  1. TTA Sell the club to John Wardle for £1 Wardle brings in Joe Royle and can provide him with a decent budget having paid poundland prices for the club. Fans are happy that someone with a brain, passion and common sense is managing the team and we will have a bit of steady backing from behind the scenes in terms of funds for wages. If JR could get us from potentially league 2 to the championship in another reign at the club then that would be a real achievment given our lack of movement in the leagues for nearly 13 years that would be seen as a success. The only reason Joe left in the summer was due to the wage budget. If Wardle bought the club for a pittance surely he could cover it? Or at least offer to cover the difference with TTA. You could see from his little stint that he was using common sense and had the passion for the club. Playing players in correct positions, simple philosophies of getting forward and enjoying the game and bringing youth to the side. The likes of brooke would have seen a good 15 games by now IMO if Joe was in charge. forget Failsworth, get Wardle and JR in, steady the ship after relegation (or damn-near it as many predict) and then redevelop BP after the recession picks up. We might not do anything for a couple of years but at least we will have something to watch. You could see from his last post-match interview with Gordon on latics world (before it changed to the highly-irritating Player) that he still loves the game and dugout fever. Im sure most fans would forgive him straight off if he didnt set the worls alight again, but most will have the brains to realise it as two seperate eras with the football world a completely different place to what is was in the pinch-me years. Certainly in terms of wages/player power/revolving squad each summer. Oh and to those who say Joe is too old, just take a look down the road at the 'Theatre of Crap' and get back to me...age doesn't come into it. If TTA have the best of the club at heart they will get out now and give the club to a fresh set of hands in Wardle. If anyone sees JR at The White Harte, tell him to get to BP....
  2. Hear Hear! I for one am a younger fan, I was 2 when we won the 2nd div title and can therefore only 'reminise' after the pinch me years via the VHS tapes. I was taken to BP in my early days but my first memories seem to only stretch as far back as the middle of the godawful Sharpe era. I echo previous posts saying that fans can never forget or erase what Joe achieved in the past. I am grateful to see this legend in the dugout at BP again for one. And if we finish poorly next year, we can know for a fact that we now finally genuinely have someone in charge who loves the club as much as us and is doing their upmost to achieve. Sheridan is also in that mould granted, but we will have a manager with a little more nouse than Shez had and certainly not a passing journeyman ala Moore/Talbot here for the pay packet. Joe's proven himself post-latics. At everton, promotions at city and two playoffs in consecutive years RECENTLY at Ipswich - He has a good track record so clearly is aware of what is required in order to have the best chance of success. So what if we dont get promotion straight away under his reign next season? We should be grateful that a Latics Legend, at his age with so many years in football behind him still has the drive and enthusiasm to get involved and if he stays on next year, get out in the piss poor oldham weather for training. Why? because he still has a drive and love for the game. He could easily retire and do the commentating but no. Oldham came calling and Joe has taken up that so far poisoned chalice and thought sod it - Ill give it a go. He has his reputation of past success on the line and if he can shrug it off and look to be the first to break the mould then surely we should? Give the guy a few years time - dont expect miracles in his first season. The guy has made the effort to come back and will give it his all - of that we have no doubt - therefore we should cut him the slack he will require and just shutup and back the guy. He'll walk away if he knows in his heart he cant do it, lets give him the chance at that second shot.
  3. I grinned when I read this post as it would be pretty amazing to see that partnership. I do, however, think we should stick with Shez, but he could perhaps get on a phone to Big Joe at this crucial time of the season. A bit of advice wouldnt go a miss. If we were to get rid of Shez, I believe Joe would be able to guarantee the playoffs. We would have that buzz around the place again. As some have said 'will Shez get another deal at the end of the season if he stays?' - Id like to point out Shez has a deal to 2010 along with Tommy. So his time wouldnt be up contractually for another season. He signed a 3 year deal at the end of his first season in charge. Also to point out - Joe has not retired, merely not found a club. I cant remember the source to link directly but I am aware that he said at a recent dinner that he would like one last job in management but he is running out of teams in blue left to manage!
  4. Actually shez is here til summer 2010. He was on the one year deal during the 06-07 season and he along with TW and LD signed new deals to summer 2010. Link Just to clear that up
  5. Here here, I cant believe the sort of posts that are being posted in this topic. Sheridan is an Oldham fan at heart, true we arent his most beloved club but he truly cares about what happens at this club. He has genuine ambitions to take us higher than we are and he is down to earth. I think he is the only manager in a long time that speaks his mind, is fair to players and the fans in what he says and genuinely wants to do well for the club and not just himself. He was a fantastic player in his day and he is trying to instil that in his playing staff. Look at Joe Royle, the first 3 or 4 years when he came were nothing special at all, the positions we finished in could have made fans wonder if HE was the correct choice and look what happened. Give him time. We all know he could play well as a player and I believe from what he says and does that he will slowly but surely get us acheiving things as a club rather than nearly acheive them. Stop creating unrest such as "is he the man for the job? "how much longer will TTA keep going like this?" We have a new stadium that has been greenlit, we have owners who are not silly with their funds by any means, we have somewhat of a state of financial stability, we have a manager who cares for the club a lot and wants to do well and slowly but surely IS doing well. Stick with it, KTF and in a couple of years i am confident we will be looking down on league one. Just dont go swapping and changing again. That would mean more money wasted on paying off players the new boss wants to get rid of and bringing in his crowd and giving them time to gel etc etc and we're back to square one.
  6. Yeah, Was a good session tonight, btw futcher's I was the lad at the bar who asked the question about chris taylor down the wing - the question that gordon said was too technical for him lol. Shez was really honest and you can see that he is really down to earth and that if you were a player playing for him, you would want to do well for him. I think he's on the same wavelength as the fans judging from tonight's showing and it is only a matter of time. I have full faith in him. Just waiting for the call to come and coach 'em as he said I should. lol, I wish!
