  1. I can't believe once more that certain people on this forum are questioning TTA motives. If you go onto the website and listen to his Christmas Blog it is probably the most honest interview you're ever likely to hear.

How many chairman are willing to come on their website and be as open and honest as Simon Corney?

It's blindingly obvious TTA have the best interests of the club at heart and instead of taking silly rumours for granted, get behind the club and the owners 100%!!!!!

Like Simon says if Hughes and or Taylor go it will have been the players decision, and they will go only if it's right for the club, every player has a value especially at a club that is loosing money!

He goes on to say that even if they both stay there could still be money made available to Shez for players in the window.....Unbelievable!!! ..and that's on crowds of under 6000!!!

Come on for Christ's sake get real..... we've got brilliant owners and should be very, very, thankful for that!!!!

Somebody on here said we are loosing 15K a week....That's not the case and is the amount we were loosing when TTA first arrived.

Well said. I think the losses are now £15K per week as opposed to 50 K when TTA took over if I heard correctly

  2. Thought it was a good interview, and a fair and balanced assessment of the reality of running latics, and running it very well. Interesting that many clubs are in dire straits and that latics finances are (comparitively) sound.

Restored my sanity somewhat after all the rumours flying round.

Steady progress is success at latics and frustrating though it is for the fans we have to accept that until other sources of funding come through ie redeveloped stadium (prob years away) or improved crowds (been waiting 50 years) we have to sell players but at least we can hang on for the right price rather than fire sale prices like simon said

  3. That's what i love about latics. the constant stream of encouraging news. Whilst I can see the reasoning it is the fact that sometimes football seems to have nothing to do with sport and all to do with money that makes me wonder why i bother. If this source/leak is genuine, couldn't at least he/she have kept their gob shut until after christmas. It is this kind of thing that causes such cynicism and apathy about latics to the non-believers and fallers by the wayside. It p**ses me off that whenever there is cause for cautious optimism with latics there is inevitably some bad news to offset it, or failing that, an "injury crisis"

Rant over bored today. Wil be there with me scarf on Sat

  4. In his contract the figure was £400k so perhaps nobody is willing to pay this ?

My sources have been pretty much spot on the last few times, e.g Davies to Stockport, O'Grady out on loan and The whole episode regarding Chalmers.

Like i said i hope it isnt true and would love the club to deny this but its from a very reliable source who has no reason to lie about it and no motive for allowing it to be public knowledge.

When teams getting promoted stand to make £4m this season (due to championship tv money i think) we might aswell hold on to our best players and have a go at promotion as we know we are capable after all Hughes didnt cost us anything in the first place and he could also sign a new deal just so we could get cash for him next season instead of him going on a free.

Fair enough. Times must be hard though if we need the cash that badly that he would be allowed to leave for such a relatively small sum.

  5. i just hope that leeds dont sack mcallister until after jan coz i have a funny feeling they will come straight for shez and if he goes he will go straight for hughes and taylor.

bloo*y h*ll - hadn't thought of that. The thing about being a latics fan is there is always something to worry about !!

No not havin it ..fantastic result today Shez in

  6. Some people live in gaga land.

If Shez went its not a matter of who we would get as opposed to who would take it ??

    BIG difference.

Back in 1990 when we played Utd in semi they were all saying if we won then AF would be sacked.

proportionately he had far more resources than Shez at the time and look how he struggled.

Admitted that under Shez we have had some really bad games but we have also had some of the best performances since big Joe -

Leeds twice away , Everton , Huddersfield away , Scunny , Forest to name a few.

We expect too much , get real , and wake up to the fact we are a financilly struggling team in League one with gates bearly covering 5000. Losing money and fortunately owners who rescued us from the mire.Probably in the league one of well off we would be in the relegation zone but we expect promotion !!!!!

I think given time he will get it right but admit he has a few faults that need ironing out.

His two main probems appear to be -

1/ Man management (think i read on a post somewhere that he is struggling not be one of the boys) thats the biggest problem in any management job when promoted from within.

    2/ Dithering with transfer targets.

I think when he gets them right then he will be a good manager.

The issue is do we give him time or get somebody else in , start from scratch (because they will want their own players in) and put up with their faults ??

    I say give Shez time.

Agree 100%. Big Joe had a two year honeymoon period followed by some pretty dire seasons. It is even tougher now for smaller clubs. Shez is a genuine fan of the club unlike Talbot Warnock and M**** I find it amazing that some people seriously think he should go. Its interesting to read the extremes of opinion on a message board but I think people need a reality check and should be careful what they wish for.

  7. Disagree...yeah in the eras you talk about in our history they were miraculous acheivements but for this level, this season, expectations are exactly where they should be. We've one of the highest costing playing staff, we've had this stability we've talked about to build for a season where we shoot for promotion (or give it a damn good shot at least) and where I've felt in years gone by, we have had unreal expectations, this season certainly isn't the case. Under Dowie in the 02/03 season and this season are the only two seasons of high expectations I've had...unrealistic, they certainly aint!

Fair enough. Didn't express myself clearly. What I mean is that Latics have punched above their weight in those eras, and I fervently hope we will do so again, and i will be gutted if we miss out again ths season. BUT it takes some doing getting out of this league, so the doom and gloom is an expression of our fears that we might be destined for years of 3rd division mediocrity. When we lose games such as Yeovil at home those fears are brought out. I really hope promotion is achieved but when people get on shez's back we should remember that it is no easy task that faces latics, bearing in mind the poor core support levels compared with say Leeds & Leicester

  8. What Corporal Jones said is regrettably true albeit depressing. Us older 'tics, or me anyway, will remember that when Frizz got us promoted it was at that time relatively as miraculous as the Joe Royle promotion era, so the expectation level at Latics is unrealistic. that said if we cannot keep hope (or faith) that one day we will get out of this league, upwards by the way, then it takes away the point of following latics, or loads of other lower league clubs. This is why the greedy league ignore the lower leagues at its peril, because whats the point of a premier league without a strong healthy and competitive legue structure undrneath. United v Liverpool would be less exciting to the armchair fan if they were two of only 12 viable clubs left in Britain...a la SPL..rangers, Celtic and ..er who cares

  9. From previous interviews ive watched it seems to me that TTA and or Alan Hardy deal with the contracts and discipline side of thing such as fines etc and Shez concentrates on the footy...which is probably how it should be, and I think Shez would want it that way. As said in an earlier post Shez has identified who he wants so its now up to the club to sort out the financial & contract side. Interview is back on Latics world, maybe edited cos nothing about Corney in the one i watched. A win at Northampton will dispel the gloom...so here's hoping
