  1. What feckin use is £200k?

What's the point of a 5 year contract and then let him go for peanuts? Isn't the point of a long term deal is to hold out for a better deal?

Surely the correct strategy would have been to play him in every game until January, let him bang a few goals to raise his profile and value, and then see if we could get £500k in January? Couldn't the money men have held out for 5 months to get a better return??

    :ranting::ranting::ranting:

    totally agree.........but with alan `don`t panic` hardy as our main negotiation man.............no chance........never has happened.........never will !!!!!!!

  2. Taylor, Smalley, Colbeck, Millar and McGrath played wide the other night - do we really need another winger? Although I except Taylor's a crocked tart that will be found out and shipped out by Dickov imo, Smalley see Taylor, Colbeck not been given a proper chance. Millar and McGrath are kids - I think it rather than bringing in a new winger we need the players we have to grow some bollocks and start to (1) Earn their wages (2) Achieve a modicum of their potential

    .......good one.

  3. first of all, as i have posted many times both on here and on the old m.board.......i always have, and always will be, pro standing at footy grounds....... wether it be for a few hundred, or a few thousand, if that`s what you wanna do at your fav footy teams ground you should have a right to do it.

although this govt report is predictable in it`s response, it still riles me to not be given a choice in this so called `democratic country`......it`s dictatorial and a load of hypocritical, nanny state bollox.

  4. Ok, I appreciate that historical statistics can't be 100% relied upon to predict the future but this is quite eye-opening.

We've only scored first in 12 league games out of 36 this season. A pretty poor record I'm sure everyone will agree.

However, out of those 12 games we have won 10 and drawn 2, with no defeats.

If ever there was a reason to get behind the team straight from the kick-off, this is it.

nice one johnny........ i wonder if dangerous dave has clicked to this yet ???

probably not........as it has an unwelcome tendency to scupper his all out containment plans !!!

  5. Sadly i'm coming to the same conclusion, he got it so, so so wrong today. Tuesday was awful, last Saturday mistakes or not was woeful. Orient had their best strikers on the bench for some reason (MCgleish and Jarvis) and Exeter was terrible. He's the luckiest twit with an 'a' alive,. HE WILL NOT GET US THE FOUR WINS WE NEED!

in addition............ i have lost count now of the amount of times this season were we have had a negative result , and on the same weekend, the so called sh-ite around us have cocked their result up as well.

in this sense, he has been very lucky indeed on at least 5 occasions..........we could so easily have been in even more deeeeep she-ite than we are now.

just coz we`re latics, we do not have a divine right to stay up........penny may well prove the this point to be true!!!.

  6. There is only one flaw in your conspiracy theory.

Where was the long queue of Internaional businesses when the TTA were openly touting take over the development of Boundary Park, to provide funds to move to Failsworth.

This was before the biggest Recession in history, when the country nay the world would ahve been awash with money.

The TTA would have snatched the hand off anyone who was prepared to give a "wedge" of money so they could build Failsworth.

I did not think I woulld still have to do it, I was going to change my signature, but I refer the honourable gentleman the anser that has been given many times. It's on my signature.

the point is that tta`s will and can afford to sit tight for as long as it takes.....they have tried to capitalise a on couple of occasions but cocked up their timing badly and/or were hindered by o.m.b.c who have always wanted to get their dirty little mits on it.

if you truly beleive your own signature to be the gospel according to simon corney then you have been easily taken in my friend.

no-one in their right mind would `honestly` p*ss that much money against the wall and be so angelic about it........think about it???

  7. Consrpiricy theory No34. ... Elk mill retail extension. FFS

you`ll see in time.........you can`t now, but you will.

try reading the original post again, but this time with your pure `business head` on.

it is a fact not conspiracy, unless of course you are one of far too many tics who truly believe that tta`s are the purest of purest trio who joined us only to spread their infinite love and charitableness to all connected to b.park forever and ever??

    no....i knew you wasn`t !!

  8. I doubt that, I can't see many Multinational brands clammering to move into Oldham.

The town is on it's knees!

don`t you see??...........the whole value of the site is the fact it`s not `in oldham`........it`s perfectly connected to millions of people within a half hour or less journey by car.

it will happen........and our club will just `tick over` in the meantime.

  9. assuming tta`s own B.park and it`s surrounds......

ok , tricky at the moment given todays economy, but either way you look at it, the boundary park site continues to have what tta`s could clearly see it had from the off, huge money making potential.

whoever owns it, it is patently clear that if they play their cards right and keep the football team who occupy it ticking over for long enough, there is at some point a huge wedge to be made out of what is the first thing you see as you leave the A627(m), which just happens to be a mere stonesthrow in length before connecting directly to the most significant motorway artery in the whole north west.

i for one remain sceptical and realistic as to what the "long haul" motives of tta`s actually mean in real business terms.

many of `the faithful` may gratefully interpret this to mean `our saviours are doing what they do first and foremost for the us the fans and the club`.

although i think this is partly true, i personally do not think that such a nice sentiment is the top of their list in terms of `true motive`.

i certainly don`t think keeping our `spiritual home` where it is, matters to them in any way, unless of course, another way to realise it`s full real estate value in it`s present location presents itself again( which could still happen).

this post is an attempt to highlight what i believe to be the most significant factor which dictates all present day issues affecting our beloved club since tta`s took over.

it is the unique location of our clubs ground that keeps tta`s where they are.

    a proper `dangly carrot` for any multi-millionare that one.

    anyone get my drift ??

