  1. Why can't wellens just stick with two  upfront..created very little again 2nd half bar that spell where duck had a few efforts..Doyle again nothing to feed on. Back 4 did well, Doncaster came for a draw and got one..subs made no sense. Nazon ineffective once he went rw.. Set pieces were poor.

If you look back long, long ago to RW's first 6 league games after Shez went (seems a lifetime ago) we won 4 and drew 2 (and should have beaten Franchise in that run rather than drawing 4-4).

The largely settled team had 9 players starting every one of those games: Placide, Bryan, Clarke, Hunt, Fane, Byrne, Gardner, Davies and Doyle. The only changes were Dummigan for Wilson after the Peterborough game, and Menig for Nepo after the Bradford game.

Of the 13 starters, Clarke isn't available (surely an error, with hindsight), Dummigan is injured, Menig has gone and Davies doesn't look fit. Bryan may or may not be back? I'm not sure why Nepo has hardly featured and those who've seen more of him will know better than me, but our better results seemed to happen when he was starting.

We've surely got to revert as much as possible to the line up, formation and tactics of that six game run, and given that we're fairly likely to concede, we have to take our chances. Stating the obvious, I admit. But looking at the six teams we played in September/October, apart from Franchise and Bury, now relegated, the others are all top 10: Peterborough (9th, won 3-2), Portsmouth (8th, won 2-1), Blackburn (2nd, promoted, won 1-0) and Bradford (10th, drew 1-1). The difference between potential and reality in this group of players is startling.

Been saying this for weeks. Why hasn't Nepo featured more often? He did have a poor game one week where his crossing was poor but I don't think he did bad enough to not be considered for weeks on end. He's a tidy hard working player who can find half a yard for a cross.  BUt agree with the rest. I've said id go with Doyle and Duck up front but really we just need to throw the kitchen sink at Doncaster, we won't keep a clean sheet so we need to create chances and put em away. Easier said than done.

  3. Cant play Nazon wide i don't think - from the corner Tuesday, he had there man bang marked up then turned away there guy raced on and then played one simple pass and then the less said about the corner the better.  I've wanted Holloway to get given a run all season but after his miss midweek and his lack of wanting to shoot a couple with his lack of awareness in the box, I've come to the conclusion he just isn't a forward.

    Id go

    Placide

    Hammer RB

    George

    Gerrard if fit

    Hunt

Nepo - 5 assists this season and a goal as well, he gives us a bit of width and can usually find a cross, he's not Beckham but he's the best wide player we have.

    Pringle

    Bryne

    Gardner

    Doyle

    Duck

We have to score more than they do we won't keep a clean sheet so we need to get decent balls into the box. The only glimmer I can find is we created plenty Tuesday but I really do think this it the season we go. Fingers crossed we can go to Northampton with it in our hands

  4. Clarke going without a clear replacement is up there with starting a season without a first choice keeper. Flynns been a massive dissapointment so he's not loss.

Last night we were up against an athletic side who were better going forward than they were at the back..Doyles probably feeling the pressure hence him missing chances he would have buried when in Form. Not  that it matters but how did Holloway miss from 4 yards? Or fail to shoot later on? Is he a forward or not. The defense was poor but with the formation chosen we were all ways going to leave gaps..te defending for the 1st was awful. Gk error for the second.  There are too many faults in that team to fix. If we have only won once in 11 I can't see us getting more than draws unless Doncaster play a load of kids. Even then with confidence like it is I wouldn't bet on us winning..I got the impression he brought benteke on cause he's know the gigs up...He's not given him a chance until we were well beat

  5. I've not been impressed with him after the new manager burst he had. Since then I think we have been poor tactically..sticking to a formation that doesn't work and conceding poor goals by over playing in our own last 3Rd.. We must have one of the worst midfields in the division.

I think that we should use somebody else for the team talk tonight.

hahaha. I'm sure Wellens will get them Rev'ed Up.

I know you can't legislate for injuries but leaving yourself with only 2 fit central defenders seems really short-sighted. When all you have to fall back on is young lads with barely any game time

  7. If that Back 4 starts we get hammered by that I mean Hamer, George, Sott, Hunt. Nothing against them they are kids. George has done not to bad since he's come in so has Hamer, but over 90 minutes of a team coming of a 4-0 win you can help but think we are there to be got at. First goal is massive tonight. Go a goal down early we could be thumped. We have to start on the front foot and really work from minute 1 tonight.

  8. Bryne's a little gobsh**** thinks he's better than he is. Unless the balls at his feet he's doesn't want to know. Backs out of tackles all the time and doesn't track runners.

We were rubbish last night have been for weeks. How Wellens thinks we are going to score or even hold the ball up top with Doyle and Nazon is beyond barmy. It's not worked for the last  4 games and no sign of it clicking. Holloway should have started last night or at the very least been the 1st sub.

  9. Hamer and Edmunson did brilliantly for young lads.

The midfield again poor, the system doesn't work Wellens change it - I know at this stage its a risk but we go down playing like this.

If Wellens thought to take every goal kick to Hamer to flick on was going to get us good position hight up the pitch then god help us.

Doyle no service he isn't strong enough and his touch isn't good enough to be a target man. If CD ain't fit start Holloway, he's not brilliant but he can win headers and hold the ball a bit. Give us some kind of platform to build on. WHy the hell he brought on the young Irish kid who hasn't show much as the first sub I have no idea. Holloway should have been on at the start of the second half.

