  1. one of those :censored: got me with a coke bottle, so i threw it back, surprisingly 15 minutes later i was ejected from the ground. i dont give a :censored: iv always said if someone or something hits me then they get it back. and i aint going to change for those cockney scum bags

You are kidding right? How old are you, 9?

  2. As much as I'd like that to be true, the way it sounds by the OS they pulled him in the office, told him he was gone and that they'd accept resignation by mutual consent to save face for both parties.

Of course, this is pure speculation.

Let's hope Dave Penney gets the same chat before the close of play today..........

  3. Over a post-game pint in the Range, after a bad performance; I tend to at least try to still find the positives; it’s what me & mate try to do, “you know even though we were pretty awful; at least <insert player name> had a good game” etc etc.

Last night, we genuinely struggled for positives.

That was a game between to awful sides, who between them produced a stagnant, turgid horrible game of football. As bad a game as I can honestly remember.

It has sadly come to this; being a season ticket holder is the ONLY reason I’m still going to attend home game. If I hadn’t paid upfront; there is absolutely no way I’d still be turning up and paying to see that dross. If performances continue in that vein, I honestly might not even bother; even though I’ve shelled out. I’m not entertained anymore, there is no atmosphere anymore, there’s no passion or pride anymore – it feels more like a duty or chore turning up now; not something that you are actually genuinely excited & motivated to do.

My Dad picks & chooses the games he comes to; with the 5 & a bit weeks layoff and it being the 1st game of 2010 he decided to come last night. £20+ spent that he said outright he would not be doing again this season – he gets to say 1 in every 4/5 home games these days; or should I say used to – that’s it for him; another one lost.

Its not just the 0-0 scoreline, it’s the manner of the performance. We set up last night for a draw. At home. Against Tranmere. Who are a worse team than us. Set up for a point, Unbelievable.

    A CB at RB

    A CM switched to RB

    A Winger starting upfront

A powder-puff CM on the left; then the right.

A ST brought on the play on the left, then the right of midfield.

An out of sorts youngster playing in 4 different positions in the 90mins (no no effect in any I might add)

Baffling changes, baffling tactical decision & baffling selection decisions.

Penney is & will be the fall guy for many, and to be honest I can have no qualms with those fans. The often used phrase of ‘once the players cross the white line its down to them not the manager’ is tripe as far as I’m concerned. DP picks the team, set the tactics & modes of play & sends them out – his decisions – his responsibility – end of.

We have bog standard players coupled with a bog standard management team (I actually heard Colliett shout to JJ ‘Kick the ball Joe’ last night; beggars belief eh?) in a bog standard ground. We’ll be playing in a bog standard league 2 next year too……………….

Utterly, utterly disaffected with it all now; the pride & passion has gone from the club – and for the 1st time; it’s gone from me too now. As LaticNik says OAFCRIP.

    Over & Out.

Likewise mate, what a complete waste of a night off.......

  4. Very strong rumour here in Blackpool that Daniel Nardiello is on the verge of signing for us initialy on loan untill end of season with a view to perminent move at end of season. texts from 3lashars fans who dont know each other so maybe something in it.

Met him 12 months back, seemed a decent bloke. Lived in Sale then so travelling wouldn't be an issue. Can't be any worse than the current shower.....

  5. pmsl

i think we could do with keeping heff for the rest of the season,i think when pavs fit it could be a good partnership, other than that someone who is going to play in midfield and take games by the scruff of there necks and get things moving again.

Agreed, just don't let him take any more flaming penalties.....

  6. that's why they cost peanuts ...

Unless my memory is playing tricks on me (and Wiki suggests it isn't) both Mike Milligan and Nick Henry came up through our youth system after signing as school boys. Both cost peanuts as you put it and yet both went on to become Latics legends....

  7. How is dale's midfield made up?

I believe they have 2 pacey wingers, but are the 2 central spots taken up by grafters (as we had in the good old days of Milligan and Henry)?

None of our current midfield are fit to even be mentioned in the same breath as either of those two. No stomach for a fight and no bollocks for one either.......