  10. As most people will be aware, Boundary Park is not an asset of the football club and Tangible assets in total are only approximately £700k. This mainly comprises of buildings and equipment.

excellent work lads.....your efforts and time are much appreciated.

is it possible to find out/reveal exactly who or what our beloved boundary park now belongs to??

  11. although i`m oldham born and bred...... for over twenty years i`ve kept close with several friends in failsworth .......and i`ve met many friends of there`s from the nearby area/s , woodhouses/moston/newton heath/miles platting....etc.........and in my humble experience, geography aside, as the cliche goes, they are no different to you or me ........it`s true !!

but you would be very hard pushed to find one of them who even remotely thinks of themselves as anything other than `mancunian`.

example : whilst we in oldham go `up town` ie: into oldham town centre........they as failsworth/mancunians go `into town` ie: into manchester....it`s just the way it is.....it`s a fact.

it`s a whole different mindset just past where the owd roxy used to be.......the accent difference and culture change within a fifty yard stretch of when hollinwood turns into `failswurf` is living proof of it!!!.

as far as the majority of folk i`ve met there are concerned, they are from failswurf in manchestaw.... `end of` for them.

it is this little bell which most latics fans can clearly hear at some level of consciousness......and given the above, it just isn`t ringing right regarding the proposed stadium move.

  12. im ecstatically underwhelmed

goodwin was already here so we have brought one in on an emergency loan....great

obviously dodgy dave is delighted to have got his targets, just a shame the owners have chosen not to back him admirably in bringing in quality....still there is always the loan system after 7 days right.

daring dave`s `target area` is obviously very narrow still.......... all he seems to see is old familiars..........it`s like he doen`t have much of any other clue as to what`s out there ??

  13. The football club we consider to be ours and the other 71 Football League clubs are different from other forms of entertainment. The clubs are owned and managed by people who come and go, but they only survive on the loyalty of their supporters and the financial assistance from their owners. Success on the pitch comes to only about 11 of the 72 clubs each season and the supporters of the unsuccessful clubs are expected to continue to show their loyalty by putting money in their clubs in the form of STs, match tickets, lottery, merchandise, text services, etc.

Yes they are expected to keep on doing it, even when there is little or no prospect of success, because of that loyalty. Not like aloyalty to a supermarket but loyalty that makes being a football supporter different from any other pastime/hobby/recreation/activity.

When I first started watching Latics with my Dad, football clubs offered a sense of respite from hard manual labour and a collective celebration of their town. Blokes went straight from work and they all wore flat caps. Women didn't go.

Social change is taking place faster than ever these days, but the strong connections football clubs still provide - the ways they offer a sense of rootedness and locality, even for exiles - is important for a lot of supporters who have lost the sort of connections to place provided by their work.

Football clubs offer a collective and symbolic focus for a sense of belonging and pride in a local community. Some people have even described following football clubs as a neo-religious form of devotion. I’ve heard Joe Royle and Stitch described as ‘God’ and there is even a thread on here titled 'Diego Cervero = God' (not started by me!).

Football offers an opportunity to socialise and share a camaraderie with like-minded people, and also let off steam and release stress which has built up between matches. It is also a good place for people to share adult leisure time with their children.

We also know that some supporters may over-identify with their clubs, and they may see clubs as an extension of their self and invest too much, emotionally, in their teams. This can produce negative effects, including depressive behaviour or even violence. Suppoters can also become involved in rather 'addictive' behaviour in relation to their clubs - I plead guilty as charged re OWTB. For some of these supporters, defeat is probably felt too hard, and victory is almost too much of a 'high'. These are the real 'fanatics'. For some of these fans there might be a refusal to accept the role of mere 'supporter' and insist on fighting for the honour of the community, or the club, which they support.

Naturally Clubs frown on supporters going as far as the latter, but they want their supporters to continue showing their loyalty in the form of putting money into their Club’s coffers, and supporters can only hope that the money is not wasted.

In the case of Latics, it is obvious that there is a shortfall between income and expenditure which, if not met by supporters, has to be met by the owners, whether or not they are seen by supporters to be the right people at the present time.

The people who possess the power to keep Latics alive and help it to grow are those who have stoppoed going to BP and/or stopped putting money into their Club. All adults go through phases in their life when income has to be spent on more important things than Latics, but those with income to spare are the ones to which the plea is directed. The Club has a tough job on its hands to convince enough people that the loyalty they once showed in the form of BP attendance can make a difference to the Club’s short-term survival and its long-term future.

The Club is not alone in this predicament but we can take solace from the fact that the owners are not following the route marked 'Administration/liquidation'.

blimey !! you brainy bugger !!!

    what a dark horse !!!

given as a compliment of course !!

  14. Garcon

Read my mail. I post as a Director not as the Trust Chairman on this view. You miss the point. If they were not around there probably would not be any debate about Failsworth or Boundary Park. Neither might exist. Do you want a club !!!!!!!.

barry , as a latics fan of many years, i would much appreciate an answer to what i think is a very important question regarding your original post.

have you posted it independently, off your own bat, without the three amigos knowledge of it ??

  15. good points on some of the technicalities.

but there is still no valid argument which explains why a `professional football player/or players , who are physically capable, cannot maintain or even excel in keeping up fitness levels in between a match, however long the gap.

if the training regime is kept intensive, then any athlete should be totally ready in every way.

ffotball in general seems to use the old `not mat fit` or `lacks match practise` way too easily and the too many fans take it as a valid reason........ it`s total bull.

rochdale easily continuing on their unbeaten/ winning streak after a lengthy lay off like us recently are living proof.

sorry for gaps........battery on keyboard playing up !!