We didn't lose but it was another poor performance - when was the last time we won a game convincingly?? 4 draw's on the bounce - death by a thousand cuts

If Dale had their top scorer in last night we probably lose. Andrew is a menace, good in their box defending corners and good up front as a mobile target man -= he's also a cowardly thug who knows exactly how to use his elbows

  10. I still want a solid 442 try and get wide of times and put the ball in early not all the time but enough to give box players like Doyle something to run onto. Walsall were awful but we just didn't stretch them. Moimbe did a cracking job of trying to get forward and put crosses in. A couple were decent or Walsall defended well but at least it gives the likes of Doyle something to try and get on the end of. This isn't a criticism of Hunt as he's not an attacking full-back he only put one cross in all game.  I'd bring Nepo back in on the left, he's a tidy crosser at times. Nazon has to start after the Walsall game was he a real threat for the first half and gives us some much needed pace. Gardner has been awful for weeks to inconsistent. He can go from playing a Hollywood ball to a misplaced 5 yard in 2 minutes but his work rate seems to have dropped as well hes got the engine to cover every blade of grass on the pitch and has doen it at times but he's been rubbish these last few weeks. I actually think he plays better when Bryne isn't in the team.

    Placide

    Hunt

    Edmundson

    Gerrard

    Moimbe

    Nepo

    Bryne

    Fane

    McEleney

    Nazon

    Doyle

  11. The diamond hasn't suites us for ages..gives teams half the pitch to attack us and means we have little width. The team are obsessd with giving the ball to bryne at times we will have decent possession but give it back to bryne for no reason..go for a proper 4 4 2. And get the ball in early. Too open at the back to ponderous going forward that's us this season. Play the in the opponents half that's what I want to see

  12. Carlisle striker Shaun Miller has become the first player in English football to be retrospectively banned for diving.

Anyone seen this? What do you think? Personally think its a bit harsh, to say the least. He collects possession in the box tries to control it and the opposition defender makes a bit of an untidy challenge which he kind of jumps out the way off - falls over, plays the ball when he's on the deck and carries on, doesn't even appeal the penalty.

It was no myth, Dean Brill was dreadful and as for being a good shot stopper, I couldn't disagree more.

Any free kick within about 30 yards of our goal was like a penalty, he was truly awful.

    1

This I have never seen us concede some many free kicks that led to goals. He couldn't set a wall up and then was dead slow across his line.

I've always thought Lord Kanaga was the worst player I've even seen or maybe David Lee who was just clearly out of his depth

  14. To me it looks like his legs have gone, doesn't have the pace of old so has to play with his head and keep a position... He rarely bursts into a sprint anymore.

He created a number of clear chances v Oxford and the forwards failed to take any of them.  He fairly comfortable on the ball and his passing is above average for the team. playing as a wingback isn't going to suit him he doesn't have the raw pace of old and when he left Gerrard exposed in the first half we could have been in trouble.

Hes been solid rather than spectacular and I imagine he will be here next season.

  15. Not sure where this nonsense about him not being good technically is coming from. Yes he's unusual and doesn't look like most footballers but his touch is decent, holds defenders off and uses his body well and that run and run into the corner was good play. Clearly no where near fit.

Could be an important player for us in the run in - may not get many but held the ball up better than Irwin and looked more of a threat. Irwins too slow with the ball at his feet that his biggest weakness - he isnt a target man either wants the ball to feet or chest all the time.

Anway Ngoo did well for us when he came on and i hope it continues - love him to notch a couple before the end of the season as well

  16. Fitness appears to be a problem, but we must remember that most of this team didn't have a proper pre-season. Generally professionals say that you need a good pre-season to carry you through the season. Whilst there may be an element that you can catch up we have too many players without a pre-season in the locker.

With regards to Green his game is heavily based on running and getting about the pitch,I think father time has caught up with him which is why he was available for us to sign.

Not making excuses for such utter dross that is served up, but the buck stops at SCs door who allowed most of last year's squad to leave.

Totally agree with this. Especially green. He was decent at the start of the season but his legs are going...remembering him getting into a forward position and looking to cross a few home games ago but he was that heavy legged he kicked it out for a goal kick..He's done a few similar things last home game just hoofing a ball out of play rather than trying to control it. I think he can only play 90 mins once a week. He wants to cover every blade of grass but I don't think the legs have it anymore.

  17. He put one good cross in during the last game in the hour he was on. RM put at least 4 in and went at the full back everytime. Winchester isn't a winger amd successive managers fail to keep him in the team regularly. He hasn't got enough to nail a place down..the midfield aren't great but they all do something better than Winchester weather that's work rate. Tackling or scoring goals flynn has 2 this season Winchester has 2 in God knows how many seasons. We are rubbish but Winchester isn't a solution

  18. Dale started well and passed it nicely. Didn't create anything. We got back into with some long balls up to main and Holloway then a nice move down the left forte crossed mains touch puts it into Holloway and he finishes clinically.

Dale on the back foot but out of nowhere they put a cross into the box and there fella goes over. Penalty - looked soft to me there fella was looking for something to fall over.

Not long after Henderson makes another challenge from behind and deservedly gets sent off. 2nd hand they get a free kick Holloway needlesy conceades a corner that dale fizz in and then Gerrard and palmer both get touches but it goes in. Then dieng with everyone looking for a long ball tries a short pass to no one it's intercepted and we fail to make grond or put a tackle in and their fella smashes it into the top corner. Two dire goals to conceade. One of the center backs could have challenged for the ball surely. We huff and puff and had some success with long ball then tiele finds a flick back to Holloway who smashed it in from distance. But that was that. Substations were odd conner Brown was brought on as a wing back but we were mainly on the front foot and he no ability on the ball..croft made a cameo as well but pointless. We could have got a result today. Gutted to loose in that fashion. To many soft goals given away all season long