  8. If it was an all ticket match you wouldn't get a significant increase, besides, the way we are playing at the moment we'll be lucky to get 7000 even if it's pay on the day!!!

People won't come and watch rubbish.....even for £2, and even those that do, when they see what's served up, do you really think they'll come to the next home game when it's £20!!! They didn't even come back after celebration Sunday when we played brilliant and won

    6 v 0!!!!

I think the club are just throwing money away......You're not going to get bums on seats with one off promotions it has to be done over a sustainable period..................We should be aiming our promotions at Oldham's younsters who will be the future of the club and letting under 17's in free for the rest of the season would be far better!!

Or better still spend the money on better quality players....It's been said so many times, a successful team is the only way to increase your fanbase!!!

I wouldn't know mate because I couldn't get in, despite getting to the ground at about 1.30pm and having already paid for my seat in advance. Having said that, if I get locked out again, they might be doing me a favour this time around because we'll be lucky to score 1 goal let alone 6

  9. A point made by Snook a little earlier about people sitting in others seats. If you read your ticket, be it season or matchday, it states that you should 'take up your position at least 45 minutes before kick off'. Quite frankly I have no sympathy if your seat is taken*.

*Unless you are an exile and was stuck in traffic or have rushed in from work.

Glad you added that last bit Martin, not all of us have the luxury of living 2 minutes from the ground and not having to work crap shifts. On the day of the Exeter game i'm on earlies. I've blagged an early finish as usual but won't be able to leave work in Stretford any earlier than 2pm. I'll be extremely annoyed if I get to BP and the stadium is full of free loaders, meaning I can't get in, despite having a season ticket. I've no objection to sitting in a different seat if mine is taken but Celebration Sunday was far from a celebration. After my 20 mile drive to BP I was turned away, despite having a season ticket, and by the time I got home again at 3.30pm we were already 3 v 0 up.

I agree fully with the club offering such a massive discount in order to fill the stadium but they need to make the game all ticket and sell the tickets for peanuts to prevent another Celebration Sunday situation when plenty of season ticket holders got locked out.

I'm afraid i'm with Prozac when he says that the only reason he hasn't packed in coming this season is because he's already paid in advance. Just can't get excited by what's been served up of late.....

  10. No contest for me

Flahaven all the way, would have been a cricket score if it were not for him

100% agree. The keeper was outstanding and didn't deserve to be on the losing side after a performance like that. Thank Christ that Brill wasn't in goal.......

  11. on saturday it looked intentional and seemed like the whistle had long bin blown but after watching that replay i think tierny has every right to be agrieved. seems very harsh to me. it was bout 2 seconds after the whistle at most that he kicked it away and he was already swinging his foot when it went. should have been booked first time he did it anyway so was just belated justice

Stupid thing to do having already been booked! Bet he was about as popular as a fart in a spacesuit on the coach ride back, having denied them the win they were quite clearly coasting to....

  12. Cheers for that, I thought it was All Saints for a while!

I might go and read their myspace site in the toilets...where...er...the light is so much better.

And talk about blind spot, I've always read your name as "Enjoy the silence" as in the Depeche Mode track although to be fair with that avatar I'm surprised I've even looked at the "....the silence" bit.

There's some good "material" on their myspace page all joking aside, and the music aint bad either. Likewise with You Tube.

I met them to talk to once after a gig at The Roadhouse in Piccadilly when they were flogging t shirts and mingling with the crowd. The avatar doesn't do them justice. The lead guitarist Cat (2nd left) who has unfortunately just abandoned ship due to "musical differences" is an absolute honey, curvy as hell in all the right places.....

  13. I'm anticipating a home game rather than staying in watching Jeff and the Boys. I'm going to watch the footie and see what happens, we could win, lose, draw or have the game abandoned. Whatever happens I'll be there to let off a bit of steam, have a few laughs and watch two third division teams playout a dour meaningless game in the grand scheme of things and I can not wait.

P.s. - who is it on your avatar, been bugging me for a bit.

McQueen....an all girl punk metal band hailing from Brighton, hence my username being Break The Silence which is the title of their debut album. Terrific band, first saw them in early '07 supporting WASP, and for a bunch of scrawny birds they don't half make a right racket!
