which I don't remember, but I remember the above.

  8. It certainly feels like we are being run by the administrators at the minute....being stripped of the majority of our assets to repay money outstanding (Developing some of the BP Land, selling Tarkowski and Baxter, pocketing FA Cup money, Appointing cheap options in terms of playing staff, management and coaches).

This will probably be defended by the fact that money was turned down for Korey Smith in Jan. However, I imagine we sold what we felt we could get away with to just about retain our place in this division next year... and losing Smith for £100k was probably too big a risk even for Corney as being relegated would cost us more than that.

I do get the opinion that we gave up on this season in November and it was a matter of consolidating our position in the league but soaking up cash from every opportunity...

I have said for several years that Simon Corney is the administrator protecting the position of TTA.

  9. The management of the squad ,players In and out, during the season is illogical from a playing point of view.it strikes me that other financial pressures are lurking in the background, is it the stand and/or the investor loan repayments are taking priority?

We moan about LJ ,Simon,Barry etc. but We have a Chief Executive who never puts his head above the parapet. What is his role in all this? Is he really just the Club Accountant and Chief Executive in name ?what responsibility does he have for what goes on ?

  10. This is not about LJ or any other manager that we employ it is about a hand to mouth existence with other priorities in terms of strategic finance that are above investing in a credible team.bring Ferguson or Mourinho in and things would not be significantly different.Oldham has dwindling support, a population unwilling to get behind a football team and owner/owners that got into something that has backfired, trying to extricate themselves from the mess in a dignified manner.

  11. So what of the Tommy Wright effect ,short lived I would say. Perhaps new ideas at this stage of the season is like saying ok lads 3/4 through the season so here are some new ideas and back to the drawing board. The players will now be confused as hell. these changes should be made in the pre-season not when the goalkeeping coach gets a job in the Middle East. What sort of a strategy is that?
