Does anyone remember the George Best training drills that used to be shown on children's TV in the late 60s/early 70s? Best would explain how to perfect a particular skill and then show said skill in a match situation. The opponents were Latics.

According to Google Maps it’s a 14 hour drive and then a nifty 30 minutes by speedboat...I think you’d want more than a cup of chah after that journey ?
I could be there in three: I'm 45 minutes from the airport, the flight is 1 hour and 25 minutes and then 30 minutes on the speedboat.

Make that two as I am currently on Koh Yao Yai so will be looking into the iFollow match pass this Saturday...
Stick the kettle on. I'll pop down and watch it with you.

Yes!
That's Latics and that's my childhood.
If I was ever invited on Desert Island Discs (which I admit is unlikely) this would be the one record I would keep, purely for its connection to the club.

It's made headlines in the Thai press and we're currently trending on Twitter.

The win at Eastville on Easter Saturday, 1974 was one of the best days I've ever had as a Latics fan. The two matches either side of it (both against Southport) were pretty memorable too!

Are league cup games on?
I've just checked again and they're not. D'oh!
Absolutely gutted. At least I'll get a full night's sleep. . .

I'm planning to get up and watch this match on iFollow. Does anyone know how long before kick off the Match Pass option becomes active and how long it takes to sign in? I have only registered for the free subscription and haven't made any payments before.
Thanks.

It sounds like he enjoyed his time at BP and is full of praise for the club and the fans.

I picked two words at random from a dictionary. ;-)

I'd say our best 0-0 ever was at Plymouth Argyle in May, 1974. It won us the Division 3 title.

I remember that replay and I think the highlights were on TV. The goal we scored was proper lucky - it got stuck in the mud and trickled over the line - was it Ian Wood who scored?
Stoke keeper could not believe what happened
It's funny, I always remember it as a twenty five yard screamer.
-
Yes it was Ian Wood who scored in the replay, Tuesday evening game.
I went to the original Saturday game that was called off with us 2-0 down, but couldn't make the replay as it was a school night.
I was at both. One of the great injustices. Stoke absolutely battered us in both games.

My grandad worked as an electrician on the first BP floodlights.

We were almost always bad when the TV lot came to BP .Good memories though .Nice to see Andy Lochead.
Never will forget that 6-0 thumping from Villa.
Yes. I used to dread seeing the TV cameras at BP. A sure sign we'd lose!
The Villa match still haunts me too.
-
Looks like we were just as bad that season too!!
You mean the season we won the 3rd Division title? ;-)

Highlights from Latics v Watford in 1973.
From 30 minutes.

This happens a lot in Thailand. Even the national team have resorted to it - most notably against Singapore in 2006.
A few years back, the league wrote a fifteen minute clause into the rules, whereby a team can walk off in protest, but must return to the field within a quarter of an hour. I'm assuming that this is still in force.
It really is bizarre when it happens. And not good for the game.
We've also had refs chased and beaten by fans. And shot at by club officials.

One more thing - I just hoped we've forked out whatever it costs to play this tomorrow

The Club and Trust are asking supporters to wear retro shirts and scarves tomorrow.
I'll be wearing my Maurice Whittle 3 shirt at the Chonburi v Ratchaburi match tomorrow evening.
-
This is great news. Well done to everyone in making this decision.
My parents will be making a very rare appearance at tomorrow's match to remember their friend and a true Latics hero. I really wish I could be there. I just hope that it's an occasion fitting of the great man.
Bless you, Friz!

Thanks. I get that as part of my satellite package. I'll be watching.

That was the 2-2 at Leigh.
I was also at the U19s match v Thailand U19s mentioned by Forte_Baby. It was shown live on Thai TV.
