  1. i was startin to think just maybe Oldham Athletic have turned a corner and stopped being :censored:. But no, back to normal. Only Latics

They HAVE turned a corner many times this season just cast your mind back to last year and what we sat through week in week out no comparison.

  2. I know it's all doom and gloom, but on the brighter side we have 3 out of our last 4 we are 4 points off second with a game in hand, yes it was a poor giveaway tonight but PD will make them learn from it, let's pick ourselves up for the Dale game on Saturday

But will PD learn from his mistakes tonight? hopefully still great football compared to the last few seasons.

  3. Poor substitutions. Dickov took off the pace that had been so effective all game.

Inexperienced management it comes down to.

Credit to Exeter they never gave in - PD has to take some of the blame tonight - took off all the width, altho I know White was shattered, then took of Taylor and Cedric and out on Ritchie Jones who had a torrid time, Feeney who again did not impress yet Winchester clearly was struggling but no help offered.

Shame to lose from 3 goals up but definately a lesson learned for the management team surely.

  4. I must say if i was Blitz and i came onto these boards, having thrown hundreds of thousands of pounds away, which i will never ever get back.. and i was being blamed (even 20% wtf?) id be pretty damn mad. Some people need to realise without backing from people like this we wont last until next week. And 350 quid a year on a season ticket doesnt come close to running the club, or give anyone the right to start dishing out blame. So hes come here and left with his wallet a lot thinner and said enough is enough, he isnt the first, he wont be the last. So why dont we have the grace to say thankyou for your time and money, instead of doing everything down all the time. That is unless anyone on here wants to throw everything they have worked hard for into this club until you have nothing left, then we will attribute you a percentage of blame!

    Well said..

  5. Er...........Yeh!!!!

They may have initially rescued us from oblivion for which we should be eternally grateful, however, their decision making since, on just about everything you care to mention has been catastrophic!!!!

OMBC can take much of the blame, however, if Simon Corney followed suit and sailed off into the sunset could we honestly say we are in a much better position than we were 7 years ago!!!

Er Yeh!!! the club was a week or two from going under????????????????? oafc1855

Irespective of what you personally think of TTA the money invested has kept us afloat and was say you or me who had made our fortunes in the commercial world through working hard....why would you continue to pour it down and Oldham drain when they have had no backing at all from any angle especially the Council!

  6. It's a wonder they have backed us for so long, no one can sustain losses on the scale they have forever. Personally I can only thank them for their backing and wish them luck....

Now it would appear the hard times are back and we as fans are just gong to accept whatever is left... here or in Failsworth.

Thanks as well must go to Simon Corney, not sure how long he can continue to support us and can only hope for his sake there is some help out there in he form of another investor.

    Let's hope there is!

  7. This makes interesting reading.

In her new book 'Football Management', the university's Dr Sue Bridgewater relates results to average wage bills and calculates that the most consistent over-achiever in the five seasons up to 2008 was Pulis's final League position, for instance, was regularly between six and seven places higher than his team were in a league table based on wages (which cannot all be down to long throw-ins). It is the sort of comparison that tends to appeal to clubs of a certain level looking for a new manager. Chairmen should therefore note that Paul Jewell, unemployed for the past 16 months since leaving Derby County, is in the top six.

Now you are scaring me - I was just about to renew then you mention Paul Jewell who and not quite sure why I cannot abided....think he slagged us off years ago and I have never forgiven him. I think it should be someone who has some passion for the clb and not just looing for a wage.

  8. high point: ooh roger palmer. end of.

low point: not so much a single point, but the slow nagging feeling that developed over the last few months that i didn't want the season ticket that i've had for each of the last 23 years anymore because every game i was just looking forward to the final whistle so i could go home again. i realised this season i have fallen out of love with the club that used to mean (almost) everything to me.

Exacty what has happened to me this season, I am gutted......still now I will renew in the hope of a new beggining!

  9. Highlight of what has been a very poor season!!

If the club had announced it beforehand, i'm sure they would have raised enough on the gate to cover his appearance fee!!

Living legend, brought the house down.

Totally agree, something at last to bring a smile to my face at the Latics, great to see him

  10. The other week we said no we won't be as Tangerine works away mid-week so he missed the usual mid-week games, which we knew about fair enough. However with re-arranged ones due to weather etc. It wasn't going to be worth it for him.

But then I got my two nephews hooked on coming to latics and guess what they both want as an early birthday/chimbo pressie - you got it a season ticket each.

So, the offer from the club came out and it now is a good chance we will for a family in the RRE and that you can spread the cost over 10 months (I think), with a little added on of course, we are now seriously considering the offer.

Okay the footy hasn't been great but we are fans and we support, no matter how little or often we can, or how ugly the footy is. We support and "hope" things turn around.

God of footy...please turn it around......

"Okay the footy hasn't been great" sorry it's not even been average

  11. Why not buy a ST because you want to support the club that you have followed for many a year?

I'm buying one because; I'm an Oldham fan and for £13 a game I still think im getting pretty decent value. £20 a game I may think otherwise.

Because I have lost the passion to support them it's as simple as that it has nothing at all to do with the cost.

  12. On that pitch .. and at this stage of the season 3 points is the same wether its a great game to watch or not.

I would agree, three points is what matters at this stage to the club and fans - however it's not what matters to the fans who are considering whether they renew their tickets next year or not.

It has been horrendously boring all season so bad I have seen the most ardent of fans walk away, and know of others who just no matter how long they have supported the club are definately not renewing next year, if we are lucky they will at least pick and choose some of the games to attend but much more of what's been served this year and there'll be hardly anyone left.

It really is sad to see and experience.

  13. Furman was playing well but i get the feeling that DP could have taken absolutely anyone off and the reaction would have been the same, like it was against millwall when abbott was taken off even though he was clearly knackered. People are looking for reasons to give penney some stick and a substitution was the only opportunity they got today.

Sorry if he had taken Taylor off I would not have questioned it...he had a nothing game again and I'm a Chrissy fan.

  14. I was impressed with the performance today. We defended when we needed to (which wasn't that often if truth be told) and we attacked well and could quite easily have scored 5 or 6 goals.

I liked the look of Jason Price and him and Abbott linked up well on a few occasions.

PS. Those who were singing "you don't know what you're doing" to DP when he took furman off, get a grip you fools!

So Furman was the worst player on the pitch then much worse than Chris Taylor.....what were you drinking today?
