  1. Absolute rubbish tonight.  Played right into their hands trying to match them instead of imposing ourselves down the flanks like Saturday.  Nuttall and Tollitt should have been taken off far sooner as both couldn't find a blue shirt.  The 2nd goal for them looked to be a foul on the keeper to me but he still could have done better.  When we did get crosses in we only had Norwood in there against 3 defenders so not much chance.  Nuttall was out wide far too much and is too soft.

  2. I thought the tone was set early with Dickenson and Kitching attacking as a pair down the left.  They put some great crosses in that could on another day have had us 2 or 3 nil up before we actually scored.  The difference that it makes having players that can go outside the fullback and cross is amazing.  I was critical of Nuttall early on in the game as he wasn't using his strength enough but when he got the bit of luck (he definitely fouled their player) to tee Norwood up for the first he grew into the game.

  3. We always seemed to do well against Wolves as we beat them the season before that when they had John De Wolff playing for them.  I searched for a photo of Beckford wearing the Keeper top as I have recollections of it being the programme front cover a few weeks later.  I didn't find anything although there is a clip of him playing in goal for Norwich and making a good save.

My mind might be playing tricks, but I seem to remember In the 1990s after our goalkeeper was injured Darren Beckford going in nets and making several good saves.

Can anyone else remember that game?

It was Wolves at home.  I think if I remember correctly Steve Bull was sent off in the first half as well.

I was a little surprised the ref didn't make Norman change his top as it was almost identical to the Bromley kit but maybe he was colour blind or just blind like most of the other refs we seem to get. 😀

I said the exact same thing.  I watched the highlights before and it was very difficult to separate Magnus from their players.

The 1st half was the most enjoyable this season, also how much more comfortable did Sutton look playing at CH. A right back has to be a priority along with a couple of midfielders, I would certainly use Shelton as a stop gap right back again.

I thought Shelton was better there than playing in midfield.  He did get caught out with the high cross field passes quite often though.  I think we need a similar player to Kitching to play on the right and at least one midfielder that can pick forward passes.

^ So the Latics received around £1 million for Bernard in the mid-1990s? That was very serious money at the time and could have been put to good use, but clearly wasn't! I remember watching a newly relegated OAFC side playing at Fulham in September 1997 against a side just up from the old Fourth Division (or whatever it was called back then), and getting slaughtered. The fans probably thought things couldn't get much worse from then on, but there was another quarter of a century of decline (at least) to come, lol.....

Not just the money from this transfer.  We sold other players for good prices and bought crap replacements like Nicky Banger, Toddy Orlygsson, etc.  We also lost a few players for free or low fees due to the new Bosman ruling.  The worst was losing Chris Makin for free to Marseille.  Some of the young players that came through the youth system also didn't make the cut like we thought they would.  We also had some very good players left over from being in the top flight which Graeme Sharp wouldn't utilise properly for example Darren Beckford who was a very good striker for that level but never played often even of he scored in his few appearances. I can remember talking to him at the time and he was very frustrated because the manager just didn't like him.

I always wonder why they don’t have one or two player on the other side and kick to them,When the other 18 are on the other side of the pitch or play a ball to half way line and pick it up.

Tollitt went to do that yesterday and Unsworth shouted at him to get back into the massive group of players bunched up on one side.

Fair point, for them it did work can’t disagree. Don’t think either of our centre halves could deal with him yesterday and he did cause problems for sure.

I don’t know enough about Nuttall other than the home games he has played for us, but not sure he is that type of player anyway?

Nuttall was absolute crap yesterday.  I can't see what type of player he's supposed to be because he just looks like a passenger to me.  He may be a great finisher but we won't create chances for him if he can't hold the ball and bring others into play or control the headers when he actually manages to win one.

I’ve no idea if they can create or not.

Norman gets the ball, waves everyone forward and punts it to Fondop or Nuttall.

Majority of the time centre half wins the header, we lose the second ball because we don’t press and possession is the back with opposition, rinse and repeat.

Not a dig at Norman either, long ball seems to be the tactic, it’s shite to watch and isn’t working.  How often in a game do we string 5-passes together?

Not having it that it’s down to ability, they are professional footballers we’ve played in theory lesser opponents with lesser players who don’t need to do that, so why do we?

The tactic would work if our 2 big strikers played like Desierve did for Halifax yesterday.  It just looked a different game when Desierve was challenging our defenders.  He did get away with a lot yesterday which I think had it been Fondop or Nuttall doing would have been a free kick everytime.

I would love to interview Unsworth post match… none of this tiptoeing around politely requesting ‘thoughts’ on the game - I’d simply ask him whether he has finally accepted that he’s not cut out to be a manager - love to hear his ‘thoughts’ on that one 👍

I would love to hear him say I resign as he's lost it or maybe even never had it.  The fans will never warm to him and it will only get worse with his attitude towards the fans.
