Thanks for all four parts. Very interesting comparison and Brian's explanation of Latics going to the dogs is very diplomatic.
The decorated bus is brilliant. Is the owl related to Chaddy?
Glad you enjoyed it. It's been fun putting it all together.
The bus is the photo is fairly conservatively decorated compared to some you see on the roads over here.
The owl and the shark photo was a lucky find on Google. I also discovered a band called Owl and Shark via the same search.

Lowry's 'Going To The Match' is a great choice.
Thanks, Diego. I've always loved that picture. We used to have a copy of it on our living room wall when I was growing up.

oafctom : That Facebook page is mine. Thank you. Glad to hear that Chonburi's fame has spread far and wide. Bas Savage was at T.O.T. last season. I'm not sure if he's still there.
disjointed : Glad you enjoyed it. Most of the people from the city are Chonburi fans. The club is the centre of the community and there is a lot of local pride attached. Good to see.
Here's part two : The home match day routines of two fans who live 6,000 miles apart http://www.clubwebsite.co.uk/chonburifc/113109/News/view/742008

An interesting read - looking forward to Part Two.
With ‘Mouldy Old Dough’ in mind, does the Chonburi FC PA system play any music of which John Peel would have approved?
The final away League game of the season is Orient away, and on that day we’ll be celebrating 45 years of marriage and 22 years since hugging you on the car park at Ipswich, having just watched Latics clinch promotion to the top flight for the first time in 68 years.
Thanks, Diego.
The rest of the article makes for a very interesting read as well. Some good stuff coming up in the next few days.
Sadly, in my opinion, the music at Chonburi is pretty poor. It's usually the same cd of club songs recorded by a local rock band. I'll send you a copy if you like, then you can make up your own mind.
Time certainly flies. But I can remember every little detail from that day. Including the hug!!

How does supporting an English League One club (Oldham Athletic) compare with supporting a Thai Premier League club (Chonburi FC)? A fan from each team share their thoughts.

It's been a long time since I felt really proud of the Latics.
Today was one of those days.
Well done Robbie Simpson, well done the to the team, well done Dickov, Philliskirk and Gerrard and well done to the fantastic away following that were lucky enough to witness a second-half miracle!
I am praying that we get City or Utd away, in the next round.
I'd rather get either of them at home. More chance of it being on TV. And me getting to watch it.
Selfish, I know :-)

Can't wait to read the posts from those who were there.

Great result. From a very happy, slightly pissed Latics fan in Thailand. :-)

I'm a lifelong Latics fan who runs an independent website for my local Thai team, Chonburi FC. I am looking for someone who is willing to be interviewed for my site about their matchday routine.
Preferably, I'd like it to be a season ticket holder who lives in the Oldham area and travels to a fair number of away games but I'd be more than happy to hear from anyone who just attends regularly.
If you're interested, please can you send me a PM and I'll get back to you asap.
Thanks.

Merry Christmas, everyone.
Season's greetings to all Latics fans from Thailand. :-)

I was checking out one of my favourite music websites when I came across this: http://darcysfeelit.blogspot.com/2012/12/door-15.html
That's Jim Steel, if I'm not mistaken.

Step On by Happy Mondays always reminds me of the League Cup final against Nottingham Forest.
London Calling by The Clash reminds me of a Friday night game against Birmingham City in December 1979. I bought the lp at a record shop just outside Piccadilly Station on my way to the match.

He's soon to be announced manager of 1860 Munich.
OK. Thanks. The last story I heard over here was that he was considering staying on. He'd certainly be more fulfilled as a coach at 1860. His main job in Thailand was to attract headlines for Tero - he didn't even sit on the bench or oversee training sessions. However, his presence did inspire them to finish the season strongly - ending up a distant third - behind my club, Chonburi.
-
How about this chap? Steve Darby
He's got a proven track record in Asia and would jump at the chance to coach at Oldham. He also has some good contacts.
btw Sven is on an absolute fortune at Tero, for doing very little. His initial contract was only for two months (until the end of the season) but he's thinking of staying for next season.

Does anyone have a link to the photo of Ronnie Blair's "Goal That Never Was" against M*n U*d in 1974?
Thanks
-
Yes. And at the second match when Ian Wood scored a thirty yard screamer in the first couple of minutes. We spent the rest of the match defending.
I always use this cup tie of an example of why I love football when quizzed by fans of basketball, AFL, rugby etc. They don't understand the injustice.

My daughter's band back in the day is listed as No. 400 on 19.9.89.
ThaiLatic will be disappointed that his band's session on 11.2.95 (repeated 16.9.95) is not included. This gives an insight into what doing a Peel session involved.
Thanks for the plug, Diego. :-)
Interested parties can download our Peel Session directly from here: http://www.mediafire.com/?jozkm3nweny

What does it mean to be a Latics fan?
Currently it means feeling knackered because I couldn't sleep last night until I knew how we'd got on against Scunthorpe. It's been just over nine years since I last saw us play. I've never seen any of the current team play. I left Oldham in 1975. I live 6,000 miles away but it's still my club and it always will be.

Can you have a birthday every week! :-)
Enjoy your evening.

Thanks. Glad you enjoyed it.
It's only in English at the moment. I have thought about getting it translated and posting it on one of the Thai football sites.
